2018 White Sox catch-all thread
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 9, 2018 -> 11:17 AM) This is interesting because there has been the urban legend that the White Sox were actually the Arod Runners Up at $160 million. Andrew Marchand?Verified account @AndrewMarchand 14h14 hours ago Andrew Marchand Retweeted Evan Grant Yes, Boras forced him to take $252M when highest next known offer was like $128M from Braves. Really? I don't remember where I heard this, but I had thought that we offered 200.

Moncada, Delmonico, and Leury (I guess he counts) had great games overall. Win or lose, that's what I want to see- the young guys succeeding.

Moncada
QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Apr 9, 2018 -> 04:45 PM) If he finishes the year at .220 AVG with a .720 OPS & 200+ K's yet is top 5 in baseball in exit velocity, I'm going to have a hard time being excited about his 2018 year. But he won't, because nobody is top 5 in exit velocity with a .220 average. Those rockets will start to fall, as we saw today.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 9, 2018 -> 04:40 PM) Call upheld: AKA not enough to overturn or confirm. It was nearly a dead tie. But from the last angle, when they went frame by frame, it appears Omar had the tag on him while his hand was still about an inch from the plate.

Tampa Bay @ Chicago GT
Clearly out from that last angle. Good call

Moncada with a very impressive at bat. That's what I expect to see from him in the coming years. Patience, but not to the point where it's overbearing.

There we go Omar. Nice to see him drive the ball a bit

Great game for Yoan, and that hit was needed for Nicky. At least the young guys are doing well.

Tampa Bay @ Chicago GT
Great pitching to get out of that. I won't blame our hitters, that was a filthy sequence

QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Apr 9, 2018 -> 02:23 PM) Move Davidson down the order, and don't give his AB's to Saladino. Yeah, it's not that hard. Bat Davidson 6th/7th regularly until he proves with enough sample size that he's either actually better or still the same guy. If Saladino plays, he should absolutely see the field and not DH, where his defensive abilities become meaningless.

QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Apr 9, 2018 -> 02:02 PM) Did they do the whole bases-loaded-get-1-run thing again? Yeah, but this time there was 1 out instead of 0. And honestly, I'll take the run given how bad the offense was this weekend
-
Tampa Bay @ Chicago GT
Of course, the one time Yoan actually attempts a steal (and got a great jump), we get HBP

QUOTE (onedude @ Apr 9, 2018 -> 01:49 PM) Yeah, definitely. I'm fine throwing him out there every 5th day until August. Really? I think he's done at some point in May (whenever Kopech is up)

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 9, 2018 -> 01:42 PM) No intention. The Sox said when they changed the time from 7:10 to an afternoon game, any unused tickets can be exchange for any game other than the Cubs series. I see... so tickets that were bought today even (after the change was announced) can still be exchanged?
-
Tampa Bay @ Chicago GT
So did all of you who bought a bunch of tickets last minute with the intention of getting them replaced due to a postponement actually go to the game?

STAR WARS Everything
QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Feb 5, 2018 -> 09:39 PM) I don't know if TLJ took the excitement out of me or what, but I'm not all that pumped about it. I'll watch it because it's Star Wars and Donald Glover, but otherwise I wouldn't mind if it was coming out in December instead of May, I'm just not anticipating it too much. Also, really don't like the choice of actor to play Solo. Other than an easy hairdo, he doesn't look convincing at all as a young Harrison Ford. Me neither.

QUOTE (SCCWS @ Apr 8, 2018 -> 06:50 PM) I would say striking out 37% of his AB last year ( while his team was 23%) and hitting .231 was struggling. I don't count this year since the sample size is so small. But he is struggling so far and striking out at a higher rate early on. Would you say his .750 OPS was struggling? His 104 wRC+?

QUOTE (FT35 @ Apr 8, 2018 -> 05:48 PM) I think he’s struggling from the standpoint of not getting hits to fall—not struggling to belong in the league. He looks and plays like a major leaguer—does not look out of place. That’s a big difference I think. His xwOBA is .449, which indicates that he is clearly hitting the ball well and is getting unlucky. The only legitimate gripe you could make right now is that he strikes out too much, but that's something that I think will improve with time. Plus, his walks help to offset those.

QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Apr 8, 2018 -> 05:20 PM) I just can’t believe that anyone truly thinks that he looks fine and is not struggling. This is absolutely nuts I just can't believe that anyone truly cares about numbers from such a small sample size. I've watched every single one of his at bats and I am not at all worried.
