Since ownership isn't going to change and the front office isn't, so long as ownership stays the same and since it's idiotic to keep trying the same failed approach time after time and expect anything different and since ownership isn't going to spend 150 million for the top free agent talent AND to provide good depth...this is the best that could be done under those limitations. But that's just my personal opinion. LOL. Mark

Still very early and time will ultimately tell but who knows, Davidson may be someone who can contribute for the next several years in some role. We'll know more I guess when the Sox either trade Frazier or he leaves via free agency. And this is a weird stat, Sox have a bad, bad offense...yet three times already they've scored 10 or more runs in a game. Mark

Hey they scored some runs! Regarding Davidson not playing again RR said it's because he wants to give some other players an opportunity against the specific pitchers the Sox have been facing the past few games. (In other words bench one of the few decent hitters on the team to tank games!) And you know what, I'm OK with that...stay with the plan. Mark

And now...it begins....the major drop into the Seth Beer sweepstakes. One thing I will say that surprises me is the attendance figures for some of these home games. Obviously a lot of Sox fans understand and approve of the rebuild. Either that or the Sox are really padding the figures. Regarding Putnam...he's the same as Petricka and Tilson...can't stay healthy. Meaning they aren't worth anything even in a trade for a low A ball player. Not that they are trying to get hurt...some guys are just unlucky. Mark

Major League Baseball commissioner Bowie Kuhn decided to invoke the rarely used "best interests of baseball" clause in order to void Finley's sales. Finley, in turn, hired famed sports attorney Neil Papiano and proceeded to file a $10 million restraint-of-trade lawsuit against Kuhn and Major League Baseball. Papiano and Finley lost the case. The court ruled that the commissioner had the authority to determine what is in the best interest of baseball. This team reminds me of some of the Sox teams from the 50's and 60's in this respect. Offense is terrible (19 runs in last seven games, 10 in a single game during that stretch) but because of their pitching they are winning most of the 2-1 and 3-1 games to this point. And you trade Shields and Avi as soon as possible, their value will never be higher if they keep this mirage up. Mark
