  1. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Apr 16, 2018 -> 08:50 PM) Man, Chuck must read these boards if you just track what he talks about all of the time. I'm pretty sure he does.
  2. A close friend of Mitch Trubisky as well. Good article
  3. Kevan Smith to AAA Charlotte on a rehab assignment
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 16, 2018 -> 03:21 PM) Dan Szymborski?Verified account @DSzymborski 31m31 minutes ago There have been 22 games this year with a gametime temperature under 40 degrees. There were only 25 games under 40 degrees the previous four seasons (2014-2017). Nope, dying sport, zero fan interest
  5. This A's pitcher looks worse than 2017 Saladino with that facial hair
  6. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 16, 2018 -> 01:58 PM) I'm a Passan fan, but I agree, that article is overboard. Ignoring the obvious effects of the cold weather this year, I like how he mentions the Cubs and Indians right away. Hey, the 2016 World Series teams, who fell short in 2017, saw a big drop in attendance to start the 2018 season. Baseball has a problem!! Those were the most predictable attendance drops on the board. I like Passan too, generally. But this article is just really poorly done. He implies that tanking is the problem, and then not only discusses the teams that you mentioned, but also the Cardinals and Red Sox, as if those teams are tanking and not playoff threats in currently cold climates.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 16, 2018 -> 12:07 PM) Didn't Colon essentially quit on the White Sox? Yup, went "missing" for a week in the middle of July, I believe. Also a known steroid user but the same fans who hate on Bonds/Rodriguez etc. don't seem to care
  8. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 16, 2018 -> 11:58 AM) 10 Degrees: MLB's enormous attendance drop due to bad weather or something far worse for baseball? https://sports.yahoo.com/10-degrees-mlbs-en...-152051024.html Yay, more fear-mongering! Tanking is ruining the game! I swear, these writers are acting like this is the NBA.
  9. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Apr 15, 2018 -> 11:03 PM) I think you’re overreacting to two good starts. I see where you're coming from but I don't think he is. Clarkin has always been very good, he just hasn't stayed healthy
  10. QUOTE (GenericUserName @ Apr 15, 2018 -> 04:24 PM) Yeah, but you don't put all that work into him putting it together to promote him before he is ready and destroy his confidence when he can't hit again. He is on fire right now, let's let him cool off a bit before we start talking about promoting him. I never said we should promote him right now, I meant at least a couple months
  11. QUOTE (GenericUserName @ Apr 15, 2018 -> 02:39 PM) They are going to try and not have the surgery but that doesn't mean they are going to let him play the field for half the year. Keston Hiura didn't play 2B for a whole year when he had this injury and he still had a scare during spring training. I highly doubt they let him play the outfield this year. Also, injury aside, they had him do two years in rookie ball and two years in low A and now they are going to promote him through advanced A after 2 months? Because he wasn't good at those levels until last year? It's not like it's rare for a 17 year old kid to be stuck in rookie ball/low A for awhile
  12. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Apr 15, 2018 -> 02:15 PM) As far I as I know they have not determined yet that he’ll require surgery. Yeah, I believe the whole point of him DHing is the alternative to surgery, and said surgery would only occur if something goes wrong with the natural healing process
  13. QUOTE (GenericUserName @ Apr 15, 2018 -> 02:12 PM) So next year? I heard June
  14. If Adolfo keeps hitting (not at this unsustainable rate of course), I think we'll see him in AA as soon as he's able to play the field
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 14, 2018 -> 09:39 PM) 3 would be a great outcome I agree. I just don't see any of those first 3 being busts, and I think at least one of Basabe/Blake will pan out.
  16. I am quite confident that 4 of Eloy/Robert/Adolfo/Rutherford/Basabe will be solid MLB players
  17. QUOTE (hi8is @ Apr 13, 2018 -> 10:01 PM) Tell me when it?€™s the first of July. I'm not blaming anyone, as I am guilty of this too, but you really do need 80-100 games before you can start assessing meaning to rate stats. I am very confident that Moncada will be no worse than .240/.330/.400 by then.
  18. QUOTE (FloydBannister1983 @ Apr 13, 2018 -> 12:51 PM) FWIW, expected weighted on-base average (xwOBA) is formulated using exit velocity and launch angle, two metrics measured by Statcast. So if you are talking about xwOBA you are, by definition, talking about exit velocity, albeit indirectly. Right. It's definitely a part of the equation but it presents it in a way that includes all PAs (strikeouts included), which relate to his argument
  19. I believe the problem is that Robin moved him to 2B after Renteria moved him to SS after Ozzie moved him to DH
