Remember this past off season the Sox advertised for a biomechanics specialist for the first time and someone along the lines of a sleep co-ordinator. Teams have had these for years already. Like I was told when it comes to these areas "The Sox play checkers where other teams play chess..." Regarding Moncada it is not just his back, according to the Fox Sports site starting in 2018 he has had a total of seven different instances where hamstring or leg issues forced him to miss games and he also missed time with a knee. That site had him listed as missing games for various reasons a grand total of 19 times.

He's making money which is his primary interest. -
JR was selling BS but Sox fans by and large saw right through that nonsense.

Balta I've passed along what folks both inside and outside the organization have told me about the guy. Do with it what you will. All these guys wear a ton of body armor, he fouls a ball off and can't play for three days? Now I will say this, as incompetent and dysfunctional as the Sox medical, training and conditioning staffs have been for the past several years (just look at the number of people who have passed through those areas and the fact that Hahn had to conduct a deep examination of those areas, and never revealed the results) I totally agree that more serious injuries are being misdiagnosed. But I don't know of many guys who apparently are hurt as often as Moncada, and Jimenez. They got the big contracts because the Sox were trying to save money by buying out some arbitration years and it wound up biting them on the ass. These guys simply haven't shown a lot since they got them. Coincidence? Maybe...maybe not. The good news is that after this year they'll be some other teams problem.

It won't be in the immediate future true but, at some point things will get better. It's inevitable new ownership arrives at some point. -
You'd think JR would understand a basic principal in sports, winning solves a lot of problems including attendance but that takes building a real organization and spending the money needed to bring in talent at all levels. That may mean going in the red for several years until that has been established and he is so risk aversive he refuses to even consider this. (That may be because with all the national and international revenue streams for MLB he doesn't have to do anything to make money) History has shown when the Sox are winning (and by that I just mean putting a competitive club on the field) they draw well. They were the first franchise, not the Cubs, in Chicago to draw over two million for a season. When they put together years where they were in the hunt under his ownership 1981-1985, 1990-1994 and 2000-2006 they drew well.

There's no way this team is competitive in 2025 even with new ownership. It will take at least several years to clean up and clean out the rot, incompetence, dysfunction and ineptness that permeates this franchise from top to bottom.

Regarding ILoy look at the good side. If Sosa comes up tomorrow at least they won't play shorthanded for 5-10 days before figuring out he's not getting better. ? -

Exactly correct. -
No. Let those guys get real time in at the minor league level. Why rush them? To maybe win a few more games in a lost season?

Nothing will really change until ownership does no matter how many games they lose. -
I agree with some of this but from what I've been told by multiple sources (and I printed their comments in November 2022) his attitude is poor. Let's put it this way, some of those "injuries" were the type that could have been played through but he chose not to do so. The guy was the #1 prospect in baseball, he still has a ton of talent but apparently doesn't care that much especially after getting that big contract.

Bevington was bad in a very "unique" way at least...Grifol is just bad. September 30, 1997 - After controversies on and off the field (calling for a relief pitcher with no one warming up, a fistfight with umpire Richie Garcia at a steakhouse, a brawl near third base with Brewer’s manager Phil Garner) manager Terry Bevington was fired. No flowers were sent and no Sox fan (or player) shed any tears.

Honestly I wouldn't complain about that. Show the world what a total complete embarrassment the team/organization has become. -
My prediction of around Memorial Day is looking good right now.
-
The recap is the same things that have been plaguing this organization for years are still very much in play. Terrible pitch recognition, to few walks, to many strikeouts, no clutch hitting. the "so-called" best players ("Bust Brothers") suck, the bullpen chokes in key situations and oh yes...injuries.

Chasing Records — 121 losses, modern MLB record
Lip Man 1 replied to Paulie4Pres's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The team record is 10 straight losses to start a season set in 1968. These clowns have a realistic chance in my opinion to tie it. If you are going to suck than you may as well be historic about it, end the season for the fans early if nothing else. -

? This clown will be out a month. What a total complete waste of talent. The record for the most losses to start a season in Sox history is 10 set in 1968. These stiffs and buffoons have a chance to equal that mark, which would at least end the season early. Three straight one run losses and Hill doesn't look like he can get anybody out, but hey he works cheap! -

Here's a better idea why don't the Sox hire the real Brave and Dodger scouts?
-
I won't wish death on anyone, as Billy Joel sang we eventually all wind up sleeping by ourselves. What I will say is that new ownership will give the franchise the chance to start doing things in a professional manner, to be competent and functional for a change.
