  1. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Apr 9, 2018 -> 02:02 PM) Did they do the whole bases-loaded-get-1-run thing again? Yeah, but this time there was 1 out instead of 0. And honestly, I'll take the run given how bad the offense was this weekend
  2. Of course, the one time Yoan actually attempts a steal (and got a great jump), we get HBP
  3. QUOTE (onedude @ Apr 9, 2018 -> 01:49 PM) Yeah, definitely. I'm fine throwing him out there every 5th day until August. Really? I think he's done at some point in May (whenever Kopech is up)
  4. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 9, 2018 -> 01:42 PM) No intention. The Sox said when they changed the time from 7:10 to an afternoon game, any unused tickets can be exchange for any game other than the Cubs series. I see... so tickets that were bought today even (after the change was announced) can still be exchanged?
  5. So did all of you who bought a bunch of tickets last minute with the intention of getting them replaced due to a postponement actually go to the game?
  6. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Feb 5, 2018 -> 09:39 PM) I don't know if TLJ took the excitement out of me or what, but I'm not all that pumped about it. I'll watch it because it's Star Wars and Donald Glover, but otherwise I wouldn't mind if it was coming out in December instead of May, I'm just not anticipating it too much. Also, really don't like the choice of actor to play Solo. Other than an easy hairdo, he doesn't look convincing at all as a young Harrison Ford. Me neither.
  7. Also, his K rate was 32%, not 37%. You can't just exclude all the times he was walked, HBP, etc from that equation
  8. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Apr 8, 2018 -> 06:50 PM) I would say striking out 37% of his AB last year ( while his team was 23%) and hitting .231 was struggling. I don't count this year since the sample size is so small. But he is struggling so far and striking out at a higher rate early on. Would you say his .750 OPS was struggling? His 104 wRC+?
  9. QUOTE (FT35 @ Apr 8, 2018 -> 05:48 PM) I think he’s struggling from the standpoint of not getting hits to fall—not struggling to belong in the league. He looks and plays like a major leaguer—does not look out of place. That’s a big difference I think. His xwOBA is .449, which indicates that he is clearly hitting the ball well and is getting unlucky. The only legitimate gripe you could make right now is that he strikes out too much, but that's something that I think will improve with time. Plus, his walks help to offset those.
  10. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Apr 8, 2018 -> 05:20 PM) I just can’t believe that anyone truly thinks that he looks fine and is not struggling. This is absolutely nuts I just can't believe that anyone truly cares about numbers from such a small sample size. I've watched every single one of his at bats and I am not at all worried.
  11. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Apr 8, 2018 -> 04:57 PM) Is he struggling or not? Every day since the season started you’ve said he looks fine. Now you just said he’s been struggling for 10 days. which is it? He has looked fine, and he is not struggling. I was humoring his argument.
  12. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Apr 8, 2018 -> 04:36 PM) Moncada has 286 career PA's. To say "2+ years" is so disengenuous that it's pretty much just a lie. What an awful point. He said that he has been "struggling" for 2+ years, which makes it even worse. 2+ years = about 10 days I guess
  13. QUOTE (Tony @ Apr 8, 2018 -> 03:55 PM) If anything, you should absolutely judge the quality of a team who has played 8 games, three of which were in mid-30 degree weather. Sadly this is a game thread, Tony
  14. Also, Lopez pitched 7 innings and allowed 0 earned runs, but people will tell you that pitching W/L matters
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 8, 2018 -> 03:50 PM) My god Classic Ron jinx. Need him to make a thread on our bullpen woes or something.
  16. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Apr 8, 2018 -> 03:51 PM) Did I say he’s Konerko? He isn’t slow but he isn’t fast. Engel potentially stealing prevents the GIDP I disagree, Avi is fast. He doesn't have that base stealing speed but he's certainly good on the basepaths
  17. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Apr 8, 2018 -> 03:49 PM) Why was Engel not in? What difference would it make? It's not like Avi is Konerko out there
  18. I fully expect us to get RISP in the bottom of the inning but fail to score, and actually lose a 1-0, 0 ER, 2 hit game
  19. QUOTE (Scoots @ Apr 8, 2018 -> 03:27 PM) Well all he's done is hit 3 ground balls, one for a double play, could be 2 but I don't remember. Not like any liners are being hit. Nothing is going over the wall today. Why not give it a shot. And they can be compared as hitters, you can compare anything you want. But I see your point... My point (to the Castillo part) is that I don't think he can bunt.
  20. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Apr 8, 2018 -> 03:21 PM) Benintendi has been a stud since he arrived. Moncada has struggled for 2+ years. I still think Moncada has a higher ceiling. To make it worse for me, even Devers who was behind Moncada arrived last year , has similiar ABS as Moncada and put up better numbers. I would take Moncada over him as well but I do have "White"-colored glasses. Yikes... Benintendi was promising last year but I'd hardly call him a stud. Moncada's "struggles" have been going on for about a week, not 2+ years. He was an above average player in his MLB time last year, I can't find a single metric that says otherwise
  21. QUOTE (Scoots @ Apr 8, 2018 -> 03:18 PM) Yeah, wanted Engel in there running for Delmonico too with the way they are not hitting. Steal second. Bunt him.over to 3rd. Sac fly or sac bunt him in. Tied game. Not like Delmonico is much of an upgrade in the lineup. I don't think Welington can be trusted to bunt. And Delmonico and Engel can't even be compared as hitters, to your last point.
  22. Guessing Lopez's day is done. 7 innings with 0 earned runs, and a likely loss
