  1. Believe he is signed through next season (originally a 3 year deal). Usually teams don't let managers go into a season a lame duck.
  2. Someone has to fill the 5th starter role. Maybe they sign a veteran they can flip, with the hope that Dunning is the rotation by midseason. But I think Stephens will be given an opportunity at some point (probably a few starts in September, and the 5th starter role is to start next year).
  3. I will be disappointed if Renteria's contract is renewed. Girardi is out there - no idea if he would be interested, but the Sox should be trying to get him.
  4. He certainly has had his fair share of injuries. But that is how you find an undervalued asset. It certainly is going to affect his FA market, as will his QO assuming he gets one. He is really good when he is healthy. If he didn't have an injury history, he'd be getting a monster FA deal.
  5. Pretty sure Martin is signed through next season. I thought he was a FA as well, but was corrected, and he is indeed controlled for next season.
  6. Depends on how much the QO hampers his market and lowers the asking price.
  7. Lol, excuse me...65% of a season above A ball.
  8. Yep. I hope they dabble in the FA. Shoot for the moon with Machado, but ultimately fall a little short in someone like Dozier for 3B. I think AJ Pollock makes a ton of sense for this team. Pollock - CF Moncada - 2B Abreu - 1B Eloy - LF Garcia - RF Dozier - 3B Castillo - C Palka / Davidson - DH Anderson - SS BN: Narvaez, Leury, Yolmer, Tilson Rotation: Rodon, Kopech, Lopez, Giolito, and Stephens Bullpen: Jones, Burdi, Hamilton, Fry, Vieira, Avilan, Covey Probably not a contending team, but they could be decent without hampering the future. No big time prospects are blocked at 3B and CF for 2-3 year type deals.
  9. If the Sox wait until ~ April 20, 2019 to call up Eloy and Kopech, they will own them through the 2025 season. If they bring them up before that, they will own them through the 2024 season. The Super 2 cutoff (which would give the Sox 3 arb years instead of 4) is usually in the middle of the June. I see almost no scenario where they're kept from the big leagues that long unless they're hurt.
  10. The same people who howled for a rebuild are the same people on twitter and on here that show zero semblance of patience for Eloy and Kopech, the cornerstones of the rebuild along with Moncada.
  11. He doesn't seem to be the type of guy that is going to get too shaken up by it. He literally laughed it off.
  12. Or he knows he's played less than half a season of games above A ball.

Palka. Matty has had his chances and is what he is. I do, however, think both will be on the roster to start the season. And if only one is, it will be Matt, because Palka still has options and Davidson does not.
  14. I think the next 55 games will be rough. So don't know if this is rock bottom. But I expect the Sox to be MUCH improved in 2019. Probably not contention improved, but at least flirt with .500 for most of the year.
  15. What is he saying is that if Moncada (or Lopez or Giolito) were held in the minors until May 2018, they'd be out of options.
  16. HE HAD AN OPS over 1.000.........of course he was "ready". The Astros clearly were controlling service time, and I am sure they are very happy they didn't make a short sighted decision.
  17. Look at my Springer post. Same circumstances.
  18. Meh. Lindor slashed .276/.338/.389 in 2014, his last full year in the minors. He did about the same (only slightly better) in 1/2 season the next year before getting the call. I wouldn't say that isn't good.
  19. Take George Spring for example. He debuted in 2014 after 55 minor league at bats. In 2013, he slashed .303/.411/.600 across AA and AAA, You don't think he could have played in bigs at the end of 2013, or to start 2014??? IT IS LITERALLY THE EXACT SAME THING.
  20. They all apply because the team waited until the next season to call them up. Any of those guys get September cups of coffee, they lose a year.
  21. Yah, pretty shitty logic IMO.
  22. Generally top 5 ELITE ELITE prospects don't sign early career extensions. The list is very short.
  23. Mmmhmmm. Eloy has 101 AAA t bats. 273 AA at bats. So he has less than 375 at bats above A ball. And has missed decent chunks of the last 2 seasons due to injury. This isn't some travesty. If Eloy continues to absolutely rake, its going to be tough to continue to spin the story. But I don't think the White Sox are doing some grave misjustice to the kid, or severely hampering his development. That's a bit over the top, IMO.
  24. Again, the Padres sent money to the Sox with Shields. ***IF*** Shields is claimed, those dollars do not go with him. In other words, if someone claims Shields today, they'd be claiming ~$7M of his remaining obligations. Therefore, no one will Shields. He was almost certainly was put on waivers last night, or will be today, will clear within however many hours it takes, and will be free to trade with any club within a day.
