Saw where Manfred was quoted as saying this would help via travel and by proxy help keep players healthy. There may be some truth to this, don't know, given that teams have private charter jets, not like they are standing in line waiting to board or having to cram into coach seats.

14th time this year the team took a lead into the 7th inning or later and wound up losing the game. Garbage, up and down, in and out. I saw where it was 10-4 went to get something to eat and nearly lost it when I saw the final. Tomorrow they'll get loss #82 guaranteeing them their 13th losing season since the start of 2007. 🤡

January 31, 2003 - U.S. Cellular Company and the White Sox signed an agreement selling the naming rights to Comiskey Park. The deal was worth 68 million dollars and the contract was for 23 years. The money received by the club contained the stipulation that it could only be used on renovations and upgrades for the stadium, not say, for signing free agents. Because of said renovations U.S. Cellular Field became one of the finest looking stadiums in baseball. The Guaranteed Rate company would then secure naming rights in November 2016.

In a stadium situation like this does the interest on the debt increase over time? Does it compound? Are bonds involved that have this as part of the fee? That would explain some of it.

Maybe you are right, I don't know. I find it hard to think though that a manager like Bob Melvin, Bruce Bochy, Dave Roberts or Terry Francona would agree to that undermining of their authority.

I know you've been saying this for a while and I don't dismiss it but part of me has to think what does it say about the 'manager' that he'd allow someone in the front office to tell him who to play, what the batting order should be et al. If someone needs the job that bad that the are willing to put up with that, that tells me more about their character and I wouldn't want them managing my team.

September. Football will have started and Schriffen has been doing some stuff for ESPN, also NBA pre season games will have begun so I'm expecting him to miss more Sox games.

The point I'm trying to make is they clearly had it in for Benetti but are given Schriffen the benefit of the doubt. Missing games is missing games, period. Personally as a broadcaster myself I think the main play by play guy should work all 162 games (or how ever many is involved in a particular sport) save for a medical or family emergency. Doing games is a grind, I know, I generally do around 50-55 a year but that's what the job entails and it's not like these guys are busing to a city, they are flying and getting as many breaks and perks as possible to make it as easy as possible. One final point about Benetti remember this is what I was told by someone involved in the negotiations for my story in November 2022: “Jason Benetti’s deal with the Sox is up, the Sox hold the option for the 2023 and 2024 seasons. He went to Fox to negotiate that deal with them after he was told to do it and then come back to the Sox and they’d work something out. Jason wanted to get the deal done with the Sox first and then go to Fox or ESPN or whoever. Turns out when he came back to the Sox and said that he needs 40 days off so he can do the Fox work he was told, ‘no, that’s not happening.’ So I don’t know what’s going to happen to him or Steve Stone.” It seems Benetti wanted to work things out amicably and someone in the Sox organization decided to screw him over. And this source has been in the organization for decades, I trust what they tell me. Just my two cents. I was told Schriffen's deal is for three years but I'm also hearing that some think next year is at his option. If that's true it will be interesting to see if he decides to stick around.

If you think JR will allow him to spend money on QUALITY difference making free agents I've got a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you. With the owners going to lock out the players and try to force a salary cap as soon as 2026 ends, at least part of the 2027 season is going to be at risk. And so will his chances to make money. JR DOES NOT TAKE RISKS. Therefore the only free agents you are going to get will be the usual motley crew of stiffs, has-been's, injury prone guys and retreads just hanging on. You'll get nothing and like it on the way to another 100+ loss season.

In the seven games this season in Kansas City the Sox were outscored 34-9. 🤡

In my mind it isn't but to each his own. And who is to say Schiff isn't going to miss more games this fall.

Put it another way "hope" is no way to run a successful franchise.

They've lost 11 of 13, scored five runs in the last four games and for the 13th time the Sox took a lead into the 7th inning or later and lost the game. Wilson was responsible now for two and a half of those games. Not that it really would have made much difference but the bullpen is still terrible. Oh Taylor is NOT a relief pitcher, let the kid start.
