Sure, I could live with this trade if they wanted to do that

Anderson #19, no Fulmer or Adams: http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article....articleid=28319

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jan 29, 2016 -> 08:39 AM) They've obviously explored replacing Garcia though. I don't think they are going into the season thinking that they are totally set in RF otherwise they wouldn't have been interested in Cespedes/Gordon. They have multiple agendas though which has always been the problem. They'd like to upgrade but also want to keep their draft picks. They'd like to upgrade but they won't and shouldn't trade Fulmer/Adams/Anderson. It's just a tough spot. Their system isn't good enough to keep trading guys from it and they are 16th in payroll and haven't really shown that they want to be much higher. I'd like Jackson as well but Boras is going to hold out for the best deal possible. Not sure what happens but I do believe that they are exploring ways to improve more. Right, and they have no one to blame but themselves for that. The way to fix it is spend, whether it's in FA or J2. They do neither. Fans will be tense because it seems like the FO really doesnt have a direction and that's what's really frustrating.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jan 29, 2016 -> 08:35 AM) Uh... you might want to reread his post Yup, totally misread that. Guess Im running a little hot this morning lol, thank you for the catch.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jan 29, 2016 -> 08:15 AM) It wasn't an unsuccessful offseason just because Gordon and Cespedes went back to their teams though. I really don't think it'll be a tense environment at SoxFest. I'm not positive that they're done adding from the way they are talking and this team is much improved from a year ago. While I completely agree with you on the moves theyve made so far this offseason, RF is just such a glaring hole right now and it's pretty inexcusable to have not addressed it already. Even if they do roll out with Avi as the starter, not having insurance if he fails is a massive failure on their part. Now, if you go pick up Austin Jackson, Im pretty good with this offseason. If you are going to try selling me on Avi again though, I've already seen that song and dance from the Sox. I think tomorrows town hall with Rick is going to be very tense. Partly sad I'm not going to witness it, but happy I'm not going to waste my time listening to his stock answers.

I'm interested in why they haven't signed an insurance policy for if Avi bombs. AJax is right there.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 29, 2016 -> 08:02 AM) He would really be doing the team a favor by retiring today. That would be the main Soxfest question after the Gordon/Upton/Cespedes whiff. I dont think anything is going to take that taste out of Sox fans mouths right now
-
Just don't know how you can sell Avi to the fanbase. We all have watched him the last 2 seasons, he is absolutely dreadful at every aspect of the game. To even be suitable starter, he's gonna need to be a 25-30 HR guy and nothing has ever shown he can be that. You still have holes at SS, DH, and maybe LF, you have the opportunity to improve in RF, to not address it just shows me this front office does not care about winning.
-
Solid chance I flip a table if Avi Garcia is our starting RF on OD
-
Someone please give us a thorough rundown of the GM town hall when it happens. Im not going to waste my time attending this as I already know what they are going to say.
-
If Avi is the starting RF again next season and he struggles, the front office should be cleaned the f*** out. That is not the horse I'd want to hitch my wagon to if I was Hahn.
-
I'd be extremely happy if this ended up being the move. Not only are you upgraded the defense slightly, but the offense gets a big boost: Eaton RF Fowler CF Abreu 1B Frazier 3B Cabrera LF LaRoche DH Lawrie 2B Avila/Navarro C Saladino SS I think that's a playoff caliber roster with our pitching

QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Jan 27, 2016 -> 04:54 PM) I've read a few different things stating there is an outside chance he could start the year with the team. I'm not too well versed w/ their farm system but from what I've heard, seems like he's still a bit away. Needs time in AAA. We'll see. Large knock on him at this point is his walk rate. I think the Sox really want to see him against AAA pitchers who are known to throw more off speed and out of zone pitches.
-
Are the A's serious about trading Reddick? Because I would absolutely love him on this team
-
At the same time, I think it's highly probably that Abreu, Eaton, and Lawrie can outplay their projections. I have a sneaking feeling Lawrie will end up being very good for the Sox.

QUOTE (shysocks @ Jan 26, 2016 -> 03:58 PM) If these are accurate that's great. Q finally gets a little love from ZiPS. Optimism around Saladino, catchers, bullpen surprises me. The last may be Nate Jones related? I think the catchers are perfectly capable of combining for 3 WAR, Saladino I'm not sure about being a 2 win player. You really, really need to get another OFer though, you cannot start the season with Avi in RF.

QUOTE (shysocks @ Jan 26, 2016 -> 03:43 PM) Was about to create this thread. We could use an outfielder - anybody noticed that yet? Full post at fangraphs coming tomorrow. Comes out to 38 WAR from the chart, 19 from the pitching staff and 19 from the lineup. 38 WAR roughly vaguely sorta translates to about an 86-76 record which is significantly better than I would have guessed. Yeup. A 38 WAR basically equated to a playoff team last year. Loving those projections, time to address RF and be done for the offseason.

Just interested to see where everybody is at right now. I think they add someone before Soxfest, but that might be it. Austin Jackson makes the most sense to me, I dont know that there is a big enough difference between him and Fowler to justify giving up a pick. A combo of Desmond and Jackson is really intriguing to me personally.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 26, 2016 -> 07:12 AM) http://twinsdaily.com/topic/19651-nice-read-on-kohl-stewart/ The same story we heard on Beck. Working on sinking two-seam fastball, getting groundballs and keeping pitch counts lower... Here's another on the same subject... http://twinsdaily.com/topic/10905-kohl-stewart-68-k9/ Spin that any way you'd like, but Spencer Adams had better numbers across the board at High A last season...and he was a year younger.

That 1.5 K/BB ratio, so elite

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 26, 2016 -> 05:13 AM) http://ftw.usatoday.com/2016/01/mlb-best-a...s-nationals-mlb Cubs 1, Mets 2, Indians 4, Tigers 21, Royals 22, Twins 25 (but Berrios/Stewart on the way) Are you referencing the same Kohl Stewart that's striking out less than 5 per 9 in high A? Lol!
-
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jan 25, 2016 -> 10:36 AM) For sure he would. I think it'd have to be a trade. You are correct, wonder what they would be looking for? Probably nothing substantial, right?
-
I think Rymer Liriano would be a pretty interesting claim
-
I can't believe this is all over Yoenis Cespedes. Dude is solid, but he does not deserve this type of circus.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 01:08 PM) Sale, Anderson, Fulmer, Adams for Harper. Who says no? Sox, Harper only has 2 more years of control
