  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 9, 2015 -> 01:41 PM) White Sox are now 5 rounds into mlbdraft without selecting a position player. Does this increase the odds of hitting the Cuban market? My thinking exactly....

  3. Lot of names I hoped would fall getting grabbed right away
  4. QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 9, 2015 -> 10:59 AM) excellent and a voice of reason. i am at a dilemma at this point. i was a huge proponent of this season and this team. while i ranked on several points, i just don't know. those holes you mention, needs to be address, so should we trade off, let say, Shark, to look for those prospects. how else would they be address? re bold, is it of your opinion that the sox address it via FA's? I dont think it's out of reason to believe that the Sox may pursue Matt Wieters this offseason. Unless they can trade for a catcher, they have absolutely nothing in the system that can replace Tyler Flowers which is pretty scary.
  5. QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 9, 2015 -> 10:38 AM) let me also add, you have a great point, but before, ahhh before the Hahn era, the sox has no depth at the hitter pos in the system. i believe with Hahn that will change. but at this time, the sox are really at a crossroad, the sox has to find a way to address the holes the system has. I think Hahn has the organization in a pretty good place personally. He has a good young nucleus at the major league level in Sale, Rodon, Abreu, Q, Avi, and Eaton with some actual legit depth coming in the minors. You could have potentially two first round picks in next years draft and have relatively large salaries coming off the books in Samardzija, Danks, Alexei, and LaRoche in the next two seasons. There will be good offensive options in free agency, Sox just need to spend their money wisely. They definitely need to address C and 3B ASAP though in my opinion. I had pretty high expectations for this team this season and they have fallen well short, but that was largely me being unrealistic about the state of the franchise. I think the arrow is pointed up, I just hope they can make it count while Sale, Q, Abreu, etc. are cheap.
  6. QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 9, 2015 -> 10:32 AM) the sox were extremely lucky in drafting the #1 pitcher in Sale and signed him to an extension. now add the fact that the sox has the potential to a full set of sp's, and at this point, it maybe too early, but i don't really see a weak link. but the sox needs hitters to really set up the team with the other half of what a team needs, again hitters. so do the sox sacrifice pitchers to fill in other area of needs, who is to say, the sox will be able to get their #1 wish list. Sox need just better all-around baseball players. Guys that can hit .270 and get on base at a .330-.340 clip, but play good defense and run the bases intelligently.
  7. Thoughts on drafting Riley Farrell if he is there in the 4th? Too early to be considering relievers?
  8. Today should be pretty interesting, hoping some of these names fall to the Sox. Matuella's medicals must be really bad.
  9. It really sucks to be wasting all of Chris Sale's prime years like this
  10. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 04:15 PM) I won't beef with him against Swanson though. That kid is a stud. My favorite college hitter. He is going to be a really nice player
  11. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 03:38 PM) Zander Will just took him deep. Instantly off my board if a guy name Zander takes you yard
  12. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 03:25 PM) Jay just struck out Swanson on a nasty slider in. The back to back sliders he threw Swanson were pretty filthy
  13. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 01:14 PM) Tate or Fulmer would make me happy. The only reason we select Jay over either of them is #rotationofallofthelefties Again, you dont draft for need, you take best available. If the Sox have a rotation of all lefties down the road, so be it. I will go into battle with the Sale, Rodon, Q, and Jay as a 1-4. Does Dillon Tate's mechanics remind anyone else of Dontrelle Willis?
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 12:45 PM) https://twitter.com/MLBNetworkRadio/status/...940940083294209 Bowden mock has the Sox with Kyle Tucker, Duquette has the Sox picking Tyler Jay. Bowden is absolutely clueless
  15. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 11:43 AM) He has the White Sox taking Fulmer with Jay on the board. Swanson at 1, Bregman at 2, Rodgers at 3. He has Texas going under slot with Trenton Clark, Houston taking Benintendi at 5, and Happ 6 to Boston. Jay 9th to the Cubs. http://insider.espn.go.com/mlb/draft/mock/...-Law-Mock-Draft While Clark is a new one, the murmurs about the other 4 in the top 5 at those spots is getting pretty loud. Cant really be a coincidence.
  16. QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 11:18 AM) With the way Samardzija has pitched, I would have no problem with giving Drabek, Beck or Johnson a shot next year and spend the 16M elsewhere. There are still holes at 3B, C and 2B that money could help with. Don't get me wrong, I would rather the Sox had better choices than Samardzija, Beck, Drabek and Johnson but that's what they have for now. The Sox really need to learn not to trade with Oakland. Problem is, the only person at any of those 3 positions worth spending money on next offseason would be Matt Wieters. I'm fine with Beck or Johnson getting the 5th spot, but both of them in the rotation would not be good.
  17. QUOTE (Mike F. @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 10:54 AM) If the Sox did pick him, where would Eaton go in a few years when Benintendi is in the Big Leagues? Benntendi would probably move to corner OF
  18. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jun 7, 2015 -> 10:05 PM) Dominated one of the best line ups in college without his best stuff. Has proved it all year, if he got tired with one start even with extended rest, the pro workout plan would get him in much better shape durability wise. If Vandy makes it to the CWS, let's see what Fulmer's velocity is that start. Plus, you know, he topped out at 95 twice.
  19. Samardzija sucks. What a flop.
  20. Chicago White Sox...really bad at drafting http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/story/which-t...lb-draft-060314
  21. Excited to check out Guerra's stuff
  22. Hotter bat, equal or better defense. Let Melky get his head straight for a few games. Whatever his approach is right now just isn't working.
  23. QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 5, 2015 -> 01:17 PM) here is stuff on the mlb trade rumors. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/06/heym...ey-soriano.html I wonder if the Sox could flip Q for a package like Alfaro and Mazara from Texas?
