Sox @ Jays: 6:07pm CT
Offense continues to be a real issue for the Sox as it has for the past few years. Tonight marked the 17th time in 37 games they have score three runs or less. That's 46% of their games. It's also the seventh time in the last eight games they've scored three or less. You'd think maybe Ricky would figure out that having two guys both hitting under .200 in the middle of the batting order is a bad idea?

Sox acquire Paulo Orlando (assigned to AAA)
Unlike Jay at least the guy can actually get on the field.

Sox @ Jays: 6:07pm CT
Well these are the White Sox. What did you expect from this bunch especially with Alonzo and Castillo hitting in the middle of the order. Both are putrid, both are more awful Hahn acquisitions.

Covey four runs, five walks, three hits, two home runs in less than five innings. Another "quality" performance from this starting pitching staff. LOL. Coop will fix em" (sarcasm implied)

Abreu trade value?
Never, never put something that seems totally illogical past the White Sox front office. I've seen them far to many times make decision that make you sit back and ask, "what could they possibly be thinking?"

Sox vs Indians 12:10 CST Banuelos vs Carrasco
A desultory, corpse-ball like effort today. On to Toronto.

Sox @ Indians; 5:10pm CT 05/08
He's making nine million, it will take a lot for the organization to admit they screwed up again and drop him down in the lineup or flat out cut him.

Because its Ricky Renteria and Don Cooper making those decisions. need I say anything more?

Ricky Renteria Has Made Me a Lineup Scold
But remember he's part of the White Sox "family" and probably works relatively cheaply...therefore he stays in place.

And that's a White Sox Giolito Gem Winner!
More than that in my opinion...nine losing seasons in the last 12.

JAMES FRICKIN MCCANN
I guessing if he keeps this up he'll be gone by July for a pretty good prospect. It seems to me the Sox are pinning their catching future on Collins and Zuvala.

Harry Caray Book...
Have read almost two / thirds of the book and it is outstanding. The research is meticulous and I found out many things about Harry I never really knew including his time in Oakland. But I writing this to provide some addition information to the Caray / Reinsdorf meeting at the 1990 All-Star Game at Wrigley Field that was brought up in this thread. From the book, page 209: "White Sox president Jerry Reinsdorf had spent the All-Star Game in WGN-TV's Wrigley Field Skybox as a guest of the station. According to press reports Caray walked over to Reinsdorf's table, and said- in reference to the comments Reinsdorf had addressed to Caray and Jimmy Piersall after the White Sox clinched the 1983 Western Division title - "I ought to knock you right on your ass. You called me scum." The report said WGN-TV officials quickly interceded and escorted Caray out of the Skybox." Another interesting side story in the book. In spring training 1984 Greg Luzinski was opening his mail from the winter when he got one from Caray. Harry wrote, "Hi Greg. For a guy who was on stage before the 1983 playoffs (at the White Sox victory rally), you sure were conspicuous by your absence after them! Some of us stand out in the open and take the heat. Others, like you, hide out in the showers or in the players lounge when things get tough." Harry was referring to the fact that Greg had been unavailable to the media after Baltimore beat the Sox (unlike Jerry Dybzinski who answered every question after his base running mistake potentially cost the Sox the game)

James Shields (Not Done?)
According to a story earlier today at MLB.com James Shields threw last week before representatives of Cleveland, Detroit and Texas.

And that's a White Sox Giolito Gem Winner!
Pitching, timely hitting and for once, defense. Baseball the way it should be played. And Giolito was simply outstanding.

The Broadcasting Tandem of Jason Benetti & Steve Stone - Love 'em, like 'em, or leave 'em!
Jason is growing into the job, it doesn't happen over night at least he is miles above the final few years of Hawk who was getting almost "Harry Caray" bad (and this was after Harry's medical issues.) Stone is simply the best analyst in the business. Farmer would be right there as well if only they'd move him out of the play by play role which he is not suited for.

Latest deck shuffling: Jones to 60 day IL; Burr reinstated; Tilson Up
When you keep missing basically half to most of most seasons, the numbers while nice don't have a lot of practicality in my opinion.

Latest deck shuffling: Jones to 60 day IL; Burr reinstated; Tilson Up
Rodon will be in the organization, he's under contract. He simply won't be able to pitch.

Latest deck shuffling: Jones to 60 day IL; Burr reinstated; Tilson Up
I think we've seen the last of Mr. Jones, thank God. Guy started off his career something like 8-0 and I remember thinking this guy could be something special....turns out he wasn't.

And That's a White Sox Winner !!
If Nova could pitch against Cleveland every game he'd be a 20 game winner. Unfortunately that's not the case. Wonder if Indian fans are starting to call him "Cy Nova" derisively like Sox fans used to call guys like Joe Mays and Bruce Chen, mediocre junk balling pitchers who somehow always made the Sox look like a bunch of stiffs.

And That's a White Sox Winner !!
When Jeff Torborg moved Ivan out of right field (he told me he was misplaced out there) he became a damn good left fielder made sensational catch after sensational catch during that 1990 season.

ATTENDANCE THREAD 2019
That's not saying a whole hell of a lot is it though?
-
adam engel or charlie tilson?
The Minnesota Twins (who just a few short seasons ago lost around 100 games) say HELLO!

Fulmer and Ruiz optioned
I'm simply tired of seeing the same stiffs, rejects, has-been's and the like continue to get chance after chance after chance after chance for the past SEVERAL seasons and continue to get the shit beat out of them. I repeat my point, the Sox are three years into the rebuild, where is at least some quality organizational depth? If all they can do is continue to give these stiffs more chances that indicates to me am even bigger issue. But I'm just tired of seeing the same garbage on the mound? Aren't you?
