  1. That trade is fantasy land man.
  2. Sox going to be hard pressed to eclipse $120M at this point. $86M committed today including all arb and pre-arb players. Even if you add Ryu/Keuchel at $20M and then a backend guy like Wood for $10M, still only at $116M. So much for those $160M payrolls some people wanted to believe would happen in 2020. I was hopeful for $130M range, but that's going to be tough to get to at this point.
  3. I mean, Benintendi is going to cost more than $22M the next htree years. His arb projection is $5M this year, likely $8-10M in 2021 and then $15M+ in 2022. So its more like $130M for those two. But yah, I guess maybe its close if they literally just dumped Price and Benintendi on us for no return. But that is not going to happen.
  4. True, but apparently there is a line of teams interested in Price, so clearly Hahn doesn't have THAT much leverage. Bloom can just tell him to get bent. I just don't see this as anywhere close to a realistic deal for the Sox.
  5. Yah, Abreu deal was a fucking joke. Made my blood boil when Hahn cited that as part of the Machado money. At the end of the day, the Sox are never going to be free spenders, so overpaying our 1 dimensional DH never made any sense unless blowing by $150M payroll during the window was no longer an issue. Pretty obvious that isn't the case after the WM.
  6. I will believe any deal involving price to the white sox when it happens. I think its more likely the Red Sox kick in a bunch of money and the Sox send along Vaughn than it is that the Red Sox just hand us Price, Benintendi, pay down the price deal AND we only give up scraps. Just seems way too good to be true, IMO.
  7. I wouldn't read too much into that. There is no way the Sox aren't checking in with Ryu. He may prefer to stay west coast, but teams like MN and TOR shouldn't be mentioned then either.
  8. Yes. Yes he was/is serious.
  9. Meh, last offseason was very clearly a year early IMO. This was the one. Unfortunately we lost a lot of options to early extensions, we got spurned by Wheeler (which I still think may end up being bullet dodged in a year or two), and the rest of the premier stuff got scooped up at insane AAV prices. But none of that is going to change next offseason, sooooooo...yeah.
  10. At some point, there needs to be a sense of urgency. If its not this offseason, it fucking better be next because the clock is ticking on all key pieces of the puzzle in 2020.
  11. Ahhh...just saw the josh nelson thing. Can't access twitter links at work.
  12. For those that don't want to support the trolls and fearmongers at Soxmachine, what did he have to say?
  13. Did we lose anyone in minor league phase?
  14. Yah, you mentioned that a few minutes ago, and about 5,000 times since last inter. We get it, its old news. Move on.
  15. I don't think Twins would let MadBum go to the Sox on a 3 year deal.
  16. I mean, we did sign arguably the best position player fit available on the FA market. Let's not forget that. Any offseason that includes Grandal was a huge step in the right direction - obviously the 2-3 weeks since have been shitty - but there is still time to go.
  17. anyone have a link to the video? Can't seem to find it - usually mlb.com has one.
  18. Just sign Ryu FFS. He's better than Price anyway.
  19. The one thing to keep in mind is that the Twins are in equally as tough of a spot as the Sox SP-wise - they still need at least 2 SP - and the Indians are looking to trade their two best players in Lindor and Kluber. This division is wide TF open. I think the Sox would be just as well or better positioned to add Ryu and Keuchel than the Twins. I doubt MadBum leaves California with LAA's pitching needs - I personally don't want him very much, but was hoping Twins would overpay for him.
  20. Yah, we're on the same page.
  21. Yah, I really don't think Ozuna/Castellanos are in the cards, and personally I prefer that. But at least go sign Ryu, a vet pen arm, and a back end SP. Honestly, I am fine the with Mazara/Leury/Engel platoon for 1 season. Probably a pipedream, but Betts and Springer in RF long term is a fuck load better than Ozuna/Castellanos, and at this juncture, we're still going to have a fuckton of money to spend next offseason. Tough to count on that at this point, but I think its pretty obvious the Sox want the last major piece of the puzzle moving forward to be a good fit, and not a forced fit.
  22. I think its less about the trade itself, and more about settling for a pretty meh player in RF. If the Sox had signed Wheeler, or even Ozuna, I don't think most posters would give a rip about rolling the dice on Mazara as a platoon bat. Its the order of moves that has everyone frazzled, and the fact they came about and pretty much said he's the RF next year. Which obviously is what they were going to say regardless of whoever was acquired.
  23. Yah - I mean, I didn't hear whatever fathom is referring to. Just relying what I heard from Boras on Tuesday. The top end guys we're never happening. But hopefully Sox still in contact on Ryu. Ryu would still be the best move they can make on the FA market right now, and he's still available.
