I don't see this happening if Jake is still hitting the ball. Besides AV, Jake is making the best contact on the team. I'd rather DH him and sprinkle him in at 2B and 3B (assume Yoan will get plenty of rest in the early going). Sheets is the guy I'd sent to AAA right now. Of course, if Jake has a terrible next 3-6 games before Yoan returns, that changes things. Things can change in a hurry at this point in the season.

Last season it was this idea that the boys were being conserved with a big division lead and the flip would be switched a week or two prior to the playoffs. The flip never got switched, and we have a senile man still trying to find it 6 month later.

Easy to say right now after Bummer has been terrible to start the year. I am probably one of the biggest Chris Paddack fans that isn't a PAdres or Twins fan, and I wouldn't do that deal. You couldn't subtract Kimbrel, Bummer and Crochet from this bullpen the week before Opening Day just to add a SP that has half a UCL and is a ticking timebomb. Paddack has looked OK so far, but as teams see him multiple times the 2 pitch mix is going to hurt him. You also have the fact that if the UCL does eventually go, he's a non-tender. Also Jace Fry is nothing like Aaron Bummer except for the side of their body they throw with.

Id keep him right where he is. The mirage will fade. Fine sprinkling him into higher leverage spots earlier in games or if others are unavailable but I’m not giving him Bummers role just yet.

I think the boys will come around with time, but these last 10 games and incredibly hard to watch. No doubt about it!

McGuire is putrid offensively and frankly whatever goodwilL be built up early has evaporated with a dog shit defensive effort the last 7-10 days, including potentially costing us the game today.
