Don't know if he was just guessing, but White Sox Dave seemed to think there would be a mid 30s attendance tomorrow. Based on the secondhand market and the official site availability, I'd guess about 28-30 if the weather is good enough.

Other than every Opening Day ever, Moncada's debut is the only game in the last 6 or so years I can say that about. Maybe even TA's debut in 2016.

Cordell has been good lately. He deserves it over LaMarre, IMO

At the very worst, Anderson is either an average or slightly above average starting shortstop, a good bench player, or a trade asset due to his team-friendly contract. He is in no way a burden to our plans. Perhaps he's the Starlin Castro of our rebuild, where he's a fine player but ends up getting traded due to us finding a better shortstop somehow

They were fun to watch at the end of last year too, so I wouldn't be surprised to see it again. Of course, I was duped by their August/September of 2017. Giolito looked decent, Moncada was really good in September, and we were winning. I didn't think we'd make the playoffs this year (though I thought there was an outside shot with a healthy Rodon, Kopech in May, Eloy in June, Hamilton/relievers promoted, etc) but I also thought we'd be a lot closer to the 75 or so win mark by the end of the year than whatever we're on pace for.

I agree. We can also convert one to 1B (probably one of Eloy/Adolfo) if we have to, leaving room for Robert in center, Basabe at a corner, and Gonzalez/Rutherford/somebody at the other

I honestly don't think JR will still be around by the time Kopech is a free agent. And with the way that Hahn has approached the free agency questions lately, I'd be pretty disappointed if we weren't at least in the mix for Machado/Arenado etc. in the coming offseasons.

I've said this before, but between Jimenez, Robert, Adolfo, Gonzalez, Basabe, Rutherford, Walker, and Call, I feel really good about us producing 3 internal MLB outfielders. We should have a lot of money to spend on the infield and the rotation, since the bullpen prospects are similarly stacked.

Not the case if we offer them the most money. Therefore, it is about Jerry saving money.

Even if it were rained out, how would Tuesday's game be affected since they're in different cities? Wouldn't they just reschedule this one again and play the two Chicago games as scheduled?

It's ironic that some on this board detest Jerry Reinsdorf and everything he stands for, yet vehemently support him in service time debates. When it comes down to it, all of this is about money. That extra year of control is one that can be purchased through free agency if you're the top bidder. While I understand the desire to maximize our window by guaranteeing that year, it's also funny to me that people who are so anti-Reinsdorf concurrently want him to essentially be cheap and save his money.

I've never understood that logic either. Apparently wins against bad teams don't count? Wasn't our problem in past "go for it" regular seasons that we would play to the level of competition, i.e. we'd seemingly find ways to beat the good teams and also lose to the bad ones?

Really no reason for him to not have Keon Barnum's DH/1B job at AA, aside from wanting to keep him for the Dash playoffs

To me, Rivera is just another Tim Anderson with less pop, less speed, and less plate discipline (as weird as that sounds)

But you're looking at one stat. Nicky Delmonico has a .322 OBP, does that make him a more valuable player than Tim Anderson? Jose Abreu has a negative 4.5 UZR, can't be too hard to find a replacement for him, right? Focusing on only one stat while ignoring the strengths that a player brings to the table isn't productive. What you'd gain in OBP, you'd lose in defensive value, baserunning value, and power. Unless, of course, this "replacement" shortstop is like, Lindor, or Correa, or someone of that tier

I guess Madrigal, if he ends up actually playing SS? Other than that, there are a lot of those middle infield guys like Nunez, Sosa, and Curbelo, but they seem like high ceiling guys with little chance of reaching those ceilings.

Even on a World Series roster, not every starter is gonna have an OBP above league average. Even if Tim doesn't improve on his OBP (which I still think he will as he matures as a hitter), the "better option" may not bring to the table what Tim does on defense and on the basepaths.

Wow, stolen bases aside, that's a really similar season offensively.

They can argue that all they want, but it would be an awful argument. Kopech has been "ready" to at least pitch in the Majors for months. At this point, he's as "ready" as a pitching prospect can be. I'm not gonna hold those two June starts (which heavily inflate his rate stats) against him, especially when he was dealing with an unexpected death in the family that he admitted has really been tough on him.

My thoughts as well. Really hope they keep Eloy down but I’m cool with this.
