  1. Completely hypothetical 3 way with Jays and Pirates: Jays get Cutch Pirates get Q, Reid-Foley Sox get Glasnow, Newman, Vlad Jr., & Tellez
  2. I know it's not in Jerry's nature, but wouldn't it make sense to pick up some of Q's money to extract more value from the Pirates? Then you can let Cutch regain value during the season, trade him at the deadline, and move Meadows in. Sox could ask for Glasnow, Bell, and Newman.
  3. Food for thought if Glasnow is "headlining" this package: Baseball America has Glasnow as the third best prospect in the Pirates system behind Meadows and Keller in the 2017 Top 10 Prospect Index. If he is truly the headliner, I would be expecting Rutherford and Newman as well since his star has lost a little bit of it's luster among scouts.
  4. Not sure the infatuation with Andujar, his numbers across the minors have been incredibly meh. If they complete a 3 way, I'm hoping it's more along the lines of: Pirates get Q Yankees get Cutch Sox get Glasnow, Rutherford, Newman, Kaprielian
  5. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 11:55 AM) I proposed a Happ, Jimenez and Candelario deal for Quintana as a possibility I doubt either side accepts that, but as a purely baseball trade it would be a good deal for each side I would send Q to the Cubs for that package. You basically have your entire roster settled by 2019 that way. C Collins 1B Abreu/Collins 2B Moncada SS Anderson 3B Candelario LF Happ CF ? RF Jiminez DH Collins/Abreu
  6. I think Meadows, Newman, and Keller for Q would be the perfect package for Q. Just think about your potential 2019 lineup: C Lucroy/Collins 1B Collins/Abreu 2B Newman/Moncada SS Anderson/Newman 3B Machado/Moncada LF Moncada/? CF Meadows RF Basabe DH Abreu/Collins SP: Giolito SP: Rodon SP: Kopech SP: Lopez SP: Hansen CL: Burdi SU: Fulmer SU: Stephens RP: Clark f***ING LIT
  7. I'm still not ruling out a 3 way trade involving the Mets. If the Sox did actually ask for Conforto, I could see him coming to the Sox with prospects from Pirates as well: Mets get McCutchen, Robertson Pirates get Q Sox get Conforto, Glasnow, Keller, Smith, Dunn
  8. Could Sox fans be happy with a package that doesnt include Meadows? Something along the lines of Glasnow, Bell, Newman for Q?
  9. QUOTE (shakes @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 08:45 AM) I believe he meant the Pirates, who are very good at developing pitchers. Although, I will say the pirates seem to be better at scouting and developing major league pitching talent, and Glasnow only threw 23 major league innings. Ah ok, that makes more sense. Searage is the man for sure.
  10. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 08:35 AM) My only comment re Glasgow is while I'm all about grabbing top pitchers from Nats they couldn't get a handle on I'm less bullish we can turn around a prospect they couldn't develop themselves. They are probably better than us at this. You think the Nationals are better at developing pitchers than the White Sox?
  11. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 08:32 AM) Decline in prospect terms means they aren't making the progress they once were. May be overcome, or it may not be, but it needs to be discounted from player value. He had a 1.93 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, and 11.1 K/9 last season. How much better do you need him to be?
  12. Pirates have signed Ivan Nova. Either they are preparing to trade Glasnow or they are out on Quintana.
  13. The Mets “haven’t made a serious inquiry” about a trade for White Sox closer David Robertson this winter or at the last trade deadline, though New York hasn’t ruled out the possibility, Kristie Ackert of the New York Daily News reports. Chicago would ask for Michael Conforto in any Robertson deal, however, so it could be hard for the two sides to settle on a deal. The White Sox weren’t looking for a big prospect return when they explored moving Robertson at the deadline, Ackert writes, though their current ask of Conforto reflects this offseason’s huge market for relief pitching.
  14. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Dec 21, 2016 -> 02:46 PM) Are you referring to Justin Dunn or Kevin Plawecki as the final piece? There is a huge value difference between those two players This proposal effectively swaps McCutchen for Conforto straight up. Which I'm not sure makes sense to the Pirates. Mets effectively only give up Conforto/Gsellman/ (Dunn and Plawecki have hugely different values) for McCutchen + Jones which feels light I dont think Rosario goes anywhere. I could see them including Dominic Smith, but not sure it makes sense to have both Smith and Bell coming to the Sox unless one is to DH.
