  1. You really wonder if in their heart of hearts some of the players are already thinking, "Please let me play well so I can get traded at the deadline to a good organization..."
  2. But remember last August JR said he hired Getz because he didn't want to waste a year with a newcomer having to learn everything. ?
  3. They could all retire tomorrow and be financially set for the rest of their lives. We should all have their issues.
  4. It's really not mind numbing, he's making a lot of money.
  5. It was done two years ago under Hahn's direction. The results were never revealed publicly. This past year they placed an ad for a biomechanics expert as well as a sleep-expert (for wont of a better word). Alan Thomas, Dale Torborg and a number of other people were fired. I had heard Thomas disagreed with the results of the Sox injury study conducted last winter which was never released to the media or public. I was told he felt the Sox issues were only caused by the COVID restrictions. “The Sox play checkers where others teams play chess” when it comes to injury prevention, conditioning, nutrition, sleep schedules is a phrase I had heard mentioned.
  6. Half of this pitching staff won't be here next year, and of the eight players you mentioned given the history of this organization at development it would be a major get if two of those guys hit it big in the major leagues. Sorry, there's no way unless the things I mentioned happened, this team will be good in three years time...and you mention the bad division, if the "goal" is to win the crappy A.L. Central which the Sox should absolutely be dominating given their inherent advantages, I guess anything is possible. But playing with the "big boys" in baseball? You must be joking.
  7. Wish him well in his next stop. Won't miss him at all. Garfien in his podcast that dropped Monday was saying that he noticed Moncada did something in spring training. On the post game last night he was asking Ozzie who he thought was to blame for the constant injuries and Ozzie said the players because instead of baseball workouts they are working out to "look good." Regarding the issues with the medical/training staff this is what I was told by sources in November 2022: On the constant injuries “Alan Thomas (Author’s Note: Thomas was the Director of Strength and Conditioning) was let go because his son was draft eligible and he was told the Sox no longer wanted to draft sons of members of the organization. Turns out his kid is playing center field for the Diamondbacks. I’m not saying he’d be playing center field for us but he’s good enough to be in the Major Leagues. I don’t know the new guy they brought in, but guys are getting hurt left and right.” (Author’s Note: I had heard Thomas disagreed with the results of the Sox injury study conducted last winter which was never released to the media or public. I was told he felt the Sox issues were only caused by the COVID restrictions. “The Sox play checkers where others teams play chess” when it comes to injury prevention, conditioning, nutrition, sleep schedules is a phrase I had heard mentioned.) “The White Sox playing shorthanded started in 2007 when Jermaine Dye got hurt and Kenny Williams refused to call up Brian Anderson or Ryan Sweeney. Maybe they were cheap, maybe they wanted to protect Herm’s record of keeping guys off the DL.” (Author’s Note: Herm Schneider was the Sox longtime head trainer and for years the Sox were among the league leaders in keeping players healthy.) “Jake Peavy made the comment one time, ‘They have no reservations about playing shorthanded.” “You know about Mike Reinold right? (Author’s Note: Reinold is the White Sox Senior Medical Advisor) He was fired by the Red Sox because he was injecting players with Toradol.” (Author’s Note: Bleacher Report had a story on this situation published in February 2013. Here is the link to that story: https://bleacherreport.com/articles/1530943-ex-red-sox-trainer-mike-reinold-injected-players-with-controversial-substance) “Given the inordinate amount of soft-tissue injuries they have had you’d think that they would do a complete change in the training, conditioning and nutritional areas.” Bottom line as SS5K keeps saying this organization needs to be blown up from top to bottom and start over.
  8. Only if new ownership arrives there is a massive change over in the front office and millions and millions of dollars are spent on quality players will this happen.
  9. https://chicago.suntimes.com/white-sox/2024/04/10/theres-nothing-surprising-about-white-sox-awful-start-not-losses-not-injuries-jerry-reinsdorf-pedro-grifol
  10. Well the same injury has happened to the same area twice now. Different degree but the same type injury, that does say something.
  11. On the post game show Garfien was talking about all the injuries the Sox have had over the last four years and he was asking who was responsible. Ozzie didn't hesitate, "I blame the players." When Garfien asked why Ozzie said (paraphrasing) 'Because they are working out in the off season to look good they aren't doing baseball stuff.' He went on to say instead of giving personal trainers 100,000 dollars to train you he said, (paraphrasing) 'Give me 10,000 dollars and I'll have you doing baseball stuff all winter fielding, running, hitting...'
  12. I remember when Mark Gonzales was covering the Sox he had a story and I think I got the details right, from 2007-2012 the Sox spent the least amount of money on the minor league system in all of baseball. That pretty much says it all.
  13. Apparently Getz has joined the team in Cleveland.

  15. He's not fat but "lazy"...I won't argue against that.
  16. Yep. Once again he looks like an idiot.
  17. He's right it isn't his fault, it all starts with ownership. JR needs to look in the mirror. But Grifol is absolutely atrocious.
  18. Maybe said players who keep getting hurt doing a simple thing like running need to look at themselves in the mirror first. They are getting paid millions of dollars, there's no excuse why they can't hustle AND not hurt themselves. Other players can do it. They need to reexamine their training and conditioning methods and so do the Sox organization in general. But after this year it won't matter, they'll be someone elses problem.
  19. Another soft tissue injury running the bases by a guy who is built like a Greek God. Ozzie was right, fat doesn't pull. The three stooges, Moncada, Jimenez and Robert. All you can do is laugh. SS2K5 is right this entire operation needs to be burned down to the ground starting with new ownership. Until then the baseball gods are going to keep shitting on it and by proxy the fan base.
  20. True but remember JR's motto "fiscal responsibility." (They'll waste millions on stiffs, has-been's, retreads and injury prone guys...but not one dime on superstar players!)
  21. Actually it was the induction into the Idaho State Athletic Sports Hall of Fame with the Lifetime Achievement Award. ?
  22. True...I should have posted that in a separate category. But then again nothing is impossible with this bunch is it?
  23. I'm assuming you said the last part with a straight face. ?
  24. That improved defense has made six errors in the last two games.
