QUOTE (SCCWS @ Oct 9, 2014 -> 07:38 AM) Maybe quality starters, especially 3-5 are not as valuable as we think. The attached article says that Boston last year and Baltimore this year had outstanding seasons without having an ace. The 4 teams still standing are not teams with outstanding team ERA for example. http://www.providencejournal.com/sports/re...e-from-that.ece If Sox want to be a playoff team in 15 then you keep Quintana to have a proven #2 to go along with Rodon. All you need in the middle of that is an above average right handed starter, or JUST SIGN ALL THE LEFTIES! lol. But in reality, I would love to add Shields to this rotation. Sale, Shields, Quintana, Noesi, Rodon (hopefully trade Danks). That is a solid 5. I think I would sacrifice a 2nd round pick to get Shields and try to trade for CarGo and add complimentary pieces around that, through minor trades and lesser free agents.

I wonder if the new Rockies GM will trade CarGo. -
No.

Angels and Tigers eliminated. Nationals on the brink, and the Dodgers are tied up. Goes to show you a large payroll doesn't always guarantee you championships. Love that about baseball, that's why its the greatest game in the world.

QUOTE (LDF @ Oct 5, 2014 -> 08:43 AM) Pokka first needs to come to the usa, he will not unless he is given promises of starting in the nhl, not minor league. I just wish it was draft picks the hawks got. Pokka may not make the team, the hawks have some very solid d-men knocking, yearning for playing time. is he better than Clendening, Johns, Dahlbeck let alone some of the promising college d-man who are making a name for themselves? here is another thought, if Pokka could not crack the Ilse starting lineup of d-man and he wants promises of no minor league time, how does he or for that fact any think he can crack the hawks lineup. I just don't know about him. again, I just wish it was for draft picks. Pokka instantly becomes the Hawks #2 prospect behind Teuvo. Hockey has a top 100 prospects and Pokka came in at #41, Hawks have 3 guys in the top 100 (Teuvo, Pokka and Clendening). Pokka is playing in Rockford this year, and remember he's only 20. -

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 4, 2014 -> 01:43 PM) Arthur Staple @StapeNewsday · 12m 12 minutes ago Official: #Isles acquire D Nick Leddy from CHI for D Ville Pokka, D T.J. Brennan and G Anders Nilsson. Pokka is a very good two way defenseman. He's only 20 years old and will be in Rockford this year. Brennan is a good 6-7 D guy, put up real good numbers in the AHL, he's 24 years old. Nilsson sucks lol. Hawks also traded G Kent Simpson. -

Word on the street is Leddy and another player might head east, and it might be Morin. This is all on Q, because he doesn't like either player. f***ing pisses me off. Morin is a great scorer and he'll replace Sharp next year, but if they trade him, I'm calling for Q's head because f***ing Carcillo is going to take his spot. -
Jose Tabata just got DFA'd, worth a look?

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 3, 2014 -> 02:51 PM) Nothing like a $160 million team trailing by one in the 9th inning of a playoff game and having Herman Perez, Austin Romine, and Eugenio Suarez come to bat. And its only going to increase with Miggy, Verlander, and possibly Scherzer or Price extensions.
-
Cruz just bailed out Jones with a 2 run HR off Scherzer.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Oct 1, 2014 -> 04:56 PM) Frank De Los Santos outrighted to AAA, 40-man to 39 And it begins. It's really at 38 with Konerko retiring.

QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Oct 1, 2014 -> 04:43 PM) You have to take the survey. Thank you. Regarding the bullpen, I'd really want Houston Street, but I don't see that happening. I'd be interested in Robertson if he doesn't get a QO. I think Wade Davis should get a look. Right handed starter, I'd love to get Shields, but Edison Volquez has my eye. I've always liked him and his stuff is nasty. DH/LF, I think this comes through trade. I do not want V-Mart. My guys to look at are Dickerson, Bruce and Alvarez. Catcher, Tyler Flowers. I think he earned it this year. 3B, I love Conor, give him another season and I still have hope for Matt Davidson. If they were to sign someone, maybe Headley? -

Cruz, Crawford/Ethier, Bruce, C. Dickerson SP- Samardzija, Gallardo, Latos, Leake RP- Robertson, Soria, Maurer, A. Miller, Justin Wilson, Rex Brothers This is exactly my list minus Crawford/Ethier. I actually know Samardzija and I want to try and convince him to come back to Chicago and play for the Sox.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Sep 29, 2014 -> 11:00 AM) No idea 3 of those players (sub Ball for McCoy) were available in rounds 3-5. I had the 5th pick and traded it for 10 & 11 while still having my 2nd round pick. We did a live draft at my house. So I took Rodgers and Bryant at 10 & 11. Lacy round 2 and traded Andre Johnson and Ryan Matthews (before injury) for Julio Jones. I made out pretty good lol -

To the poster that said something about Bostic, he has actually been playing some damn good football this season. He has been very effective in the run game, filling his gaps and filling them with authority and driving his offenders back so other players can fill make the play. Pass defense, every young player can improve in, but overall, Bostic has done a good job this season. -

So I won again this week. I am currently 4-0 in my 10 team ppr league. I also just made a trade this morning, now this is what I was offered, I get McCoy and Mike Wallace for Montee Ball and Steve Smith. Hopefully McCoy picks it up. Made some other roster moves as I dropped Romo, which could cost me later but whatever. My team is currently: QB Rodgers RB Lacy RB McCoy WR Julio Jones WR Bryant WR Sanders TE Vernon Davis FLEX Mike Wallace DEF Bengals K Bailey Bench RBs West, Bradshaw, Chris Johnson WRs Gordon, Stevie Johnson TE Witten DEF Lions. Thoughts? -

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Sep 29, 2014 -> 10:05 AM) Just statistically it's not good for us as most top 100 prospects commit to the last school they visited. It's not 100%, but it's definitely heavily correlated. A person on Illinois Loyalty actually did a search on that and based it off the the top 100 kids from the 2014 class. Only 58% committed to the last school they visited. Obviously more than half, but not overwhelming at all. And like the poster a couple above me said, Evans said that he would be announcing this week before his OSU visit.
