@JeffPassan: When I saw the 85 in $12.85M on Byung-Ho Park bid, I figured maybe the Royals got cute. Alas, the bid is not theirs. Cross another team off. -

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Nov 8, 2015 -> 07:45 PM) They also have a DH spot. Just like us. They also have Sano -

Mariners are out per Heyman -
"Sale is a really good pitcher, but is he worth letting go of possibly the future starting catcher for the Red Sox?" Seemed pretty straight forward
-
Because Sale is not enough to get Blake Swihart now LOL. f***ing Boston fans. http://bosoxinjection.com/2015/11/08/red-s...-blake-swihart/

Wow, just watched a video of this guy for the first time. I really hope the Sox made a play for him, he is a beast! -

Rumored out: BAL, CLE, DET, SD, TEX, LAA, BOS, OAK, NYM, NYY, LAD Interesting the Sox haven't been ruled out yet... -
QUOTE (beautox @ Nov 8, 2015 -> 01:13 AM) With the rays snapping up Miller, I would love for Hahn to check in with Texas regarding Jurickson Profar. He appears to be a great buy low candidate here are his stats in the AFL .238/.314/.452 - .766 with 6BB and 7K in nearly 50AB the important thing here is health, which he appears to be. Hes been shuttling between SS and 2B with Surprise. Profar will only be 23 at the start of the year and is blocked at every infield position with texas (Beltre/Gallo 3B, Andrus SS, Odor 2B and Hanser Alberto for utility). Steamer projects him for nearly 2WAR next year. Texas is looking to bolster their rotation after letting Gallardo and Lewis go. Made a trade proposal earlier this season where the Sox would send Q to the Rangers for Mazara, Profar, and Ortiz. I think that trade would benefit both teams pretty well.
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 6, 2015 -> 04:35 PM) If they were to give him $30-35 million guaranteed for two years (and some in the WAR crowd would justify it, surely), there wouldn't be much joy in Mudville. You're really out of touch if you think David Freese will get $15/year, let alone $17 MM.
-
If Frazier cant be had for a reasonable price, I see the Sox going after Freese pretty quickly
-
Where did Schoenfield say this?
-
Engel 2-4 with a 2B. Wondering what has caused this offensive outburst.

Dave Cameron's completely random speculation of our postseason: Undeterred by a pretty lousy 2015 season, the White Sox still seem to want to contend while they have Chris Sale and Jose Abreu locked up, so I’d expect another aggressive offseason from Rick Hahn this winter. Howie Kendrick would provide a substantial upgrade at second base, and at $48 million for three years, won’t entirely break the bank. Mat Latos on a one year deal for $10 million to work with Don Cooper and try to live up to his potential seems to make some sense, and then I’m also giving them Alex Avila and the outfielding Chris Young on 2/$10M deals to provide some depth that the team lacked a year ago, while Alexei Ramirez comes back for $6 million on a one year deal to bridge the gap to Tim Anderson.Undeterred by a pretty lousy 2015 season, the White Sox still seem to want to contend while they have Chris Sale and Jose Abreu locked up, so I’d expect another aggressive offseason from Rick Hahn this winter. If that is our offseason, I will be busy doing a lot of camping next summer.

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Nov 5, 2015 -> 03:12 PM) He will. I dont know, the Mariners are in a tough spot in needing to contend right now without a lot of pieces. Their payroll is already at $95 or so without him, so not sure they want to throw almost $16 MM at him next year. You're probably right, as even the Angels are looking to offer David Freese a QO, just seems like a bad situation for them.
-
I'll be very interested to see is Iwakuma gets a QO tomorrow. If he doesn't, he would be an interesting 3 year deal guy which would allow the Sox to trade Q.
-
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 5, 2015 -> 02:07 PM) I had more of an issue with you calling him overrated Ditto
-
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 5, 2015 -> 08:25 AM) Yeah, while Kershaw is overrated and has such a low ERA due to his pitching in the NL (no DH) Trolling?
-
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 5, 2015 -> 08:04 AM) I think Anderson is two years away. 2017. I think he'll be up next year at some point, especially if the team is playing well
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 4, 2015 -> 01:42 PM) We’ve only had preliminary discussions about direction this offseason,” said executive vice president Kenny Williams. “Rick (Hahn) has to survey the landscape at the GM meetings and I’m sure once he’s comfortable will present Jerry (Reinsdorf) and I with his ideas. It’s not for me to comment on Alexei one way or another right now other than to sing his praises for what he’s done in a Sox uniform from the first day he put the hat on.” He has a grammatical error in this statement. It should be Jerry and me, not Jerry and I. Give me a gold star. Holy f*** I hope he is not serious.
-
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Nov 4, 2015 -> 12:14 PM) Anything less than $10 million for Alexei is a good deal for the Sox IMO. He gets a lot of crap from people on here, but he's still one of the better overall shortstops in the American League. He's actually the worst of the qualified SS in the AL
-
QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 4, 2015 -> 12:08 PM) He'll be back. One or two year deal. I do not like the sound of that.
-
How realistic do you think this trade would be? Quintana for Devon Travis, Dalton Pompey/Anthony Alford, and Max Pentecost
-
Is there anywhere we can look at possible rule 5 players from other teams? For the Sox, I dont think they need to protect Leury, Kevan Smith, or Daniel Webb. I would protect Tago, Phillips, Smith, Wendelken, and Jaye.
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 3, 2015 -> 05:15 PM) The problem there is spending $12 million for a declining veteran who has about five percent probability of being better in 2017-19 when they will most need him. That move is all-in for this year, then you need to deal with the majority of other major roster issues as well. 2b is the one area we have some young depth, albeit with uncertain upside. Kendrick has been a model of consistency, not sure how he's declining
