Nightengale: Gio won't be on 2024 White Sox
Flash Tizzle replied to Lip Man 1's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Ideally, Gio continues pitching well enough to unload him midseason to a contender. It’s better than playing the game of, will the White Sox offer him a qualifying offer or not after the season for the draft pick. -
Every day that passes with an embarrassing loss and another story of dysfunction within the team, I believe we are accelerating towards Hahn’s (at a minimum) resignation/termination. Before this week, I would have expected Hahn to survive the season. This is different, though. It’s definitely building; this anger among the Sox fans is unlike anything I've ever seen.
-
I definitely believe these last few weeks have accelerated Hahn’s fate. Mediocrity is job security with the White Sox; and he couldn’t even do that. You can definitely see the anger building amongst the fans. Even the national media is noticing this mess. If he fires Hahn midseason, there’s too little time to find the replacement and allow whomever time to rebuild. You don’t give that responsibility to an interim hire. They’ll have to devote several weeks to the sham search before hiring another lackey like Chris Getz. Which leads us to the realization that, regardless of the person in charge, a Reinsdorf hire will follow the bosses’ philosophies. Hahn will be fired upwards and the fans will pat themselves thinking they’ve made some change. Honestly, there are no paths forward that look good for this team. Whatever good comes of Hahns firing and a potential rebuild of a rebuild will be pure luck.

This team is going to lose 90 plus games...
Flash Tizzle replied to LittleHurtCG's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The season isn’t mathematically over, but it’s over. Same team, same issues; it’s not worth investing time and money into this season. I’m done hoping for things to work themselves out with these players. I don’t really believe rooting for them to lose helps either, unless that path is the one most likely to lead to Hahn’s firing. Which is, what maybe a 10% chance of happening? -
If the Bears believe Young at QB + whatever draft capital is gained from trading Fields, is greater than Fields at QB and #1 draft capital, they have to do it. They can’t be worried about perception. Especially if Young is believed to be a generational talent

I am very grateful for what I have, but I’m also capable of noticing a problem with our ownership. I also really don’t care about potential tax hits for Reinsdorf or any other investors if they sell. Too bad; he should network himself further with the local/national politician to change the tax laws. Or just hire the right accountants to exploit loop holes, like every other wealthy businessman. He can figure it out, every other owner/ownership group who sold their team in the history of sports did before him. It’s not an impossible task

Of course the billboard is not going to affect JR one way or another, but that shouldn’t be a reason not to support it. We throw away more money any given day on non essential nonsense. You know what else is a waste of time? Posting here. Whats the use on discussing anything anyway, what is it going to accomplish!?! And consider the time many have devoted here. Literally 20 years for myself lol. This billboard is our way of protest. It’ll probably get some social media exposure. Maybe an article or two is written about it, drawing more attention to the issue. We’ve already seen what the power of fan disapproval can do with the cancellation of Soxfest. And please don’t be naive enough to think it’s because of anything involving a venue or players schedules. That whole topic was memory holed fairly quickly without a decent explanation.

2023 MLB offseason signings and rumors thread
Flash Tizzle replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Let me throw out all the usual complaints right now before knowing any terms of the contract — the amount is absurd, these contracts are ruining baseball, and the last few years will provide no value for the Dodgers. -
Would you mind linking the old thread? I tried searching for it and can’t find it lol
-
Absolutely. We didn’t need hindsight to see it was a terrible decision, either.

I wouldn’t be so quick to dismiss Oakland’s return. I just can’t believe of all the possible trade partners and packages they settled on one that, at face value, doesn’t appear to been very appealing. If the White Sox had a similar return for Anderson, by all means I would have said it was robbery. Oakland atleast deserves more credit for identifying talent, even if the fans and media are suggesting otherwise
-
”He was signed for roster depth and an insurance policy” Yeah, ok. He’ll be misused and overused like every other player of his caliber who find themselves on the White Sox. Why are we concerning ourselves with these ass backwards moves when more important positions are left to be filled? And yeah yeah…i know the followup counterpoint….”it does not prevent us from still filling 2B/OF/additional rotation spot.” However, these bums will always be available up through the start of the season. Worry about the other positions now and then filling in with interchangeable AAAA players later.
-
Well Grifol has already proven himself loyal to JR by keeping his mouth shut. Was there any publication, tweet, blurb or even whisper that hinted he interviewed for the position? We knew everything about Guillen, which probably says more about him and his camp leaking information than anything else. Personally, I’m glad to have some open to analytics and outside the organization. Maybe it won’t work out, but of all the issues surrounding the Sox they’ve addressed one so far.
-
Reinsdorf strikes me as the type to purposely pass information (true or false) to a limited amount of people, just to see if makes it out to the public. Hahn and KW have been around for a long time, and knowing what we know about loyalty with the White Sox org, I really doubt Hahn (or KW) would leak information as some roundabout way of influencing a decision. Unless….the tweet was given the thumbs up by Reinsdorf and purposely leaked to push forward the decision. Which I’d be more willing to doubt, because it didnt achieve anything… My belief is, whenever an important personnel decision is made and leaked to a twitter account, it’s done by someone who knows enough people have the same information that the source cannot be identified. Hahn, KW and company understand losing JR’s trust is a quicker route to being fired than anything that happens on the diamond

I haven’t watched much of Davis Martin, but he looked great last night. He was seemingly able to throw the slider out of the zone and in the zone at will. Also, he had a good fastball and (when thrown) changeup. If nothing else, he has earned the right to battle for a rotation spot next year. Especially if Cueto leaves
-
It must be difficult to summarize the problems of the White Sox in only ten minutes. I was atleast expecting some reference to the two, 1-2 count IBB from TLR, but yeah, overall an accurate take on the White Sox
-
I like the idea of playing more teams outside the division. I honestly don’t have any sympathy for how often they'll be traveling. And for the few fans that follow the team to KC, Detroit, Minnesota or Cleveland, you’ll only have six less games per divisional opponent to watch them outside Chicago.
-
More deflection from Hahn. “We weren’t able to improve to club.” No buddy, YOU weren’t able to
-
Probably, It will just take 30 minutes to say it
-
I expect a “Tony expressed confidence in the current roster and didn’t feel a move was necessary” comment from Hahn
-
I agree with standing pat as well, but I’m sure it’s not by design. Hahn’s low bid offers weren’t accepted. However, let’s not act like the winter will be any different than past years.
