  1. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 31, 2017 -> 11:02 PM) You wait. Kopech and Gio will not be in the bigs til September next year. Sox will not rush guys in a wasted season. I know I've been up and down on Lopez. I'm not THAT high on him yet. Do you guys think he's a lock to be a No. 2, 3 stud or are u like me and not convinced? I do worship Rodon. I'm convinced he'll be a stud, health permitting. No chance in hell you are not a troll. Gio up in September? What the f*** are you even talking about?
  2. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Aug 31, 2017 -> 02:53 PM) The Sox appear to have plans for certain players to get some experience next year to help make a legit push in '19. We know Giolito and Lopez will be in the rotation and now looks like Kopech joins them after they snag the extra year of control. Collins by the ASB gives the Sox the entire second half of the season for Collins to begin developing working relationships with the pitching staff as well as Narvaez. It's all about getting everything lined up for the first push in '19. May as well add the possibility of Eloy coming up p by the ASB with Collins. As a whole, Jimenez is more advanced than Collins so why not Eloy by the ASB? I will put straight cash on him being up before
  3. QUOTE (raBBit @ Aug 31, 2017 -> 12:34 PM) Kopech - The guy is a freak. They probably let him settle in at Charlotte and call up once he's settled. He may struggle with walks when he comes up but he's going to compete. I have no problem with having him in the rotation next may. I think Jimenez would probably follow him up after the Super 2 deadline. Adolfo - It really pisses me off the team has policies that revolve around Kopech being forced to cut his hair but then when a guy is an idiot and punches an inanimate object the team covers for him. How about a policy where self inflicted injuries make them lose money and they can wear their hair however they want? Collins - Sox seem like they're way too high on him. I like him don't get me wrong, but I don't see him flying to the majors next year. We'll see, but I think his performance is going to decide how quick he moves. Why do you feel Jimenez won't follow until after Super 2? Just a lower level than Kopech right now thus a little longer arrival time? I know you've seen me say it elsewhere, but I really don't think he has a lot left to prove in the minors.
  4. QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 29, 2017 -> 12:27 PM) Sure. I'm going to add something tomorrow to the daily update. Thank you!!!
  5. Is there anywhere we can track our magic # for having a top 5 pick? This draft is so deep, you will be able to get a stud with pretty much any of those picks.
  6. QUOTE (Jack Parkman @ Aug 27, 2017 -> 03:02 PM) Throwing strikes=Good Not missing bats=Bad Despite the great performance, I'm not encouraged that Giolito has been 90-92 today. I honestly don't know what to expect from him velocity wise. I've heard mid 90s and he's been low 90s ever since the 2nd inning of last start. That velocity is meat in the majors usually from a RHP. Not necessarily. With Giolito's size and the plane at which he attacks hitters, 92 mph can be very deceptive. He had a lot of guys swinging through fastballs yesterday. I will happily take a Giolito who is sitting 92-94 with his fastball if it means that he is throwing his offspeed stuff for strikes (which he did with regularity yesterday). His changeup is still a bit of a work in progress and can be a little straight for my liking, but he has been fooling a lot of hitters with it so far through 2 starts. The curveball is as good as advertised when he is throwing it for strikes/burying it as a put away pitch. I think the pitch of his I've been most impressed with is his slider though. He was painting it low and outside all yesterday and if he lives there with it, Gio is going to have a very long, productive career at the major league level. I'm very encouraged with what I've seen so far from him, his approach is very mature for his age.
  7. QUOTE (ron883 @ Aug 25, 2017 -> 12:47 PM) The fact that you think batting average means nothing when evaluating a prospect tells me everything I need to know. I guess that fact that he has an abysmal contact rate against guys in A ball means nothing. .366 wOBA, 129 wRC+....looks like he did fine to me in A+
  8. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 24, 2017 -> 09:08 AM) Yeah, that piece what comes to mind is I'm not gonna give up on him. Screams of a guy who figures out the one trick to keep his body right and become great. I did not see the slider he spoke of but I know he was working on a cutter. He highlighted it on his twitter feed. Jeff Long thought it was a changeup b/c his slider typically sits in the 85-87, but that movement looked all slider to me. It was a really nice pitch.
  9. CF - L. Garcia 2B - Moncada 1B - Abreu RF - A. Garcia DH - Delmonico 3B - Davidson LF - Cordell C - Iannetta SS - Anderson BE - Narvaez, Sanchez, Engel, Hanson/ W. Garcia SP - Rodon, Shields, Giolito, Lopez, Free Agent to flip when Kopech comes up RP - Jones, McGee, Putnam, Petricka, Minaya, Infante, Bummer I would try signing Jake McGee to a 3 year contract since the Sox dont have a shutdown lefty in the pen and see if they can get Iannetta for one season. He's currently 12th in framing, been solid defensively, has a .343 wOBA, and could bring a veteran presence for the young guys to work with. Ideally the FA SP they get would be a lefty, but I'd just look for someone you could flip at the deadline once Kopech is ready. The bench allows for a lot of versatility in the lineup with Narvaez and Sanchez hitting lefty.

