Later, dingus.

Sad. I thought he had some talent. I thought very wrong. Maybe he goes back to Japan? Joins Yoan with the Angels?

Definitely sad.

Another guy we had high hopes for who completely flamed out and did basically nothing but collect big money.

At least he was only $2.7 million.  What Luis Robert is doing right now is grand larceny.

Better late than never I guess.

I mean, that's pretty big money to me.

After agent fees and taxes lucky to see $1.5 million...not sure if he's also double taxed by the Cuban government.

I didn't know we had some real big pockets here on the site that think that.  Haha.

I am right there with you; I was so pumped up when the Sox signed him.

Maybe they paid him with one of those novelty oversized checks.

2.7 to 3 million dollars is big money to me and I'm guessing is to you as well.

It's a touch over 3 MLB minimum wage contracts.  It's nothing in its proper scope.

Well yeah, but since when are we viewing the Sox payroll through that lens?

Angels already picked him up.

i think there is a decent Colas produces a few seasons of being average big leaguer. I think Sox should have given him much more of a chance.

The Angels sure seem to love ex-Sox players.

"MLB minimum wage" is a very funny turn of phrase as if it isn't, like, 50 times more pay than the federal minimum wage. I wouldn't mind if some team paid me 3 million dollars (minus agent fees and my willing donation to the Cuban govt of course) to suck at baseball and hit on my teammates' girlfriends. Maybe not the last part.

Too bad about Oscar but, like, he's an idiot and was given ample opportunities. Hopefully he'll stop being an idiot and figure something out. He was OPSing under .600 in AA which is just weird, he's better than that.

It's to make the point that MLB wage scale and normal wage scale are obviously very different.  Trying to equate it to average Americans is fruitless.  Equating it to his peers is how to get proper perspective.

I'm not an MLB player.

Jerry is crying tears of joy if he ever reads this thread. It's like arguing for a $5M payroll.

88 games across 2 seasons is considered ample opportunity? Things I learned today…I still think he goes elsewhere and is somewhat productive.

He was rocking a .501 OPS in 29 games between AA and AAA this year. He’s done nothing to earn more of an opportunity.
