White Sox win draft lottery, will pick #1 in 2026
That's what I thought. That's why I didn't understand this talk of "what if the Rays have a deal with him for more money."

White Sox win draft lottery, will pick #1 in 2026
But they can't do anything if the Sox pick him. What, he chooses to go back to college over a $1mil difference?

White Sox win draft lottery, will pick #1 in 2026
Even if he has "demands", he has no leverage if they pick him 1st. If he wants 11m but they offer 10m, all he can do is go back to college which is a HUGE gamble.

How can they even do that? If the Sox draft him, he either takes the deal or takes a massive gamble on going back to college to make $1-2 mil more on his contract next year? While delaying his free agency timeline by an entire year.

I know that, I'm just wondering if it can be expected that he will sign for under slot.

Move Hagen Smith to the bullpen to help the White Sox compete in 2026?
Would be interesting if they did this route with both Schultz and Hagen. That would be a solid bullpen.

Appreciate your analysis and enjoyed listening to your draft podcast. I forget if I asked this to you already, but how much do you think a guy like Roch would sign for? Is it likely to be the allotted slot value? Or can they snag him for less because he has no leverage? The last 2 picks were a bit lower than slot. Even Paul Skenes signed for $500k below slot. Edit: Just saw your tweet about how a possible scenario would be them signing him for $10m and having $1.3m extra from the $11.3m slot value. Man that would be awesome.

Move Hagen Smith to the bullpen to help the White Sox compete in 2026?
The White Sox have been known for moving guys to the bullpen while developing. It worked out spectacularly with Sale and Crochet. The Sox showed they are serious about competing this year by signing Murakami. The AL Central is typically a joke, and since this is baseball after all, anything can happen. The team has a plethora of young talent and it wouldn't be surprising if they competed for the division. Should we give Hagen the Sale/Crochet treatment and let him develop while he dominates in the bullpen? That would surely bolster our bullpen. I'm not sure if the new front office is gutsy enough to do it. Maybe with a little pressure from Jerry to try and compete they would do it.

Passan: Astros sign Imai
Jerry would never sign a deal like that, especially for a pitcher.

Passan: Astros sign Imai
It's going to happen. All signs are pointing towards it. Unfortunately this board has decided to go full-on Parkman and be overly pessimistic about it.

White Sox sign Jarred Kelenic, non-roster invite
Something that always came to my mind regarding Garrett Guest - is his position as Assistant Director of Amateur Scouting a part time gig or something? How does he have time to run a dealership AND have a big position on a major league team?

I expect some absolute PISS MISSILES from Kelenic.

He was a character alright. The fact that he's still doing the "fake insider" thing after a half decade is hilarious.

Great point. Meidroth is a good defender at 2B and can also play SS. Pretty darn important as a super sub. The Chairman of the Board isn't as good defensively to my knowledge. He doesn't get too much burn at SS, probably for a reason.

Seems like a fair comparison. Being lefty with a tad more power potential is a pretty good advantage over Meidroth, if he develops.

Can I get you thoughts on Antonacci? He had an impressive AFL obviously. Showed his great OBP skills. Will his lack of power really limit his potential offensively? I'm wondering how his great plate discipline will translate given his lack of XBHs and power.
