  1. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 11, 2016 -> 06:54 PM) RP David Robertson to the Nationals for C Pedro Severino and OF Juan Soto 3B Todd Frazier to the Cardinals (miss out on Justin Turner) for 3B Jhonny Peralta (potential flip at the deadline, 1 year remaining), C Carson Kelly, and SP Dakota Hudson Like I said, I think this could be done now that Turner and Jansen have both resigned with LAD
  2. Do you guys think Bears sign Barkley and he starts next year when the Bears draft the QB of the future?
  3. QUOTE (Black_Jack29 @ Dec 11, 2016 -> 06:57 PM) Rick Hahn was GM when the Sox traded for James Shields. You know that screams Kenny.
  4. I couldn't find the old thread where we made the predictions for the off season. Now that things have died down a bit, and Sale and Eaton being traded. Who else do you think will be traded? Where are those players going? What free agent signings do the Sox make to fill the MLB holes? SP Jose Quintana and RP Dan Jennings to the Rockies for SS Brendan Rodgers, SP Riley Pint, OF Raimel Tapia, and 3B Tyler Nelvin RP David Robertson to the Nationals for C Pedro Severino and OF Juan Soto 3B Todd Frazier to the Cardinals (miss out on Justin Turner) for 3B Jhonny Peralta (potential flip at the deadline, 1 year remaining), C Carson Kelly, and SP Dakota Hudson OF Melky Cabrera and 2B/3B Brett Lawrie go at the deadline FA Signings: SP Derek Holland 1 year/3 million SP Jhoulys Chacin 1 year/6 million SP Tom Milone Minor League contract RP Drew Storen 1 year/5 million RP Brian Matusz 1 year/2 million OF Colby Rasmus 1 year/8 million Thoughts? And your ideas?
  5. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 11, 2016 -> 06:28 PM) Is that updated or an old list? I saw him listed as 30 on mlb.com. Most likely updated. Baseball America have been updating their lists for the last month I believe.
  6. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 11, 2016 -> 03:58 PM) I, for one, don't particularly love Tapia. I would much prefer McMahon or even Wall over Tapia. The package I really want from the Rockies is probably Rodgers/McMahon/Wall/intriguing arm. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 11, 2016 -> 04:02 PM) If that arm is Almonte, sign me up! #BringAlmonteHome Rodgers, Tapia, Freeland, and Almonte for Q?
  7. QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Dec 11, 2016 -> 12:34 PM) Some chatter on the Rockies boards about it being a good fit, but nothing concrete from any official capacity (and sports radio out here isn't interested in anything that isn't the Broncos at the moment). The majority of the Rockies chatter has them trying to move Blackmon for starter and chasing Trumbo. If that's the case, 3 team deal sounds good for this type of deal. Q goes to Rockies Blackmon to team that needs CF Sox get prospects from Rockies and other team.
  8. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Dec 10, 2016 -> 02:52 PM) Tough to call, but the usual suspects: likely Robertson, Frazier and Q. Sorry, now more than ever I can't be a resource for return names like I used to but there are some highly accurate package names in this thread. I will say that the national and local media info has been surprisingly in the know lately...credit to them. Awesome. Thank you very much Bucket. So to breakdown for everyone: Astros we have discussed Martes, Musgrove, Tucker, Stubbs, Reed Nationals: Severino LAD: Calhoun, Lux, Verdugo, Barnes
  9. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Dec 10, 2016 -> 02:33 PM) That's almost totally in the hands of Luhnow, Coppolela, Mozeliak and Rizzo. There is still momentum from last week's discussions. The scouting and talks have been very thorough for many months and further deals are on the board to be had. Make no mistake, teams very clearly know Rick's asks, which contributed to last week's action and thus the recent windfall of elite prospects. Who do you think goes next and what could we expect back in return? Thanks for the info Bucket!
  10. Saw someone on Twitter saying that Buster Olney said that he could see the Rockies offer Rodgers/Tapia/Pint for Q and the Pirates offer Glasnow/Meadows/Bell or Newman. I'd take either....
  11. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 9, 2016 -> 02:48 PM) Soxtalk, because I care about you, I'm taking a hit for the team and am going to listen to the buster olney podcast for the Nightengale bits on Quintana. I will report back. What came out of it?
