2nd Base I guess it’s going to be Sosa or Gonzalez?
Agreed all around.

Negative value player defensively. 100 wRC+ career hitter against RHP. Not a bargain at $10-11M. 2.7 fWAR in 22 was best season since 2019. I don’t think he’s a 4 WAR player moving forward - if other clubs thought he was, Yanks could certainly do much better than Garrett Crochet elsewhere. Look, I said I’d do that deal. I just don’t think Gleyber is a good fit at all. Not because of Romy - Romy is just a guy. But I’d rather get someone who at least does one of hit righties well/LHH or plays plus defense, especially if we’re giving up Crochet and paying Torres $10M+. It’s a fine deal, but it’s far from perfect. But Sox don’t exactly have a lot of options.

Yah, I’m not a big Gleyber guy. He’s sort of more of what we have. RHH, not great defensively. Doesn’t hit RHP that well. Obviously a huge upgrade on Romy/Sosa, but it also effectively blocks Sosa until 2025. Id probably do the swap for Crochet just because Sox have horribly managed him and he’ll probably never start for the Sox. But it’s not a deal I’d be overly excited about, tbh.

I struggle to see why NYY would make this deal unless they’re simply looking to get rid of Gleyber. Which isn’t super encouraging.

Sox Sign Jake Marisnick to minor league deal, NRI
He opted out of his milb with the Mariners just last year, so yah…pretty sure he’ll have an opt out. Doesn’t mean he has to use it.

La Stella makes a ton of sense as an milb flier. The awful defense scares me, but what's the harm in bringing him in for the league min if he makes the roster? I certainly wouldn't guarantee him a roster spot, however.

Would TLR be the 2023 White Sox manager if healthy?
No. The answer is no. We'll never know for sure, but I am sticking with no. Any other scenario is too hard to hard to bear. Did I mention no?

Really confuse Marwin Gonzalez and Jake Marisnick, eh?

Sox Sign Jake Marisnick to minor league deal, NRI
It depends on what their contracts say. They are all milb guys, so no they don't have to be on the 40 man. They likely have opt out dates if they haven't been added to the active roster. Hamilton and Marisnick almost certainly will. Reyes maybe not since he doesn't have much of a track record.

Marisnick was at one time an absolute wizard in the OF. I am sure he’s not quite that but this is a very good guy to get on an milb deal. Instantly jumps to top of the 4th OF depth chart imo.

Carlos Correa is a Twin - 6 yrs $200M
It was. That was before a 2nd team supposedly backed out. That offer is no longer on the table (I know that).

Frazier would have been a great fit.

We are in complete agreement.

Carlos Correa is a Twin - 6 yrs $200M
My guess is their concern is about paying him on the back half of the deal with whatever this medical issue. He isn't getting a 10+ year deal any longer if the Mets officially walk. Twins signing him to like 5-6 year deal at $35Mish AAV would be awful.

It would if it was actually dead spending. I obviously am not privy to Correa's medical records, but I think the chances he comes dead money anytime soon is remote.

Who? There isn't a better alternative on the 40 man roster. They're paying Leury regardless. Cutting Leury and signing like Jonathan Villar - what does that accomplish other than spending more $? The constant Leury handwringing is so dumb. It was a terrible deal; we can all agree on that. But there really is no reason to cut him right now.

Twins getting Correa on a great deal due to this fiasco would be a terrible outcome.

But why not concern yourself with far fetched scenarios?

Grifol told Eloy to get some work in RF
One game? I literally predicted he’d start 20 games in LF in this very thread.

2nd Base I guess it’s going to be Sosa or Gonzalez?
I’m no Leury fan and didn’t and still don’t understand the extension beyond TLR wanting his guy. But the if we weren’t paying Leury we could have Duvall analysis is worthless because they are stuck paying Leury.

If Benintendi gets hurt, perhaps. Benintendi is the LF now and they aren’t playing Eloy there over him.
-
2nd Base I guess it’s going to be Sosa or Gonzalez?
The whole Leury thing is so overplayed by Sox fans. First off, the Sox dumped more money just last year on Keuchel. So there is precedent. Secondly, Leury can be a useful bench player. Tony just criminally overused him and he got buried in his failure. I would not be surprised in the least to see Leury rebound to the .270/.325/.375 type player he was from 17-21. For $5M, that's earning your paycheck.

Grifol told Eloy to get some work in RF
He literally just told him to be ready. I don't think the Sox plan to play Eloy in RF much, if at all. But does it really hurt for him to be prepared for it? He's obviously not playing much LF now with Benintendi in the fold. I think Eloy's 2023 will shake out as follows, assuming he's mostly healthy: DH: 125 GS LF: 15 GS RF: 5 GS

Sheets has a career 118 wRC+ against RHP. He's an awful defender anywhere you put him, but on a team with as many injury concerns as the Sox have and a clear lack of left handed thump, I find him to be quite useful to have around until he's out of options.
