Sox looking at building in South Loop
Tailgating is fun and all, but how often are people actually doing it over a summer? Meanwhile those lots sit empty and locked 20 hours a day on most days. There is zero rational argument for keeping that much empty parking when almost anything else would be a better draw for fans and a much better use of real estate.

Cease To Padres per Passan
I was referring to the pitching prospect. The Lookout Landing write up I read called him their best pitching prospect in the low minors. Topa came on strong last season as a late inning option. I know he’s 32, but losing him hurts the backend of the bullpen for a team supposedly trying to reach the postseason.

No arguments there. Extending the same tax into the future probably satisfies the “no new tax” claim. TIF funds would likely be used for new infrastructure at the 78, new park or not. I’ll be skeptical of most anything JR sells until the dirty details come out.

If he likes it, it probably means it’s a good deal for ownership. What it means for taxpayers or fans is another story.

I’m basing that off a local blog write up on the deal. I’m not familiar with him so I could be wrong.

Cease To Padres per Passan
I’m certainly not happy. Losing Topa hurts and makes the pen thinner when they already needed better late inning options. Polanco is solid and all, but feels redundant to guys already on the roster IMO. Seems like a Kenny gets his man sort of deal for Dipoto.

Interesting. Would love to know the deets of said game changing plan.

Cease To Padres per Passan
Seattle is sending cash. DeSlafani offsets Polanco’s money, but Topa, their #4, and their best pitching prospect feels like a lot to me.

Feels like a hefty price for Polanco. I really have no idea what Dipoto is doing.

I don’t think Desclafani factored into their rotation plans.

Except you don't speak for all Southsiders. I, a Bridgeport resident, rarely partake in tailgating. If there were more options at the park, I would probably partake of those even on non game days while those parking lots sit empty, contributing absolutely nothing to the surrounding neighborhood.

- Outside the Box: Trade Cease+ for Daulton Varsho+
It would 100% be a waste of Cease. So much so that the Toronto FO might suffer broken ribs from rolling on the floor laughing after hanging up the phone. I actually like Varsho as a player, but with Benintendi and Robert already on the roster, he simply doesn't fit.- Cease To Padres per Passan
I'd be so mad if the M's acquired him.- Cease To Padres per Passan
They do need a starting 3B and a LH bat. Moncada probably could use a change of scenery too.- Cease To Padres per Passan
I keep forgetting they added Garver.- Cease To Padres per Passan
If Eloy is part of the deal that is. Which I think I floated but haven't seen it mentioned elsewhere.- Cease To Padres per Passan
Even if Cease returns to 2022 form, I still think it's a dumb move for the Mariners. Closer was their biggest issue down the stretch after trading Sewald, and it hasn't been addressed yet either. After losing Hernandez, Suarez, and Kelnic this winter and adding only Raley, bats would seem to be a close second to bullpen as their top needs.- Cease To Padres per Passan
No. And there's no real indication they're interested from what I've seen.- Cease To Padres per Passan
Starting pitching wasn't their issue last year though. And they salary dumped half of their offense this winter. - Outside the Box: Trade Cease+ for Daulton Varsho+
