I hate this lineup construction. Palka is a pretty boom or bust guy who doesn't walk, I wouldn't want him any higher than 6th or 7th. Yolmer should be in the lower third. Anderson should be in the upper third. Lots you can/should change.
-
That's true. My argument against moving Yoan has been that his range is best suited at 2B, but Madrigal probably has similar or better range. One scenario where all three pan out (I also believe that Anderson has already "panned out" if he finishes this season well) involves turning one of them- probably Madrigal- into Zobrist and just get him 148 games a year, divided between LF/SS/2B/DH/RF/3B.
-
Was really looking forward to Vieria or Hamilton soon. Oh well, the bullpen is taxed and Soria/Cedeno will be gone soon, so hopefully we don't have to wait too long
-
I think it would be Madrigal at 3B, honestly. It's not common that the already established player moves for the prospect. In this hypothetical, it's 2020 and Moncada has established himself defensively. Don't think it's too far-fetched.
-
Really, really hoping he's day to day. It would be awfully cruel for him to hit the DL now that he's been so good lately, like Moncada in late April
-
Good, fundamental play. I find that we're usually pretty good in rundowns particularly, for whatever reason
-
I agree that Tim has been playing too well to move from SS. But I just believe that Moncada's defensive ceiling at 2B is just as high, if not higher, than Madrigal's
-
You're betting that he's gonna be a gold glove second baseman? Or that he won't move from shortstop?
-
Yeah, but he's probably gonna move to 2B eventually
-
Ever since a rough defensive April, he's been tremendous all-around.
-
I hope he reaches his defensive ceiling but I really don't buy into this gold glove second baseman that everyone's trying to sell. Obviously this error has nothing to do with that opinion. I think Moncada will be a better fielding 2B long term
-
Agreed. I still believe he's just playing there to increase potential value.
-
I think he thinks we're getting Machado.
-
That was a 3 up, 3 down inning if I've ever seen one
-
I don't know if I've ever seen a pitcher squeezed this bad.
-
Interesting. I'm glad as I didn't think his stuff would transfer for us. Maybe he's pulling a Miles Mikolas but he's older so I doubt it.
-
Very good point. I also think our "crisis" is overstated. It has been a very good developmental year for many of our prospects. The only negatives have been Giolito and some injuries. There are some who you could argue for as negatives (Kopech, Moncada, Hansen) but they're all easy to refute (a product of 2-3 bad starts, on a 2+ WAR pace and improving lately, small sample size/injured)

7 IP, 1 ER, 10 K, 1 BB, one (permanent) call-up beginning with a start against STL next week

Here's Ricky's brilliant lineup.
-
What's the difference between Arenado and Machado (3B) fitting in? They would fill the same role
-
Lol, per that tweet, we signed him to a $6.4 trillion bonus...

Irrational fondness of a player who completely sucks

In your defense, Masset ended up being a pretty good reliever until his injury -
The average fan would see Jeter make a diving play on a ball and assume that he's good. In reality, most shortstops would get to said ball routinely, without having to dive. Diehards like you or I can see that Jeter was no good out there, I'm just arguing that the average, casual fan may not be able to identify that. I agree with your last point though.
