  1. Garland, I have to commend you for battling through this game. May have questioned your man-hood by calling you a walking tampon, but you rebounded well from the first. Now do it again. And then after that, again.
  2. Now it's man-up time for Garland. This is your batter, Jon.
  3. Yeah, odd how bloop hits always find Garland and Garcia. I don't care how soft their hit, their hits. Garland needs to put people down when ahead 0-2. Such as here with Nevin.
  4. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 30, 2006 -> 02:21 PM) Or, you could not swing at that curve Jon... Although, you seem to think every pitch near that corner is a good pitch. Garland knows himself how difficult it will be to hold this two run lead. Can you blame him for swinging out of his shoe?
  5. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 30, 2006 -> 02:17 PM) He still is. Garlands meltdown in the first got him back into his rhythm. Going into the 2nd down 3-0 is different than 3-2. And we will rock him. My faith in the baseball gods have been reaffirmed. Our last several AB's leading up to Crede's hit gave me concern we were in the midst of our pattern which involves scoring early, and having the pitcher "hit a groove."
  6. There better be atleast six runs on this board when Marshall leaves. No way Garland holds this lead.
  7. EMBARRASSING at bat from Podsednik. Continue watching pitches down the middle.
  8. You know, I thought our days with website f***ups were done? "Too many connections." What the hell? I need to vent my frustration towards that 6'5 walking tampon, Jon Garland.
  9. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 30, 2006 -> 01:50 PM) I absolutely f***ing hate Jon Garland. Go back to California, you f***ing burn out pot head. Don't worry. Garland apologists have made careers out of dissecting a boxscore and pointing out whether hits were "bloops" or the defense didn't help him out. Rarely does Jon pitch poorly -- it's always intangibles that go against him! Alright, not I'm becoming aggrivated with Garland. I can't stand the thought of several more years watching this bastard.
  10. I'm not sure what caused the previous deaths -- whether they were heart related or due to a physical injury -- but young children shouldn't be riding roller coasters. With Disney being a family orientated theme park, I can imagine there aren't many rides which restrict access because of height.
  11. QUOTE(bmags @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 08:43 PM) saw elephant last week and forgot to share how terrible that movie is and how terrible gus van sant is. Yeah, well, you just can't appreciate the beauty of holding one shot for an extended period of time! He's the modern day Stanley Kubrick! QUOTE(Brian @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 10:33 PM) I just watched the featurette on the Karate Kid SE DVD. It is wierd seeing Johnny all grown up and acting nice, even though he turned into a good guy at the end. He looks exactly the same minus the wierd hair. I recall hearing reading information on IMDB he was actually 23 years old when filming began for Karate Kid. Tell me there isn't something biologically wrong with him to convincingly play the role of a 14 year old.
  12. QUOTE(MHizzle85 @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 10:09 PM) ill do it, after im done voting So........................... how about that insider article?
  13. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 07:11 PM) Haigwood, Castro, and Rupe all mentioned in that article. [Flash Tizzle]How come we can't develop minor league pitchers? Where's our Liriano? [/Flash Tizzle] Mentioned, yes. Doesn't mean they're worth a damn. Haigwood's a typical White Sox pitching prospect with a ceiling of 4th, 5th starter. There are plenty of replacements for him. Rupe? Texas can keep him. Knowing our troubles, Castro probably will emerge into an elite starter for Philadelphia. Or wherever else he bounces too. Too bad we couldn't retain him.....
  14. Is anyone with an Insider account willing to copy/paste the content of Keith Law's piece? PM me if you have it. Thanks.
  15. "Can't Fight This Feeling," REO Speedwagon. Can't say I enjoy this song.
  16. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 05:14 PM) There are too many teams in this league. Having two young HOF caliber pitchers in the same rotation is pretty much a freak occurence, especially in the expansion era. Hell, you'd have to go back to the late 60s Mets (Seaver/Ryan). There should be more urgency then to do something about it. I hope people realize that if Minnesota develops or trade for several offensive pieces they're set. Mauer obviously won't be hitting at his What happens when Matt Garza, their stud AA pitcher, develops and one day enters Minnesota's rotation? We may encountering the starting rotation from hell. Detroit isn't exactly taking a step back. I just wish I had some inclination that something is being done to develop legitimate talent. Ideally in Latin America, where everything is fair game for those willing to search. I realize we've developed a baseball academy in Venezuela. That may one day reap benefits. It's just remarkable to me how little our scouts from Latin America has done. Not even our Futuresox crew could deny that.
  17. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 05:00 PM) I almost always agree with your posts, but Contreras is birds*** in comparison to Liriano and Santana? Come on, man. Maintaining the AL triple crown (ERA/WHIP/BAA) over the first two months of this season = birds*** Contreras may have it for two months, but Liriano and Santana will battle each other for the AL triple crown pitching stats for the remaining four months. But don't think I've soured on Contreras or Buehrle entirely. Santana and Liriano are simply that much better. Birds*** may have been unneeded, but I'm just passionate -- like all us Eastern Europeans.
