Well like the Billy Preston song said, "nothing from nothing leaves nothing..." 0-7 with runners in scoring position generally doesn't bode well. Even when the Sox are good they just can't get it done in Baltimore. At least they are home for a few games before heading out on another long road trip. They can really use the day off Monday it looks like.

I suspect that when (or if) Rodon returns...or when (or if) Shields returns, Covey will be released / demoted something that gets him off the big league roster. The guy simply isn't any good. Now that I think about it Bob Dylan is probably a better pitcher then Dylan Covey.

I found this story at the Chicago Baseball Museum very interesting on the impact the reduction in baseball coverage is having on the fans, the business and the game. I don't agree with every one of the author's points, (for example I understand why some of the smaller area newspapers have decided to emphasize high school coverage) but he does seem to accurately present what is happening today and the impact on everyone. Will the last healthy White Sox player please turn off the clubhouse lights before leaving to go on the DL? 7th Sox player (6th pitcher) currently on the DL. It's 2000-2001 all over again. So much for these guys staying healthy so they can be traded for something. Hahn today said it's "minor" and he should be pitching again "in a few weeks." Where have we heard THAT before this year? LOL. Rodon was moved to the 60 day DL because the report said the Sox feel it'll be at least June 1 before he can do a rehab assignment. Mark

Former Sox outfielder Sam Mele died today at 95. He played with the club in 1952 and 1953. Was acquired early in the 52' season for Jim Busby, one of the original "Go-Go Boys" and a fleet center fielder. In two years he had 26 home runs, 141 RBI's, 10 triples and 44 doubles. But this was his main claim to fame with the club: June 10, 1952- In a game at Philadelphia, Sox outfielder Sam Mele set the franchise record with six RBI's in one inning. In the fourth inning of the game Mele hit a three run homer, then later on drove in three more runs with a triple. It was part of a 12 run explosion as the Sox won, 15-4. Mark
