  1. People regularly say "the MLB" or "the NFL" or "the NBA" Why would you care about something like this?
  2. Poor choice of language? When you were wrong the first time you said typo when my post didn't have one. Maybe you should check if what you say is true before stating it like it is the truth. Let us know if that fits your argument.
  3. Wrong again. Expos signed Everett to a two year deal so he was not signed because Frank had a bad injury.
  4. Sox lead the MLB in pitching WAR and K/9 and they face a DH over a pitcher.
  5. "of the best pitching in baseball" does not equal the best pitching.
  6. The White Sox didn't sign Everett. They traded for him in 2004.
  7. Jack is putting in all his marbles in the "Sox aren't a title contender" basket because unless they become the 1 team of the 30 to win it all he can say I told you so. The Sox will win the Central. They've had of the best pitching in all of baseball. If they have Robert, Eloy and Grandal healthy and in the lineup in September you're just wrong. Whether they win it all or not. This is baseball. You do whatever to get to October and hope the luck goes your way once you're there. Speaking in absolutes about winning a World Series in baseball just shows a lack of understanding or bias.
  8. This is a huge black eye for Bauer. Nobody else committed the disgusting acts he's accused of. To be clear, I say these things as if Bauer is guilty because he has not denied the things he is accused of (which makes me sick) but of course in our society he will get his day in court. This happened outside of the game and is something of Bauer's perverse personal life. People are freaking out at the MLB and the Dodgers because the commissioners office (that I detest) took a day or two to gather information on the matter. I am not sure people understand this but Bauer has not appeared in a game after the woman's report to the police became public. I know outrage is everybody's kneejerk reaction and this is one of the most heinous and disturbing public sexual assault cases I can remember but Bauer should stand alone in the shame. However, for perspective, after this one disturbing and credible allegation, the MLB took action against Bauer within days of this coming to light. On the other hand, DeShaun Watson has had over 20 allegations and there has been no action taken by the the NFL and there is little media coverage despite the months that have passed since these allegations came out. Of course part of that is because of one sport being out of season and the other being in the midst of the season, but the public responses to each situation don't make a whole lot of sense when put next to each other.
  9. If Grandal is out for the year, I am officially scared. If he's over 4-6 weeks or something, our weakass division should keep us afloat and we're just dependent on everyone coming back healthy without setbacks.
  10. Provide evidence of players being removed from starts for "non-suspendible" offenses. I don't even know what that means. When guys get in domestic violence issues, the MLB puts them on administrative leave. Just like Bauer's situation. Look at Chapman, Russell, Urias, German, etc.
  11. What difference does it make? He never made a start? They didn't need to wait for guidance from the MLB because the MLB gave them guidance the Dodgers acted on what the MLB told them to do. Why would the Dodgers put themselves in a position to be taken to arbitration or have a legal grievance when the formation of this policy is set up to prevent teams from having to go down those paths by putting the disciplinary powers in the hand of the commissioner and the commissioner only until he deems otherwise. The Dodgers will have their chance to discipline him when the process plays out (assuming legal process convicts Bauer). They don't need to go against what the the MLB told them to do to put themselves in position to be liable to a grievance or an arbitration hearing. Do you think the Dodgers braintrust is going to go against their lawyers and the MLB's advice and put themselves in a position to accrue significant legal expense to appease the outrage mob on the internet? No. " Instead Roberts was like "it's out of my hands" which it really wasn't." - You can believe what you want. Roberts was doing what he is told to do. He is the manager of a baseball not the judge, jury and executioner. He did not start Bauer after these allegations. He did not put his employer in a bad spot. He's been put in a terrible spot and people trying to go at his character for being in the wrong place at the wrong time is shameful. "I don't think with the story out there as it was, the Union would find this such a terrible decision." - Do you understand how Unions operate? They don't give up any ground ever regardless of the morality of the issue.. They filed grievances when the MLB tried to extend administrative leaves with both Addison Russell and Domingo German.
  12. Man that Goldstein is an idiot. He's getting this subject explained to him by an elementary school math teacher when he wrote an article about it.
  13. I am glad you found some bloggers, a WWE writer and Keith Olbermann (LOL) to either loosely support your thoughts or take exception to what Bauer is accused of. I also think what Bauer is accused of is heinous and disturbing. However, you'll notice none of your bloggers or the charlatan that is Keiht Olbermann are speaking to the policy or the MLB's and MLBPA's process for dealing with these matters. That is because they are looking for clicks on social media. The severity of the woman's statement do not remove the need for an investigation and legal process. Based on what's been said and how Bauer responded, it seems the woman will get justice as he's not even denying some awful and clearly illegal acts. It sucks the legal process takes time to play out but that's how the legal system works. I am just speaking to the facts of the matter. The MLB's domestic violence policy is very clear. The Dodgers were clear that they were following the MLB's lead. The MLB's domestic violence policy is clear that the initial action sits with the Commissioner. The MLB put him on administrative leave quickly enough where he did not return to the field after the allegations came to light. The situation is playing out in line with the way the joint agreement intended. Whether you agree with it or not is a different story. People can be upset with Bauer, that's fine but the Dodgers and the MLB haven't done anything wrong...yet.
  14. Wes Helms said Burger was in and out of the dugout yesterday so I think he was with Charlotte last night.
  15. Facts with sources? You should try it. Makes for better reading than baseless bluster.
  16. The MLB and MLBPA's joint policy is very clear that the initial authority to discipline lies with the Commissioner's office. The Dodgers have been in contact with the commissioners office and are doing what the Commissioners office told them to do. The lack of an immediate response is likely due to the MLB wanting to delay the start of their investigation/administrative league "official" clock as long as possible. The Dodgers are doing what they should be doing given the joint agreement. Nothing they did was spineless. "Initial authority to discipline Players for events that include violations of this Policy (including all aspects of the incident from which the alleged violation arose) shall repose with the Commissioner’s Office. The Commissioner’s Office will retain authority to discipline Players under this Policy until it provides the Players Association and the Player with notice that it is transferring such authority to the Club." http://content.mlb.com/documents/2/9/2/296982292/Major_League_Player_Joint_DV_SA_CA_Policy_English_2018.pdf You have now besmirched the best organization in both leagues because your initial reaction to news stories is to spew anger and name call and not to look into the facts and circumstances of the matter.

  18. Harvin Mendoza handling Kanny after struggling at Winston Salem to start the year. Hitting .297/.387/.440/.826 with 18/13 K/BB and a .338 BABIP in 106 PAs in Kanny. Mendoza went .107/.298/.234 in 57 PA's with W-S. Walked 14% of the time with a 15.8% K rate. BABIP was only .184. He's 22 and no one of substance is blocking him at W-S. Probably time for another go around.
  19. I didn't hear about that. Do you remember where you read that by chance? re: Sanchez being fat.
  20. And I believe TLR confirmed Leury is not hurt this morning.
  21. LaRussa's explanation for sitting Leury made no sense. He's basically played every day most of the year. If he needed an off day why didn't they just put Mendick in the lineup to begin with? I am curious if Leury was late to the park or something and TLR is punishing him but wants to keep it in the clubhouse.
  22. I really think the Sox should talk to the Rockies in the last days of July and see where they are at on Story. All the good teams have good shortstops except Oakland. With such a limited market, the Sox should at least try to clear the bar to give the Rockies more than what they would value a comp pick at. Plus the Rockies would save whatever remainder of Story's contract is left ($5M or so). A team ran by ownership (no leadership in front office right now I believe) may find the additional cash savings + a diversified package more enticing than one comp pick.
