  1. Last year, Cease was almost laughably unlucky when he pitched. His defense betrayed him pretty much every start, multiple times. He was getting Quintana'd left and right. The difference between his ERA and RA was massive because of all the errors. In addition, his biggest "problem" heading into this season was not pitching deep enough into games, but can you blame him when he had to throw an extra 20-30 pitches every night due to errors?
  2. Not to mention the majority of his home games were played in a major pitcher's park in Birmingham. Only now is that starting to be offset with his playing in Charlotte
  3. Really don't think Kodi Medeiros is a starter. I wonder when we'll convert him into a LOOGY. 4.2 IP 7 ER tonight
  4. Great play Anderson, good scoop Abreu
  5. I’m one of his biggest supporters on here so if that was sarcasm, I don’t get it
  6. The reverse jinx worked! As soon as he got to two strikes I’m sure a few posters had some bust posts typed out though
  7. Bauer is looking really sharp, that curve is unhittable. But when he strikes Yoan out, it’s because Yoan’s a bust. The rest of the lineup gets a pass, of course
  8. Hansen pulled after 2 innings, 0 runs, 1 strikeout, and only 2 walks!
  9. Swing reminds me of Daniel Palka for some reason. Maybe Collins is Palka with plate discipline. I'd take that from a catcher for sure.
  10. You guys are also living and dying by UZR. He's also 6th in defensive range for shortstops and 11th in overall defensive rating for shortstops, per Fangraphs. Since a lot of that it skewed by his rough start, I think he already is a top 10 defensive shortstop.
  11. I don't know if you can view UZR in smaller samples but I'd guess that since early-mid May, Anderson has been a top 10 defensive shortstop by UZR.
  12. I hate that the diamond logo has been replaced on the gray road jersey sleeves by the standard logo. It was a lot better looking before the change.
  13. The two hours thing hasn't seemed to be true this season. I've been 3 hours before multiple times and there were already people tailgating.
  14. Eloy had an RBI single
  15. If we're so sure that Arenado won't re-sign with Colorado, wouldn't they want to keep Welker to take over at 3B?
  16. I agree with literally everything you said after this, but to this comment alone, I didn't mean that as a bad thing. Even before this year, I still never thought he'd hit .280 in a season. But that obviously doesn't mean he'll be bad, I still think he'll be one of the best hitters in our lineup along with Eloy, Robert, Adolfo, and hopefully a big FA. His game just isn't conducive to being a high batting average guy, but his on base and power potential give him the ability to be fantastic regardless.
  17. The good news is his range stats are top 3 in baseball for second basemen so he has all the tools to improve defensively. And he has, to an extent, recently. If (big if) we turn 3 years of Sale into 6 years of a solid starting 2B (even if not a superstar), 6 years of a MLB starting pitcher in Kopech (ace potential but, barring injury, probably no worse than a #3 with development), and whatever Basabe becomes, that's still a really good deal IMO.
  18. I don't think he'll ever hit .280 in a season. I do think his peak years will be something like .265/.345/.490 though. Good for an .835 OPS.
  19. Thought this was relevant. You have to click for the screenshots
  20. Nicknames are bad/repeated, jerseys are bad, hats are bad... other teams have actually cool looking designs and we're stuck with an ugly combo of gray and red.
  21. Players' weekend jerseys are out. Ours look pretty ugly, in my opinion. Link
  22. He eliminated about 55 games worth of data points to make the stats look that bad. It's cherry-picked and shouldn't be something that shocks you.
  23. The Cubs have a long term catcher. The Yankees have a DH in Sanchez. So it's really just one team.
