  1. It's where he's going to play at the major league level

    Promotions

I dont see any of the Charlotte RP depth blocking Hamilton's arrival in Chicago. I dont know if any of those guys warrant a serious look once they start dealing some of the guys at the major league level. Maybe Vieira, but that's probably it.
  3. When do we start to see some? I appreciate the Sox new commitment to making sure their prospects dominate at the levels they're at before moving them up, but I think we need to start seeing some promotions soon. Specifically, I'm interested in clearing up the OF a little in WS, maybe seeing Hamilton in the majors soon, moving Gonzalez up to WS, and Johnson up from Kanny. Do we see any movement before Robert and Hansen come back?
  4. Planning on being there, looking forward to finally meeting some folks
  5. It's like everybody overreacted to a slow start with a new swing
  6. I know it won't happen, and he doesn't really have the track record to back up a top 5 pick, but Jonathan India is a really intriguing option to me. Better defender than Bohm, absolutely crushing better comp in the SEC, has a little speed....I'm really curious if he could be an underslot play if they are negotiating to take Thomas in the 2nd.
  7. Kubat is an interesting potential bullpen piece. He should be dominating for his age, but his history across all levels of the minors is encouraging. Not so much a lesser known name if you follow prospects, but I think Tyler Johnson has really started to build on that pedigree that got him drafted so high out of South Carolina.
  8. No one is saying they are anchors, but they will be the compliments to the anchors. You need guys like Sanchez and Anderson on championship caliber teams. The anchors are Moncada, Abreu, Kopech, Eloy, and hopefully Robert and Hansen though.
  9. Hansen, he absolutely destroyed minor league ball last year and hasn't already had TJ
  10. He's at 1.0 fWAR after today's game
  11. QUOTE (Dunt @ Apr 17, 2018 -> 04:14 PM) Couple of things in regards to Moncada's batted ball data: -His Z-Contact% and Contact% are basically the same as last year -He's hitting the ball much harder this year, he jumped from 36% last year to 51.9% this year -Biggest differences from last season are that he's seeing a 10% increase in first pitch strikes and a 12% decrease in contact outside the zone SSS, but I would expect some positive regression pretty shortly from Moncada. I think the problem so far has been that he is getting in a hole quickly and then going after pitches out of the zone and missing when he is down in the count. I think it really is as simple for him as adjusting his approach a little, but adjustments are usually the struggles of young hitters. Once he realizes that he's going to be seeing the best pitches of the AB early in the count, he will starting attacking more and when the pitcher responds and throws less strikes, that's where his eye will be important. I'm frustrated like everyone else, but his batted ball data tells me a lot about what's going right now IMO. Positive regression came more quickly than I expected
  12. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Apr 18, 2018 -> 11:36 AM) Too much to do at work for me to post Kiley draft snippets in case anyone wants to head that up. Some good stuff in there already. I asked about Bohm's defense today and here's what I got: Dunt: You guys believe that Bohm has the ability to stick at 3B, but his defensive numbers on the surface suggest that he hasn’t been great there this season. Where have his defensive struggles come from? Kiley McDaniel: We don’t use those defensive numbers on big leaguers with professional scorers keeping track so it would be pretty silly to use those on college players in small samples. Some think he won’t be able to play 3B long-term, but I do and I think a majority of scouts do. He’s 6’4, though, so it’s not like it would be a huge upset if he moves eventually.

QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Apr 18, 2018 -> 01:20 PM) Why do all these highly regarded arms have control issues? Lopez, Kopech, Cease, etc. Velocity.

QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 18, 2018 -> 11:59 AM) Cease hit the wall. Keep starting, but he may be David Robertson in the long run. Im not really sure where the David Robertson comps keep coming from with him, they really arent similar
  15. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 18, 2018 -> 09:52 AM) I really wish there was a high school position player to take underslot at #4. The college bats have risen throughout the process just like they always do. They just have no margin for error. Alec Bohm will be 22 years old in August. If he has any setback at all, then he isn't debuting in the big leagues until he's 24. Madrigal has to stay at SS. Swaggerty is solid too but he just doesn't seem like a guy good enough to go #4. If they could sign their favorite HS position player or even Liberatore for like $5 million, that might be the best play. I'm expecting them to take a college bat at this point though. I think you might be able to get Scott, Kelenic, or Turang for a discount

  17. Im all for drafting Madrigal. Above average to plus tools pretty much across the board. I want a guy I know is going to hit at the next level and I have the least doubts about him.

  19. QUOTE (GenericUserName @ Apr 15, 2018 -> 06:34 PM) Whoever said they liked Torres was on to something. Probably if he keeps it up he is probably gone before the second round.
  20. QUOTE (GenericUserName @ Apr 10, 2018 -> 08:05 AM) Full draft top 125 from 2080 baseball. They have an interesting take on Turang. Also there seems to be some consensus forming on the top tier. This Lenny Torres Jr. kid around our second pick has some pretty electric stuff
  21. Giolito throws well tonight but the Sox strike out 12 times against a dominant Berrios
  22. QUOTE (BrianAnderson @ Apr 12, 2018 -> 10:22 AM) This is off topic - but I can't seem tot get a response from Kimski at all ---- not going to lie, they have the WORST customer service. Do any of you know if Kimski is open before weekday Sox games? I'm almost positive Maria's is, but not sure if Kimski is. I want to go before the Seattle series (Wednesday 1:10pm) day game. I've called three time during open hours, emailed, and tweeted at them over the past two weeks to ZERO response. Their site says they open at 5pm during weekdays, but was thinking there'd probably be an exception for Sox games? It is a pretty hard and fast 5 PM opening. It's pretty stupid, but the food is really good.
  23. QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 11, 2018 -> 10:18 AM) The bullpen sucks. While I agree they've failed the eye test, their peripherals are pretty good now that Infante and Minaya are gone: Jones 2.08 ERA, 1.43 FIP, 3.11 xFIP, 10.8 K/9, 2.08 BB/9 Bummer 2.70 ERA, 0.95 FIP, 1.82 xFIP, 13.5 K/9, 2.7 BB/9 Rondon 0.00 ERA, -1.24 FIP, -0.62 xFIP, 19.29 K/9, 0 BB/9 Avilan 2.08 ERA, 1.66 FIP, 2.67 xFIP, 12.46 K/9, 4.15 BB/9 Soria 6.75 ERA, 4.55 FIP, 3.47 xFIP, 11.25 K/9, 2.25 BB/9 Farquhar 3.00 ERA, 5.05 FIP, 2.41 xFIP, 10.5 K/9, 0 BB/9 SSS, but I think they can atleast be league average now that things have shaken out a little.
  24. QUOTE (Scoots @ Apr 5, 2018 -> 01:05 PM) Would at least have Anderson having in front of Leury the way he's been swinging, if not in front of Yolmer. Also interesting decision to start Narvaez over Castillo. I understand giving him rest, but it's opening day. You'd think you'd want to field the most "attractive" players on the field on opening day. Backup always starts day after a night game, pretty common. You could argue that he should've started yesterday so Welington started today though.
