I read the story in the Sun-Times that said JR left before that rain delayed game with Baltimore even finished.

Interesting that the manager talks basically about everything the Sox need to be doing to turn things around but doesn't explain why they can't seem to do so or why what he and the coaches are trying to get across is falling on deaf ears.

The Sox have now scored three runs or less in 12 of their 23 games...that's 52%. And in five of the last six games. Even worse than last season when if memory serves they were at 50% exactly for the entire year.

I don't know if it is possible to find this out but my guess is the White Sox lead MLB in allowing two out runs. Simply ludicrous. Again tonight Toronto score a bunch with two out. Seems to happen every game.

Since the start of the 2007 season the Sox have been one of the worst teams in baseball.

April 24, 1901 - The White Sox played their first regular season game as part of the officially recognized American League. In fact, it was the first game ever played in the league overall. They beat the Cleveland Blues 8-2. Outfielder William “Dummy” Hoy got the first White Sox at bat. Fred Hartman’s hit scored the first two runs for the Sox in American League history. Hoy was a deaf-mute and in order for him to understand what the umpires were calling; the arbitrators came up with a series of hand signals indicating safe/out/ball/strike. The ceremonial first ball by the way, was supposed to be thrown out by Robert Burke, special counsel to the mayor. He declined however, stating that he was afraid the ball might get hit back to him. (True story!) Hoyt by the way, actually preferred being called “Dummy” instead of his first name. April 24, 1955 - In a game at Kansas City, Sox starter Dick Donovan was hit early and often and when manager Marty Marion came out to take the ball from him, Donovan, showing his competitive spirit and concerned about a possible return trip to the minors, refused to give it to him! Marion had to reassure Dick that he’d stay a part of the rotation before Donovan would turn the ball over and leave the field. That season he’d win 13 of 17 decisions with an ERA of 2.70 before an emergency appendectomy felled him in late July. That injury may have cost the Sox the pennant as Donovan wasn’t the same after the surgery. The Sox finished in third place, five games behind the Yankees at 91-63-1.

In general terms Garfein has been saying more time is needed to really see where this season is going although he has admitted (after the fact) that last year he knew things were going south and the season was over after Baltimore took three of four from the Sox in Chicago. McGuffie (sorry about the spelling) is being more candid and producing stats that show how bad the Sox are and that it doesn't figure to change. neither has (of course) been making any direct attacks about ownership/front office incompetence.

But it is the fan base that's paying the price.

Later in a rare radio appearance he was candid on the subject to host Chet Coppock. “The fact is Larry Himes cannot get along with anybody. You can hardly find anybody in the Sox organization that wasn’t happy when Larry Himes left.”

The next entity to own the Sox more than likely will be a corporation.

Post season record doesn't count towards the regular season. Rangers are the only team that could have made the post season with a losing record. 82-80 in the regular season or the Mets 83-79 in 1973 (if I remember right) isn't a losing record. It's not very good but they still won more than they lost.

As you yourself said it won't make much if any different with the ungodly amount of money rolling in to MLB teams from domestic and international sources. And this organization has blamed fans before going back to Kenny's, "I can't spend a dollar if I only have .50 cents" comment years ago. Hasn't changed a thing. The organization is arrogant, incompetent, dysfunctional and inept and nothing changes until JR is gone. That's reality.

In 1994 at the time of the labor impasse Texas was leading the Western Division and they were 10 games under .500 if I remember right. Had they completed the season it is likely they would have made the playoffs as the first losing team to ever do so. I think they would have drawn the White Sox in the opening round. You could see that happen this year in the A.L. Central Division. The balanced schedule is really bringing out how bad of a division this is. With all their advantages in market size, radio-TV deals, advertising...the fact that the Sox have never dominated the division just shows you how incompetent the organization is.

Then they get Tampa again for four games. You could be looking at 7-22.