  18. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 04:44 PM) How many teams have a Liriano type in their system? 3? You make it sound as if the Sox are the only team in baseball without such a player. I'll keep it short for SoxAce. What you're doing is exactly what everyone else does. Shrugs their shoulders and go, "oh well -- every team would want a Liriano." I imagine there's a large group of people who think similarily working in our minor league system. They feel the odds are we're not going to find one, so why do anything? It's of their own makings they're consistently in the position to not only have a player on the level of Liriano, but one even capable of average production. One, granted, is due to our consistently average record which has limited high draft picks. Nothing you can do there. Another, which is entirely our fault, is our inability to develop talent from Latin American countries. Since Lee and Ordonez' promotion in the late 90's, we haven't even had a player on par with Neifi Perez arise from our Latin scouts. It's pitiful to ignore such a large baseball rich area of the world. If we're EVER going to find a Liriano, it's going to have to either be from scouting or a trade. Even if such odds increases from 1/10,000 to 1/5,000, atleast make some effort. Watching Minnesota locate both Santana and Liriano (and I realize neither are products of Minnesota's system) just aggrivated me beyond belief. There's a reason both stud lefthanders just happened to be on Minnesota. Their scouting directions obviously values pitching prospects with velocity. You can't teach velocity. When I observe our club drafting Broadway and McCulloh it's evident we're more concerned with "safe" pics with low potential than high pics which may be risky, but have a high ceiling. Go ahead and tell me about Nick Lemon or another bust, but I'd rather have 15 straight busts if it even gives us one Liriano. We have to counter those two. I don't care how ridiculous that sounds, we need results from a group of scouts who haven't done s*** in nearly a decade. I'm not going to sit by and watch Liriano/Santana mow through us while Lance Broadway is considered one of our top pitching prospects. That just won't work for me. Now, either you can again shrug your shoulder and just accept every 10K shutout from either for the next 7 years, or realize there's a group of people working for the White Sox who aren't doing their jobs. Join with me people -- Where's our Liriano?
  19. QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 03:24 PM) I'd take Liriano and Santana over any of our SP right now, and it's not close I'm several pages back in this thread, but feel this post needs to be quoted. We can label Contreras or Buehrle our "aces," but let's be honest -- compared to those two they're birdshirt. Don't worry. That will all change when our Liriano is either traded for or developed. Right?
  20. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 03:20 PM) Middle Relief is a crap-shoot from year to year. These guys are usually the most unconsistent players from year to year. He'll be great again in '08. Hopefully for another team. You're right about the inconsitency of middle relief for everyteam not named Minnesota. I've adopted a new philosophy from watching Politte -- if you're a veteran with 5+ years experience, and have a career year, you should be traded immediately.
  21. QUOTE(zygoat @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 02:58 PM) I saw the boxscore today adn who got the loss and my heart almost stopped. Cliff Politte gave up a walk off HR to somebody (not good) on the pirates. I worry for him and i thought he would be better after coming off the DL (Granted i have to give him some time to get back into swing). I also remember Montero pitching extremely tough against the pirates last night and that got me wondering if politte should build up his confidence in AAA while Montero stays with us. Just my thoughts, what about you guys I don't believe for one minute Politte's DL stinct was due to "shoulder inflammation." I expect immediate contributions from him. Sanchez may have herpes, and may have a magic wand, but I know from this series no other pitcher gave up a HR to him. Only five on the season to date. Not a homerun hitter. Perhpas with another pitcher I"d be willing to accept the pitch as poorly placed. Or credit Sanchez all together. But this is what Politte has done all year. Personally, the entire issue of building up confidence is really a joke. When people were worried about how Tracey would respond following Guillen's tirade I said if he doesn't rebound, he doesn't deserve to pitch. I wasn't going to feel any sympathy towards his situation. And what did he do shortly following the demotion? Threw one of the best games of his career. He's tough. What could a trip to AAA possibly accomplish for Cliff? Does he need 'confidence' by throwing inside pitches to AAA players? f*** that. He's not a prospect anymore. If he can't pitch well, he can leave this team.
  22. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 03:06 PM) The problem, is our $40 billion rotation. They have sucked some serious dick on the year, and even Contreras is having bad games now. Between Garland, Garcia, and Vazquez (I'm souring on him every passing start), whomever receives the best package should be delt next offseason. Just bring us our Liriano in a trade and I'll be happy.
  23. Looks like I'll have to ressurect my signature. Poor Cliff, he was hard on himself last year even with career numbers. I really wish an injury could explain his ineffectiveness. We would then have an excuse to explain the magnetic charge baseballs seem to have towards bats when Politte pitches.
  24. Yeah, and people are looking for Hernandez to be added as bullpen depth? LOL. Don't give up anything for him. This is what you can expect the remainder of the season from American League opponents. Can anyone imagine Mauer or Morneau hitting off of him?
