No potential upside with that call-up but whatever

QUOTE (Blackout Friday @ Apr 11, 2018 -> 10:53 PM) He’s REALLY struggling in like 3 games but sure

Hot Takes after 10 Full Games
QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Apr 11, 2018 -> 09:52 PM) Moncada finishes second on the team in homers (29) & leads the team in K’s (166) I know you and I have had our Moncada debates over the past couple weeks, but I'm surprised you went with 166. I still am not worried about him but expect him to strike out at least 190 times.

UPDATE: Volstad called up, Infante reassigned to AAA
Is there a service time issue with calling Vieira this early? He has 1 game pitched in MLB with Seattle last year, August 14th

1st Homestand weather
QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 11, 2018 -> 06:23 PM) get used to them. Yup. I find it amusing that people (not on this board, but on Twitter) are acting like this is some anomaly of a spring that won't happen again. This is the rest of our lives.

Rays @ White Sox 4/11/18 1:10 PM
QUOTE (Richie @ Apr 11, 2018 -> 05:39 PM) Outside of some early bumps in each start. Shields has pitched like a Major Leaguer - I'll give him that. Be nice if he could position himself for some decent value around the deadline. I'll bet somebody will still bite on the big name and "big game experience" label if he manages a decent first half. If he pitches like he did in August and September, and I guess today, I think we'll see him moved for a Ti'Quan Forbes kind of player. Or just for cash.

UPDATE: Volstad called up, Infante reassigned to AAA
QUOTE (GermanSoxFan @ Apr 11, 2018 -> 05:30 PM) My guess would be that Kevan Smith gets called up due to Castillo's injury We wouldn't need to send Infante down for that. We'd just place Castillo on the DL and activate Smith from the DL.

Rays @ White Sox 4/11/18 1:10 PM
Nice to see a win for once. Nicky is looking really good at the plate but man he's not an outfielder.

Rays @ White Sox 4/11/18 1:10 PM
Expected a better turnout with this weather. I was wrong

Rays @ White Sox 4/11/18 1:10 PM
QUOTE (GermanSoxFan @ Apr 11, 2018 -> 10:09 AM) So it's one of the Rays' bullpen games? Looks like it. In his other start, they limited him to 54 pitches. If we get deep into counts and stay patient, he could be gone in the 3rd.

Let's avoid a winless homestand

Hot Takes after 10 Full Games
Davidson looks better, due to his approach, but I still think he'll be out of the regular lineup by August. I think Delmonico looks pretty good at the plate, but horrible in the field, and he should be the primary DH next year.

We just look... defeated

White Sox vs Rays 1:10 pm
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 10, 2018 -> 02:34 PM) Davidson had 19 walks in all of 2017. He has 7 in 2018. For a team like this, I really think he's the ideal 6/7 hitter.

White Sox vs Rays 1:10 pm
QUOTE (cjgalloway @ Apr 10, 2018 -> 02:23 PM) Can you show me the stats? I was never ever under the impression that he was a good RH hitter. I could be wrong.. but.. prove it They're minor league stats but here you go https://www.baseball-reference.com/register...l&year=2015 .951 OPS as a righty, .753 as a lefty. Interestingly, that completely flipped the very next season: https://www.baseball-reference.com/register...l&year=2016

White Sox vs Rays 1:10 pm
QUOTE (cjgalloway @ Apr 10, 2018 -> 02:19 PM) My exact point. IDK why he is still switch hitting.. I don't care how young he is. He needs to go complete lefty. I really don't think he'd do any better as a LHH vs LHP. Give him more time as a righty. In the past, he has been better from the right side than the left.

Abreu and the Hall of Fame
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 10, 2018 -> 01:50 PM) In 2014 he put up the highest OPS amongst 1b. 2015: 7th 2016: 10th 2017: 6th So far in his career, on average, he's the 6th best 1st baseman in MLB most years. Those numbers are not good enough. Sadly hall of fame voters don't care about OPS. They care about HR, RBI, and AVG, and as irrelevant as some of those may be, I think they qualify as good enough. Of course, it's moot since he came over at 27.

Abreu and the Hall of Fame
While the numbers are good enough (if they sustain), he simply came over too late.

White Sox vs Rays 1:10 pm
QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 10, 2018 -> 12:28 PM) Other than loyalty I'm really failing to see why Tyler is still around. He's so old that even if he proves he's healthy he's already on the downside of his statistical peak. There's zero upside here. My guess is when Cordell comes up, it's at the expense of Tyler (DFA, maybe). You'd still have Leury, Yolmer, and even Cordell capable of filling his backup IF role.

White Sox vs Rays 1:10 pm
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Apr 10, 2018 -> 11:36 AM) Why the hell is Saladino in the lineup again? On the bright side, at least he's actually in the field and not DHing again. If he's gonna play, you might as well take advantage of his defense.

White Sox vs Rays 1:10 pm
With the pitching matchup, I could see the score being 10-9. Or 1-0.

Lucas Giolito vs. Gavin Floyd
QUOTE (Special K @ Apr 9, 2018 -> 09:30 PM) As a very brief aside, is the ‘05 team the last World Series team to win a championship without a bona fide star? 2015 Royals were pretty star-free, right?
