  1. They are under no such obligation. They choose not to resolve this now.
  2. Spot on. They will hide behind excuses and pretend the outcome might matter, but we already know it won't. They've had nearly 48 hours to wash their hands of the situation and its obvious that they are standing by TLR.
  3. Further evidenced by Nightengale carrying JR's water on the most recent episode of Garfien's podcast.
  4. It wasn't even an official press release from White Sox, it was tweets quoting a statement from the Sox spokesperson. Edit - And a later Passan tweet suggesting that La Russa's job was not in jeopardy. And since then, radio silence.
  5. It was tweeted out and posted early in this thread. We've been hoping it was just an initial statement but to this point it has been their only statement.
  6. Do they dare cancel Abreu's media availability, or do they do the cowardly thing and let the above happen?
  7. My response from Reifert feels pretty canned as well. " We do care, your viewpoints are heard and your feedback is shared internally." I can only hope this is true. But I have zero faith that it permeates the chairman's thinking. His similar pivot to again selling the young exciting team is less heartening...
  8. Not totally shocked honestly. I figured he might have trouble finding a better AAV in a depressed market this winter, but hoped more total dollars guaranteed would lure him to test the waters. Oh well.
  9. He drank, he drove, he hit a curb, he was arrested, and he was belligerent to the arresting officer. Doesn't matter if it were a single glass or a whole bottle. Entitlement doesn't free you from consequence, it merely allows you to believe that you are.
  10. It's less a question of whether he deserves to lose his job, and more that his behavior should have disqualified him from consideration in the first place. If anyone else were chairman of the White Sox Tony La Russa would never have been considered for this job. The mental gymnastics one has to go though to fit current TLR into the description of what Hahn said his ideal candidate stains credulity. A DUI charge during the hiring process probably ends the process for any other club. We the fans have the right to expect better from this organization.
  11. You defend driving intoxicated and go out of your way to criticize kneeling in protest of police brutality, and further blame the media in deflection. Yet we all have lost our minds?
  12. I could see a Bochy type declining the opportunity now, but a long time bench coach likely still jumps at a shot at a managing gig. The pluses are still obvious even with front office dysfunction more openly evident. Alomar, Quatraro, & Espada would/should be on the short list.
  13. He responded to mine just now. At least someone in the org is acknowledging how livid the fans are. Unfortunately his tonal shift to selling how exciting the team still is doesn’t give me hope that our outrage will be heard by higher ups.
  14. Firing Renteria was the right move, if were done to hire someone better. We didn't get someone better unfortunately. And we now have an embarrassing catastrophe.
  15. This. They've had a whole day since the story leaked. The silence is deafening.
  16. Two DUI's and his arrogant entitled belligerence at the immediate consequence of his actions during arrest. The fact that he had to say he wasn't racist during the press conference. His total ambivalence to rampant steroid use in his locker rooms. His age, mental acuity, and current decision making. His lengthy time away from a job that is drastically more modern and advanced today. These are just off the top of my head...
  17. 'On the day of his guilty plea to the 2007 DUI, La Russa said in a statement: "I accept full responsibility for my conduct, and assure everyone that I have learned a very valuable lesson and that this will never occur again." ' Fuck Tony La Russa