  15. QUOTE (hi8is @ Dec 21, 2016 -> 02:40 PM) You think they view Conforto and Meadows evenly? Seems to me they're really high on Meadows. No? But adding an ace in Q and cushioning the blow of losing Cutch/Meadows by acquiring Conforto makes sense to me.
  16. QUOTE (hi8is @ Dec 21, 2016 -> 02:36 PM) How are the Pirates trading McCutchen and Meadows? Shift Marte to CF and Conforto to LF?
  17. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 21, 2016 -> 02:26 PM) I'm so on board with this. Mets get - McCutchen, Robertson Pirates get - Q, Dominic Smith, Nate Jones Sox get - Conforto, Meadows, Bell, Newman, Dunn That would be fair for everyone IMO. I could see something more along the lines of: Mets get - McCutchen, Jones Pirates get - Q, Conforto Sox get - Meadows, Bell, Newman, Gsellman, Dunn/Plawecki
  18. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Dec 21, 2016 -> 01:57 PM) The #Rangers are another club that's inquired on #WhiteSox Jose Quintana. But Texas is probably not serious suitor unless price drops. https://twitter.com/jcrasnick/status/811660260574380032 The teams discussed Quintana at trade deadline. Heard #WhiteSox wanted Profar and a "lot more.'' The ask was too steep for #Rangers tastes. https://twitter.com/jcrasnick/status/811660399171014656 They have nothing to offer anyways if Mazara isn't part of the package
  19. I really think this ends up being some sort of 3 way with the Mets. Makes too much sense for all 3 teams.
  20. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 21, 2016 -> 10:54 AM) I know I'm putting some sort of cart device ahead of a horse-like animal, but to me Meadows is equal to getting a Bregman/Swanson etc. He needs AAA time, but this is a big time offensive prospect. And I know I'm counting some sort of animal harvesting shell before the animal pops out, but a future of Anderson, Moncada, Meadows, Collins is With that pitching too
  21. QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Dec 21, 2016 -> 10:11 AM) I think a realistic package has to start around one of Meadows/Bell. Obviously, Medows is much more enticing but I also think he's much more unrealistic. Would everyone be happy with a package of Bell, Newman, Keller & lower level guy? That's 3 top 100 guys & a throw in like with Boston. The caliber of prospects isn't as high as the Sale deal but there's a bit more depth to this one. I would probably be ok with that package depending on the last player. Would make sense for the Pirates too. They could flip Cutch to the Mets and get Dominic Smith and Justin Dunn back and basically replace Bell and Keller instantly.
  22. Hypothetical 3 way trade suggestion: Pirates get Q Mets get McCutchen Sox get Conforto, Newman, Dunn, Keller
  23. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 21, 2016 -> 08:30 AM) Newman's minor league stats aren't all that inspiring. Is there something good about him I don't know? .814 OPS from a shortstop is pretty, pretty good. By comparison, Anderson only exceeded .800 once and that was in 2014. In addition, Newman has an incredibly advanced approach that would be ideal at the top of the lineup. In 2016, he actually walked more than he struck out. That's insane in milb. He's got some speed and there is some belief that he has the tools to stick at SS which would make him an above average defender at 2B.
  24. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Dec 21, 2016 -> 08:26 AM) If we end up with Meadows, we likely did well. From what I've been reading lately, dude has a lot of helium. Meadows is a stud, has been for awhile
  25. If the Sox can nab Meadows, Newman, and Keller for Q, I will lose my s***. That would be the best Christmas present ever and would probably benefit both teams pretty well. Sox get guys that can make an impact in 2018, Pirates dont lose anyone from their roster next year, they get a cheap player that can help their financial situation, and the Sox get some blue chip position prospects and a pitching prospect with an insane K:BB ratio. Another interesting thought would be a three way trade with someone who wants to trade for McCutchen. The Pirates get Q, the other team gets Cutch, and the Sox get a load of prospects from both teams.
