2018 White Sox catch-all thread
Shields was having a very good season aside from one bad start (2 IP, 10 R) which inflated his stats. He had a 3.06 ERA outside of that one start.

Some of your blame for Shields could also be placed on Padres GM AJ Preller. He hid some of Shields' medical info from us at the time of the trade. For whatever reason, the MLB investigation concluded without giving us the option to undo the trade.

Astros interested in Abreu?
It's weird because he's actually a pretty good poster for the most part. Just such an odd hatred for Abreu that clearly extends beyond his performance.

Hahn preaches patience...
Yeah, message board posters are much more reliable

I agree with the premise of the article but that was really poorly written at some points.

If Abreu goes to the DL I really don't know who would represent us at the ASG. Anderson is the most logical but SS is stacked in the AL. Garcia doesn't have enough games. Might have to be one of Soria/Fry

Again, that's not how it works. Every first basemen is automatically at a negative number of runs due to the Fangraphs positional adjustment. Abreu is not 15-20 runs below the average first baseman defensively. The real number, as of now, is about 4.

You can put down the 2005 season as a massive failure too. Utterly awful season for us.

Meh, he deserved it last year and didn't make it so now he's square.

That was one of my favorite Yoan ABs this year. Excellent patience and got a nice single out of it

Can't even blame our hitters for these ABs. Morton is just that good

Angel Hernandez is the worst (for both teams, but still)

You really think this is a bad thing? Those trades were wins for us, or washes at worse.

Does Abreu want to be traded?
He was great in April and has been pretty bad ever since. I'm willing to give him the rest of the year but would be annoyed if he's on the 2019 roster, barring improvements. The walks certainly help but it's not enough if he's gonna keep hitting like he has since he came back from the DL.

He needs to be at Birmingham IMO