  12. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Dec 9, 2016 -> 01:39 PM) The White Sox are loaded with pitching prospects and they will most likely be adding more. As it looks now possibly: Charlotte- Giolito, Lopez, Fulmer, Holmberg, Birmingham-Adams, Stephens, Guerrero, HIGH A- Kopech, Hansen, Dunning, Diaz, Solorzano, Low A- Fry, Comito, Flores. Figure they'll still make Danish a starter in AAA until otherwise as well.
  13. From Keith Law Chat Mike: Astros have to make a deal for Quintana at this point no? Assuming the rays aren't trading archer there isn't another option that keeps them on their current plan. Seems like the perfect scenario for Hahn to strike gold again. Law: It's the ideal fit if they can agree on a price. If I'm Hahn, I'm focused on the bigger prospects, but definitely hoping to snag AJ Reed in the deal too.

  15. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Dec 9, 2016 -> 01:55 PM) so what have we got in center, May? Engel? Engel and Tilson probably lead the way so far.
  16. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 9, 2016 -> 01:20 PM) Fulmer should also start the season in the minors. Rotation will look something like (without Q trade): Q, Rodon, Gonzalez, Shields, filler starter. But they could also likely deal one of Gonzalez or Q. Agreed. If we do trade Q, I could see signing guys like Derek Holland, Trevor Cahill, and letting Dylan Covey start.
  17. QUOTE (FT35 @ Dec 9, 2016 -> 01:40 PM) Quintana Giolito Rodon Lopez Kopech (Fulmer? Dunning? Burdi? Hensen? They seem to be relievers now, but sometimes that can change). Plus we can add a couple more TOP draft picks in there from what we're likely to have over the next couple of years). How can you already designate Hansen, Dunning, and Fulmer as relievers? They have done nothing but start in the minors. Fulmer was great towards the end of the season in AAA too.
  18. Melky stays with the Sox until the deadline I think. Depending on what happens with Turner, I think Frazier could be traded this off season or at the deadline. Robertson for sure should be traded before the season.
  19. Looking at Houston, they had a damn good lineup last year and didn't make the playoffs. Yes, they improved their lineup by acquiring Beltran and Reddick, but they aren't stars, just solid role players. Kuechel and McHugh regressed and McCullers can't stay healthy. If they really want to go into the season with that rotation, by all means, but if you need pitching help , 5 games back of the division at the deadline, the price doubled for not adding Francis fricken Martes and Kyle Tucker.
  20. J.J Schwarz and JB Bukauskas would look really good in Sox uniforms. Those are my early favorites for next year.
  21. http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/CH...-salaries.shtml The payroll for the next few years. If we trade Robertson and Frazier, we will have a payroll of around 65 million. In 2018 probably around 40 million once Melky, Lawrie and Avi gone. This is without even trading Quintana. We will have plenty of money to spend for the future in that massive FA class.
  22. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 05:30 PM) I think Jones is a very good set-up man. But for his career he has 3 saves and 18 blown saves. Now as some have noted, saves can be a misleading statistic. But saves versus blown saves may be telling. There are certain relief pictures who can be great set-up men but wilt when they come in w the game on the line. Jones may be in that category. Jones gets a blown save if he allows the tying run in the 8th or inning before the last.
  23. I think best case scenario is Jansen picks the Dodgers or the Marlins leaving the Nats to scramble. If he picks the Marlins, Robertson can block a trade to LAD which is always risky, but drive the price up on the desperate Nats. Hell, I would not be surprised if the Marlins lose out on Jansen if they go all out on Robertson either and offer Braxton Garrett being how stupid they are. IMO, I think Robertson goes to one of these 3 teams and we get a pretty decent return.
  24. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 09:51 PM) Dodgers MO isn't to do some massive deal. I could see them parting with a lot of good to very good prospects though. Agreed. I don't think they do Quintana, but if Turner does sign with another team, I fully expect Frazier and Robertson to LA
  25. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 09:45 PM) Q is the type of deal that could take time. Sox have a ton of leverage (even after selling Eaton / Sale). In fact, they might have more since they set such a high market for the other players (one of which might have had slightly more value, the other slightly less). At the same time, you really don't have a lot of other options out there (and none on the FA market), so you figure something will happen...but Hahn has to wait to get the right price. I'm hoping he can get Bregman and another top position prospect. IF Not Bregman, we need a bigger package, including at least two of their top position prospects plus two more good prospects. I don't think it has to take time because Astros already know who the Sox are interested prospect wise. So, it could be a Nationals situation.
