  1. Id love to hear Reinsdorf explain to Hahn the differences between two years on a contract, and how it’ll potentially cripple the team 8 years in the future when such an amount due to inflation wont even seem as high
  2. On ESPN or Twitter? Id love to hear the national perspective on our misery
  3. You’ll probably have to throw the opt-out in there, but everything else I’d be up for. Although I think it’ll take 350 to beat the Phillies at this point.
  4. What I almost fear now is a panic trade of prospects for veterans and using the payroll flexibility to scoop up the second tier FAs, acting like this has been the plan all along.
  5. I had faith in his word, but I dont blame Gomez for whatever angle he was running. That includes WSD. All the attention should be focused on the failures of the front office
  6. Don’t blame Machado. Blame your team. Why didn’t we offer the same as the Padres then and test that theory? Also he obviously didnt want to play for the Padres from day 1.....because they werent involved at day 1. Money won in the end as it usually does.
  7. Absolutely, a three month long tease. Didn’t management have any idea through Soxfest, online, or any other avenue how badly fans wanted Machado? We’ve spent MONTHS fantasizing about it. If the Padres lost it, would they even be upset? How long were they in the discussion, a few weeks? I’d like to think JR has learned a lesson, but I doubt it. This one move completely soured everyone to the team. Bring Machado on board, maybe make a few moves, theyre definitely winning more games. Fans would be excited for the future, revenue increases, everyones happy. Well except JR because he’s worried about years 7-10 for a 26 year old elite talent
  8. The master negotiator Hahn was probably overjoyed telling JR that we’re positioned to have Machado for far under the price everyone expected.
  9. I agree, I meant for the person saying “lets wait for all the details before making judgement”
  10. You are never going to know all the details of the White Sox offer to compare it to. However the most important point here is the White Sox lost the bidding for Machado and Kw/Hahn are both giving different excuses
  11. I don’t agree with the team first aporoach. You need to add talent where you can, when you can. We were going to sign Machado because we thought we were competing in 2019 or even 2020. It was going to be a move for the years after when this team would hopefully be competitive. Also, if we’re going to reference the Astros we need some production from the minors. Like right now. One of my biggest pet peeve’s about the White Sox fan base is everyone is just so complacent when it comes to the minor-league players. “Not everyone succeeds immediatey.” “He may need 3-4 years to contribute at the major league level.” No this is unacceptable. We can not wait 3-4 years for Moncada, Kopech, Cease, Eloy or else there’s no competitive window. Eventually it needs to come together at the SAME TIME. Someone like Eloy needs to contribute immediately. Many young players around the league do it every year, its nor unheard of. If we cannot do this, then we are fucked. How else will a championship team be assembled?
  12. But its not guaranteed money! Why not offer 300 and possibly make it 350 then?
  13. No way. Unless theyre really dumb enough to try the same failed proposal
  14. But these guys really want to win. Oh and apparently theres no set mark on how high theyre willing to go for a player. Unless it’s Machado or Harper
  15. Ok, but we’re not congratulating them on the competitiveness of the offer right? If you want to move on, fine. The hard lesson here is not to trust the White Sox until Reinsdorf dies, sells the team, or does something to prove he’s willing to pay a player more than he thinks is financially acceptable
  16. Who would want to make that bet? The goal is guaranteed money. Sox couldn’t provide it and theyre losers once again
  17. Cmon. You really believe he’d turn down more guaranteed money? It’s nonsense, our deal was not better than San Diego or else he would have taken it
  18. They’ve positioned themselves to where they HAVE to hit with this upcoming draft pick. Like, 6+ WAR type of talent. How else exactly are they going to assemble a championship team? They sure as hell wont spend money on it.
  19. Remember the old KW phrase: can’t spend a dollar when you only have 50 cents? How about, you cant spend a dollar..... when you only have 10 dollars. Thats what this whole mess is like now It was easier to expect this when we were crying poor because of a payroll almost completely taken up with salary obligations.
  20. They may be rebuilding, but it’s obvious they are still in the old mindset of 2005 roster construction. Except with a young roster of cheap talent they can save even more money trying to find their reclamation projects or bounce back players
  21. I agree with this. I won’t be attending any games in 2019, but they risk receiving an unfair brunt of fan unhappiness. It’s not fair to them because they’re forever associated with the failed Machado sweepstakes
  22. I do remember you saying that. There’s never a good time to lose out on a FA that the entire fanbase was following for months, but Jesus — right before Spring Training? Atleast he has basically eliminated us from Harper too. No use trying to hold onto that slim chance
  23. What winning product!? Lol. He just admitted it though, they’re never going to be in the market for a top tier FA. When will it ever be feasible to Uncle Jerrys liking?
  24. And Soxbadger is usually positive Next thing you know Ss2k5 will be joining us in bashing the Sox!
  25. They were probably so dead set on not negotiating against themselves and Probably thought the Padres were just in it to drive up the value. Well, this is one of the terrible White Sox moments no one can spin. A good friend of mine is cancelling his ticket plan and i dont blame him
