  1. God i would love to hear Reinsdorf’s complaints with the contract. He has to have thrown out some comment anonymously to a writer by now
  2. That “have it or you don’t” philosophy is why it’s time to move on from Fields. A second tier QB is sufficient for a team built to compete right now. We’re not there, though. And honestly I’m not content with that. If there’s a generational Mahomes QB in this class then it’s the responsibility of the Bears to identify and draft him. No more excuses. No, “well how could have anyone have expected Penix Jr. to adapt his style so quickly to the NFL.” It’s just always something. And it’s time we elevate our expectations. Yes, there is luck involved; but we cannot luck ourselves into anything unless we take the chance and select a QB with one of the first two picks. I honestly rather take the chance on greatness with the draft, then hoping Fields is “good enough.” Now if they f*** it up and choose poorly, then they can try it again in two years. We could keep doing it until someone gets it, right
  3. Exactly. Or what is the worst case scenario for me as finishing outside the top six, having a bad record next year, and then getting the number two overall pick and missing out on some generational talent
  4. Lol i I thought you were being serious. Well done
  5. Didn’t many have this exact same thought process at the trade deadline? “Just wait until the offseason when there’s more teams looking for pitching.” Lets not act like we’re going to enter the season with Cease. We cannot take the risk, and I’m sure every team knows it
  6. LittleHurt didn’t set the expectations of drafting a generational QB. He said the right pick for QB can lead us to the playoffs, which is actually not uncommon for first year QB’s. Although I personally believe having the potential #1 pick in two straight seasons, we should all be setting that standard as a minimum. Kevin Warren can’t possibly look Poles in the face after missing out on Stroud (and say Jayden Daniels) and not feel physically ill if the justification is - I wanted to see how Fields would fare with additional weapons/protection. Whatever route he chooses, it must be the right one. And given these last couple seasons, he should be feeling the pressure
  7. I’m just tired of the excuses. We know what we have with Fields and all of his limitations. He should be gone. This Carolina pick is likely going to be #1 or #2, so there’s no reason every first round QB regardless of pre-draft hype shouldn’t be looked at.
  8. It’s amazing to watch the improvement in Love through his first season. Many had written him off through the first five, six games. Yet here we are, in Fields third season, still trying to decide if he’s our QB. It’s a joke.
  9. Again Jordan Love looks great. Do we believe in him yet?
  10. I’ll throw myself in too as a believer in Daniels. I don’t know if he’ll make it out of the top 10 though.
  11. I’d be perfectly fine with that route if there weren’t several very good QBs available in the upcoming draft. I just don’t see how Poles’ survives if he passes up on another potentially great QB because he is content with Fields. Look at it this way, we have been trying to build a foundation then find a QB who sticks for our entire existence. It hasn’t worked. Let’s focus on the QB position first. And if we don’t get it right in three years, then try it again. Because once we do get it right, then we are good for the next decade
  12. Whatever route Poles chooses to follow, he better get it right. That’s the position he has put himself in. No more excuses. Two potential #1 picks in two years, there needs to be a franchise QB at the other end of this. If he decides to keep Fields, and go with another head coach and/or OC, then he better be outplaying whoever is drafted in 2024. No more Stroud excuses of, “no one could have predicted that,” and “we were evaluating Fields.” Too bad. Get it right, or you’re done.
  13. So…the Sox need to overcome the low odds (17% chance) of selecting outside the Top 6 for the 2024 Draft. Then next year, they’ll need everything to fall their way to be selected for the 1st overall pick in 2025. Yeah we’re not that lucky.
  14. Who were any of us to doubt GB and Jordan Love? Not setting up the HOF placard yet, but he has looked great the last two games.
  15. The 4-D chess move for Poles would be improving the team outside of QB (MHJ, Olu), sitting back and buying more time for himself, while still holding onto the “Fields isn’t my QB” card. This draft may very well have future HOF talent taken as the 3rd or 4th QB selected overall. If they don’t select the right one, and go through another Mahomes scenario, Poles is done. Especially with a likely Top 5 pick, and another inside the Top 10.
  16. Wasn’t that a fourth and one too?
  17. It would’ve been better for Detroit just to run into the end zone
  18. Absolutely. And it helps draw a lot of attention to the coaches and their terrible decisions.
  19. It’s the, playing not to lose mentality that these coaches have. And it was so obvious to everyone in that stadium, Detroit stacked the line.
  20. With 3 minutes left, Here is where we need the Bears to try putting together a good drive, not just trying to play the clock and eek out a win with all run plays. too many teams get burned doing this
  21. And I honestly have no idea who any of the players traded for Bummer, are. No clue. I’ve been checked out of the baseball scene for several years now. Although from a purely numbers standpoint, you’re better off taking a flyer on five names than one or two slightly higher ranked players. We’re searching for bodies outside of FA to fill a ML roster. It’s not going to move the needle on our upcoming 100 loss season
  22. Whatever the true motivations behind declining Anderson’s option were, I give Getz this much credit - I didn’t see it coming. Would Williams and Hahn have let him go? I really doubt it. It went against White Sox logic and past practices. I didn’t expect Bummer to be traded (and definitely this early), either. I can’t foolishly believe that changing around a couple guys is going to somehow change the deeply entrenched White Sox culture; but I like the start of it.
  23. Even if we’re envisioning a best case scenario where he returns from missing three games and improves on ALL his decencies, I wouldn’t trust Fields entering 2024. I don’t believe the coaching staff would, either. Hopefully another NFL team would be willing to buy into it. There are quite a few good quarterback, options coming out in the next draft. We could easily pick up a generational quarterback outside the top 10, for the reasons bmags mentioned. And if Carolina keeps on sucking they can help us land MHJ. Patriots and the Giants (two serious contenders for the top draft pick) would both need QBs.