QUOTE (Anderdale @ Aug 21, 2017 -> 10:48 PM) Greg Goldstein didn't have very positive things to say about collins and if he can stick behind the plate. Is this guy a good judge? https://audioboom.com/posts/6223607-episode...-off-the-fringe Around the 38 min mark He's a baseball prospectus prospect guy, so I would definitely listen to what he has to say. I think there are still some questions of how Collins is as a receiver. As of right now, he's throwing out roughly 41% of baserunners, but has 16 or 17 PB. A offense first catcher that can throw out baserunners is exceptionally valuable though.
  11. QUOTE (NCsoxfan @ Aug 16, 2017 -> 09:05 PM) Giolito is Floyd, Lopez is a harder throwing Vazquez If Reynaldo Lopez ends up being Javier Vazquez, this team is gonna go ham. Vazquez put up 53.9 fWAR over his career, while putting up season of 4.7, 4.8, and 4.7 with the Sox.
  12. QUOTE (Soha @ Aug 17, 2017 -> 06:56 AM) The Phllies and Giants play 4 this weekend. This would be a really good time for the Sox to lay an egg in Texas. As for predictions, I'll go with the Sox ending up with the 4th pick in the draft. The tough part of the schedule is now behind us, and most of the bottom 7 or 8 teams just don't seem to win very often. The next couple of weeks are going to be pretty ugly still. Pretty much every team the Sox play are fighting for the playoffs right now, except Detroit and SF.
  13. 2.42 FIP, 2.82 xFIP, 10.44 K/9, 2.16 BB/9 in A+
  14. Career milb line of: 114 IP, 1.97 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, 42 BB, 144 K A+ line this season of: 25 IP, 0.72 ERA, 0.76 WHIP, 6 BB, 29 K

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 31, 2017 -> 11:40 PM) Just off the top of my head but I only follow casually due to school so I box score for the most part Kopech, Stephens and Adams AAA Jimenez, Collins and Dunning AA Burger, Adolfo, Rutherford A-WS Robert A-Kanny Hansen will be in AA and I wouldnt be surprised to see Burger move up there as well if he starts out hot again next year. I think Robert starts in Kanny, but will be in WS before too long.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 30, 2017 -> 11:08 AM) He is taking way too many strikes at this point. So far I am wondering about his pitch recognition, or if he is too hesitant to swing. You're wondering about the pitch recognition of a guy that's walking at a 13.6% clip? Give me a break.
  17. Next years lineup should be: CF L. Garcia 2B Moncada 1B Abreu RF A. Garcia DH Gillaspie 3B Davidson LF Cordell C Narvaez SS Anderson
  18. QUOTE (beautox @ Jul 30, 2017 -> 09:09 PM) yes, its a big reason i think they release putnam, hes a super two and has two more years of ARB left. Putnam aint getting released with 2 years of control left
  19. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jul 28, 2017 -> 07:49 AM) Cubs got Anthony Rizzo for Andrew Cashner. After the Sox traded Chris Sale, Jose Quintana and Adam Eaton, they still don't have anyone in their organization that is likely become a player as good as Rizzo. Rizzo and Abreu's OPS are separated by 29 points
  20. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 28, 2017 -> 08:20 AM) Moncada having a pretty rough first 50 MLB at bats isn't helping. Probably a bit overwhelmed by Sox/Cubs environment. At least he's walked four times, hbp, two huge XB hits. He absolutely has to be an 875-925 ops hitter with at least average defense at second for this whole thing to work. (Waits for Robin Ventura, Mike Trout comps as to their big league beginnings/foibles.) He has a .118 BABIP, he will be fine
  21. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 11:28 AM) Can Kahnle get a top 100 prospect? I'm really not sure of that. He's such an interesting case that I'm still not sure what exactly his value is. Obviously, if you're not getting a great offer for him then you hold onto him but I'll be interested to see what happens there. His numbers are elite. They are similar to Kimbrel's. He will get a top 100 without a doubt, track record be damned.
  22. QUOTE (Sockin @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 11:23 AM) The Nationals and Dodgers had scouts watching Robertson on Sunday in addition to Yankees and Red Sox. With potentially 4 teams in on Robertson and other relievers I have to think Hahn could pull another top 100 guy for a Robertson + Kahnle/Swarzak. https://www.fanragsports.com/news/murray-do...uted-white-sox/ Robertson and Kahnle could get top 100 prospects on their own, no need to package them

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 10, 2017 -> 01:25 PM) Not that interested in Frazier as the centerpiece. Torres, yes. Rutherford yes if surrounded by enough other quality. Rutherford has 1 HR this season. Give me Frazier all day.
  24. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jul 2, 2017 -> 07:00 PM) Hopefully when he shows he is better than AAA competition. He has been very average lately and last i saw his SO rate was over 30%. After his miserable showing in Boston last fall, hopefully our FO waits until he is playing well in AAA. This is his first year at this level and he is having his ups and downs like many young players. This is a wasted year so we certainly don't want to screw up our prized young player. 1.) His K% is at 27% 2.) He has played 5 weeks above A+ prior to this season 3.) Over the last 28 days, his slash line is .273/.409/.477/.886 4.) Prior to yesterday's game, he was sporting a 132 wRC+ 5.) He is really good and is playing really well in AAA
