Yonder Alonso. Holy s%*#. Add Nomar Mazara to the list too.

Billy Koch. I had definitely memory-holed him. Ritchie, Navarro, and Wells I know were bad, but I have no recollection of their time here thankfully.
-
I only know the name, he was way way before my time!
-
I used to refer to him as 'shart' instead. Seemed more applicable.
-
Is that even a question?!

I've done a decent job of erasing so many shitty players from memory that it was hard to come up with 10, but off the top of my head: Swisher Smardjiza (I don't care to remember how to spell his name right) James Shields Brett Lawrie Bummer Leury Gordon Beckham Adam LaRoche Adam Dunn Gavin Sheets

When the hope was bounce back guys, and instead we get warmish bodies with random letters stitched to the back of their jerseys. There's regular Sox dumpster diving, and then there's scraping the putrid grime off the very bottom. Thanks JR...

Morosi: Wouldn’t be surprised if Robert is traded
Tnetennba replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Exactly. The acquisition cost should be so painful that no team would pay it. Knowing this, If the Sox were actually looking to move him I would be concerned about their motivations, and worried that they'd be settling for far less than they should accept. -
Morosi: Wouldn’t be surprised if Robert is traded

This seems more like speculation than anything. A team as bad as the White Sox should be open to cashing in Robert, but doing so now would likely be selling for pennies on the dollar. Few teams could actually match his value in trade, and likely wouldn’t want to pay the exorbitant cost. So any trade feels like selling for less than he should extract in return, which defeats the point of moving him. -
This. Seriously Pedro, STFU. Your words ring hollow after 101 losses. Any other org and you’d be out of a job. Congrats on landing in the one with zero accountability. What a feather in your cap that is…

That lineup calls for a site vomit reaction emoji.
-
Come on now, they’d get destroyed in the KBO.
-
He’s not a gold glover, but calling brutal isn’t accurate.
-
Now you’re just being hyperbolic. Most starters don’t go 7 or 8 anymore. Cease going deeper in games would be nice, I agree. But you’re talking like he has no positive attributes as a starting pitcher, which is silly. Every team in the league would love to have Dylan Cease in their rotation, and would value him far more accurately than you have in this thread.

*Parts* of 5 seasons, one of which was his rookie call up year and the crazy 2020 season w/ no Spring Training. Not exactly a full 5 season sample where tossing out one singular very best might tell a more accurate story of the pitcher he is. Think of Cease however you wish, but I think its silly to assume he is a finished product and his 2023 is the pitcher he will be going forward.
-
If we were talking about a 5 or 6 year sample with only one Cy Young caliber season, tossing out Cease's 2022 might be a worthwhile evaluation, but we aren't.
-
No idea. If a Gonzalez / Grissom ATL package is actually being discussed, then JR has every intention of cutting every corner in a very foolish attempt to “contend” now, and those are Getz’s marching orders.
-
Not out of the realm of possibility, but a young starter w/ 2 years of control who flirted with a Cy Young very recently should be worth far more in trade than taking on bad money in return.
-
What’s the record for most losses in a 162 game season? Whatever it is, the 2024 White Sox might challenge that…
-
He was on the verge of breaking out before he broke his foot…kicking a cooler… He never found a groove again before the season was over.
-
Seattle wasted Kelenic to dump salary. JR wasn’t gonna eat that money.
-
Yeah, zero interest in what ATL has to offer. Baltimore >>, that is if they get serious about winning in the post season.
