  1. Unless Baltimore remains obstinate about paying the prospect price ??
  2. Definitely could be a leak from Soto’s camp. Seems to be Hector’s M.O. nowadays.
  3. Maybe because he doesn’t do baseball? Or because his Bulls radio gig would likely cause scheduling issues with the Sox all over again?
  4. That's what I care about too. They need a vet backup who can show Lee the ropes until Quero is ready. No more overpriced bad catchers who get starts because of contract or past pedigree.
  5. Experience doesn't make up for ineptitude unfortunately.
  6. In all fairness, what isn't at this point regarding this franchise?
  7. I already have to half the time when Len or Beckham are on the TV call.
  8. Oh gawd, he would be like the Guaranteed Rate naming rights version of an announcer hire. That, or JR really wants one final 'f*** you' as he destroys what's left of this beleaguered fanbase.
  9. Same s%*#, ‘different’ box. It’s still just a box full of s%*#.
  10. I don’t think anyone would be upset if we were talking about prime Salvy, but we aren’t. He would just be another shitty KC import at this stage of his career. And hardly worth the cost to acquire him. Besides, it’s not like the next wave of Sox talent is already in the bigs needing the guidance of a veteran pro.
  11. I don't particularly want either one, but if signing Maldonado means no dumb franchise altering Perez trade, then sign me up.
  12. If both were FA and signed minimum contracts, I might agree with you. But Salvy comes with his hefty contract and the acquisition cost. I don't see KC being willing to part their franchise icon for cheap. Especially within the division.
  13. By all means, drive up the price. The more bidders the merrier.
  14. If Getz takes that package for Cease…yikes
  15. He is, and likely wants to cash in with a starting role somewhere.
  16. Yeah, Gunnar is the only recent graduate that has a lock on an infield position, be it SS or 3B. Mateo, Ramón Urías, and Adam Frazier aren't blocking any of their stud prospects.
  17. Mateo started 110 at SS in 2023 and 149 in 2022, with a few starts in CF. He's not much of a threat with the bat, so his hold on SS is likely tenuous at best.
  18. He actually started 4 more games at 3B than SS in 2023. His games played is split pretty evenly so far in the bigs.
  19. Severino just went to the Mets for 1/$13M coming of a much worse season than Cease, for anyone curious about the price of pitching this winter.
  20. It would be this generation’s version of the White Flag trade.
