  1. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 17, 2014 -> 09:14 AM) my Batavia Bulldogs have a huge game vs Geneva tonite for the conference title I went to Lake Park. We would be in the same conference, but we switched to the DVC last year.
  2. QUOTE (LDF @ Oct 17, 2014 -> 12:01 PM) 90 % you are very optimistic aren't you. i wish people will remember who is agent is Scott Boras is Kris Bryant's agent. Why didn't Bryant get called up in September? Because it doesn't make sense at that time.
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 17, 2014 -> 08:04 AM) Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday. So Bumgarner in game 1 on normal rest? Yeah I'm pretty sure they have said that already. It's hard to believe, but the Giants have done all this without Cain and Lincecum pitching. I know their not what they used to be but still pretty remarkable. I've got the Giants in 7.
  4. Whoever wants Russell Martin, he will now cost a draft pick. MLB Daily Dish @mlbdailydish · 13h 13 hours ago #Pirates to extend qualifying offer to Russell Martin http://sbnation.com/e/6755584
  5. QUOTE (LDF @ Oct 17, 2014 -> 07:37 AM) man, I am really enjoying reading all these post. a lot of great ideas and many different situations. and now to WS with the favorites being elimeated, the QO deadline just around the corner, and creative posters. a great beginning to the offseason. Exactly why I wanted to make this thread. To generate ideas and views everybody had.
  6. QUOTE (flavum @ Oct 16, 2014 -> 10:45 PM) Haven't watched for a while, but Olacio is pitching and just struck out Buxton. That's nice. Supposedly he's got good stuff, just needs to find the command and control.
  7. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Oct 16, 2014 -> 10:12 PM) At least 2, lets get it right bro. Like who? What would the rotation look like then?
  8. Is there any stats on these guys out there? Have they played yet?
  9. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Oct 16, 2014 -> 08:12 PM) Make Smart Decisions... Meaning dont trade away prospects, especially for horrible contracts. Acquire more ML ready prospects. Sign pitching depth in both the bullpen and the rotation. (Especially guys that I can flip at the deadline for prospects a la the Cubs.) Put everyone of value on the block to see what offers are out there. Just make smart baseball and fiancial decisions. And who replied with a +1, this isn't Reddit. Give some ideas of players/trades that would fit your criteria.
  10. Well the purpose of this thread was to generate ideas for this off season, and I think it has worked so far. Having good, quality discussions on potential players. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 16, 2014 -> 05:23 PM) You know, if you are going to insult SoxPride and his ideas, the least thing you could do is come up with something better than this when asked to show off your own foolproof plan. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Oct 16, 2014 -> 05:33 PM) +1 Thank you. My idea behind CarGo is that he's still young at 28. There's 3 years left on that deal with a good amount of money on it. I look back on it, and maybe it is an overpayment, but if the Rockies chipped in some money, you still know they are going to ask for those types of players, hell probably even Anderson. He had one bad year last year, he hasn't had a year with an OPS under 850 before last year and his rookie year. Yes, he is injury prone, but that is the risk you take to get a quality left handed bat still in his prime. Sorry Joshua that we don't agree, but CarGo is a fit for the White Sox. Especially if the Rockies chipped in money.
  11. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Oct 16, 2014 -> 04:03 PM) Jay Bruce would be a nice piece to buy low on. He's a 30 HR left-handed bat that owns a 9.4 BB%. His defense is all over the place, sometimes good, sometimes bad. He strikes out more than you'd like, but he also won't clog the bases. He is owed $12M, $12.5, and then has an option for $13M in 2017. He was worth -1.1 WAR last year, 4.0 WAR the year before, had a career high of 4.9 WAR at age 23, and will turn 28 right after the season starts next year. Like I said, the Reds MAY be willing to sell low on him and want to move that money. The only problem is that their OF is already pretty weak with Billy Hamilton being the only longterm piece there. Their other OFers include Ryan Ludwick and Skip Schumaker. However, 2 of the Reds 3 top prospects are OFers, so they may be willing to let one of those guys replace Bruce next season. Agreed. Bruce is definitely my #2 behind CarGo. Unless you can package Viciedo in a deal with him too.
  12. QUOTE (Dunt @ Oct 16, 2014 -> 03:35 PM) Im saying no to giving up that type of package and taking all that money on top of it. As others have pointed out, CarGo is injury plagued and that is a lot for a guy that cant play 150-162 games. You may not agree with it, but everyone here knows that Colorado would probably ask for more than that, so I think that could be a happy medium. If the Sox want to compete next year, you have to jump on opportunities for left handed bats, that are still young and in their prime.
  13. QUOTE (flavum @ Oct 16, 2014 -> 03:16 PM) Not familiar with that Brian Anderson, but if he just got drafted in June, he isn't eligible to be traded this winter. I also think Peavy probably had enough here. He loves the NL too. Edited the Danks trade.
  14. QUOTE (Dunt @ Oct 16, 2014 -> 03:30 PM) Dear god no. In order to get, you have to give. Adding CarGo and LaRoche is adding TWO quality left handed bats to a line up.
  15. QUOTE (flavum @ Oct 16, 2014 -> 03:21 PM) What did you do with Zach Putnam? Great call. I honestly forgot about him. I edit my post and add him, Hochever would become a backup/reclamation project.

  17. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Oct 16, 2014 -> 11:23 AM) I think a Viciedo for Brown swap makes sense. Both are arb eligible and candidates to be non-tendered, each roster could use an opposite handed hitter, Viciedo could platoon with Howard some at 1B and provide as much defense as Brown in the OF. Trade for Brown, sign Jose Fernandez and Parra as a reclamation project and the lineup will be pretty set. I think that RH has Pedro Alvarez pegged for the DH role next year though. Why sign a 26 year old second baseman when Sox have 3 that could fill that void right now?
  18. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Oct 16, 2014 -> 11:15 AM) Gilder to TAMU, I think that sets us up better for Elijah. That's huge. A&M already has 2 front court players for that class too. And Elijah's mom tweeted Nooooo 5 minutes before the announcement too.....
  19. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 15, 2014 -> 09:23 PM) Why is Basto there again? Replaced Ravelo. Basto did play well this last season. Just needs to find a position on the field, and play at least average there.
  20. I definitely agree. If he can regain form, Sox would have some rotation issues (but could never have too many), yet use some as trade bait. It'll be interesting how he does next year. Hope for us and the Sox, he's back to his two years ago self.
  21. I'd love to add Nick Markakis. I think he would be a great 2 hitter. Gets on base, doesn't strike out much, durable, great defensively and a left handed bat. Add on that he will not cost a draft pick.
  22. I have been a huge fan of Fulmer since last year. He's number one on my big board right now.
