Honestly, Moncada's lowerbody looks like it could use a day after yesterday. Grandal won't be back until Friday at the earliest, IMO.

Giolito only guy in the 20-50 range so far. Eloy HM. Have to imagine Robert is top 20, and Moncada has to be as well since he isn't mentioned yet. Doubt TA makes the list, but I feel like he should have been an HM.

Honestly they should see if McCann can play a little RF against LHP when Grandal is able to play. I doubt he’d be awful.

Honestly, I'd rather have brought up Micker just to get the starts against LHP, but I know we need a real 4th OF and he ain't it. Crazy how the Sox are thin at both IF and OF with a 28 man roster. Leury makes a big difference in that regard.

Should just bring up Yermin and DFA Cuthbert and throw him out in RF against the lefties for now. Half kidding and know it would be super ugly, but Mazara may as well be swinging a pool noodle against a lefty.

Lol, Yasmani Grandal was suspended for taking testosterone in 2012, 2 years after he was drafted. It is a complete non issue. Grandal is one of the very best catchers in the game. They've played 22 games in a weird ass season. He hasn't been great, but he's going to be just fine. His OBP is .347 and his career OBP is .348. His slugging is way down, but he's going to be fine.

Can also add Castillo, Yolmer and Goins to that list as well. More stupid decisions by Renteria.

Completely agree - but how much of a chance is 15 PA across 22 games? Not that I am really advocating for Collins playing more than he has, but I just don't think a guy like him can really get it going without somewhat regular at bats.

I dont necessarily disagree, I just think the Sox want to keep 3 catchers so they can regularly get Grandal and McCann in the lineup together, and they don't view Mercedes as anything more than an emergency catcher. But yeah - I'd rather have Mercedes batting than Collins at this point. But I also don't think getting a handful of at bats a week has really been a fair representation of what Collins can do. Tough to get going like that. Feel for him a bit.

Excited for Luis, but not exactly sure what purpose he serves. OPS'd .675 in AA last year. I know he plays nice defense and we're a little thin there I guess, but just don't really see when he's going to play. Not that Cuthbert serves a purpose either.

Yeah, I mean its gotta be Cuthbert. He serves no purpose, and 40 man is full, so need to DFA someone. Cuthburt seems like the easy choice.

Exactly. Not like Sox are running into options issues with Dunning who was just added to the 40 man this offseason, and Stiever isn't even on the 40 man. Saving rotation spots for big times IFs is a good way to punt 2021. Sox can't punt 2021. The one guy I am somewhat OK flagging a spot for in Kopech come mid 2021 season, but at this point, I am certainly not counting on him and you need to have other reasonable options around in case that never comes to fruition. I think, at this point, you pretty much have to sign a upper mid rotation SP this offseason (I really like Robby Ray), unless Lopez comes back and dominates for the rest of the season, which is HIGHLY doubtful at this juncture.

I don't think MLB has actually said they WON'T play 60 games. But MLb has said IF a team does not play 60 games, they'd go by winning %. I think you have to make the Cardinals try to play 60 games. Get them on the schedule. Take all their off days. Bury them with double headers. If they end only getting 55 games in, then that's what happens. But I think you have to try. You can't just let one team play 40 games and still be eligible for the playoffs.
