  1. Jose Abreu

    2018 catch-all

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 20, 2018 -> 11:27 AM) If you want to win brownie points for life, Hamilton really is about the best musical experience you will ever have. If the wife wants to see a broadway show, this is by far your best option. The music envokes the best of 80's/90's hip hop stylings while telling a story in such depth, intelligence and cleverness that is absolutely untouched by anything else I have ever seen done live before. I don't know if there are any other fans out there, but I am just blown away by the power of the show. ^
  2. QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Feb 24, 2018 -> 10:29 AM) Keston Hiura just had this injury and DH'd through it. Why can't Micker do the same? That way he doesn't entirely lose the development time. Props
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Feb 24, 2018 -> 11:21 PM) Differences of opinion make life interesting. Some of us are skeptical about the Sox front office. Differences of opinion, when based on little to no evidence and repeated ad nauseam, make life irritating
  4. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Feb 22, 2018 -> 09:13 AM) Right, this ^ What's the magic in month to month? Why not week to week? Half to half? Moving the endpoints around may make the numbers different, but they all add up to the same thing in the end. All that tells us is that Frazier's performance is more evenly distributed than Moustakas', but the whole performance still happened and still affected wins and losses the same way. The answer is to look at the whole season. and judge accordingly. While I agree with this post, I do find it ironic that you say this, yet have been using 50 plate appearances as a minimum for stats throughout this thread. Those 50 PA are even less significant than month to month, half to half, etc.
  5. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 21, 2018 -> 10:20 AM) If signing Manny Machado means the White Sox will not be able to add other big pieces, they are screwed anyway. It doesn't. Even if you add a $30 million AAV to our 2019 roster, you're still looking at under triple digits in terms of team payroll. We all know that Jerry is willing to go (and has gone) far above that number when we're trying to compete.
  6. I'd rather overpay for Machado's prime years than pay for Donaldson's age 33-37 years
  7. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Feb 20, 2018 -> 05:57 PM) Florida firesale continues. It must feel like such a relief to get traded by a team that plays in an ugly empty stadium. While our stadium is certainly not ugly, I don't get why I've recently seen Sox fans, both here and on Twitter, take jabs at other teams' attendance as if we're some sort of powerhouse in that arena
  8. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Feb 20, 2018 -> 07:36 PM) Bruce drilled him in a blowout game last year that cleared the benches. Thanks, didn't know that
  9. QUOTE (Scoots @ Feb 20, 2018 -> 07:12 PM) Does anyone know how legit this rumor is or is it just pure speculation Legit rumor, if you trust Morosi. The source is the anonymous NL executive
  10. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Feb 20, 2018 -> 06:34 PM) Not sure if this was mentioned but Rondon and Moustakas could make for an interesting club house. Depending on the deal, I would not object to signing Moustakas. No opt-out though. Which Rondon, Jose or Bruce? My guess is Bruce since he was in the same division...do they have an issue or something?

  12. QUOTE (Tony @ Feb 20, 2018 -> 12:20 PM) Morosi floats Moose to the Sox: https://www.mlb.com/news/yankees-white-sox-...kas/c-266762670 He's simply talking about fit, no real connection there. I am against it simply because I don't think Moustakas is a very good baseball player for the money he is going to get, but here we are. I'd hate this. That sounds like more than just fit to me. Also, I think this is thread worthy- I came here to post it but don't want to steal your thunder
  13. QUOTE (wrathofhahn @ Feb 19, 2018 -> 09:25 PM) Ugh this wasn't my intention think I need to take a break from the board every thread I make gets side tracked. That was to Ron, not you. You might know that but I just wanted to make sure. I understand the point you were making in the original post.
  14. QUOTE (oldsox @ Feb 19, 2018 -> 09:23 PM) I don't like the 13 man pitching staff. 12 is plenty. I'd normally agree, but given how bad our starters project to be overall, I think we'll need the extra arms. Especially early in the season, pre-Kopech
  15. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Feb 19, 2018 -> 08:32 PM) If you took the video yourself nice job otherwise a waste of a view with Abreu just looking at 2 pitches. Nah, I didn't, and it probably was a waste, but I at least liked seeing Kopech's motion and movement
  16. I agree completely with OP, although I think Saladino could be a surprise DFA and Smith may get traded for scraps before the season starts
  17. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Feb 18, 2018 -> 04:22 PM) I wouldn't be shocked if he did end up a Yankee. It just means they wouldn't be able to go long-term with Judge post-arbitration years most likely. We say the same about Harper going to the Cubs only with Bryant instead of Judge. Yeah, don't get me wrong, it's very possible that he ends up a Yankee. But all this "it's all but guaranteed, it would be the biggest shock of all time if he's not a Yankee" talk is a joke. Keep in mind that the whole "it's his dream to be a Yankee" narrative began when some porn star who happened to be a Yankees fan tweeted it out, and people ran with it because she had the blue check mark on Twitter.
  18. QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 18, 2018 -> 03:22 PM) I’d avoid getting mad at anyone going through a translator. Yup. I'd love to know what he said, in Spanish, so that I can tell what he really meant. And even if he meant it exactly how it was translated, it's no issue to me.
  19. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 18, 2018 -> 02:48 PM) Nightengale is a big White Sox news guy and he even wrote if Machado isn’t a Yankee it will be the upset of all upsets. While I agree they want him, they better have a really good plan B. https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/c...kees/347912002/ I love that Nightengale said that. Prior to the 2017-2018 offseason, I viewed him as a White Sox mouthpiece, but he has had an absolutely terrible track record since last October. The dude has been wrong on nearly everything. Him saying that Manny is practically already a Yankee means nothing to me
  20. Chuck Garfien‏Verified account @ChuckGarfien Jose Abreu says he wants to steal more bases this season. Seriously.
  21. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Feb 18, 2018 -> 01:27 PM) ? The Kevan Smith response was the answer to a question about doing this a previous season. Did you bother to read the comment he quoted at all? Excuse me for thinking that it could've been a resposne to "Eventually one or more of the NRIs are going to be added as well.", which is also part of the comment he quoted, and actually closer to the end of the quote. edit- and I know Smith isn't an NRI anymore but I figured it could've been a mistake or something
  22. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Feb 18, 2018 -> 01:21 PM) Kevan Smith Why though? We already have Castillo and Narvaez
  23. Chicago White Sox‏Verified account @whitesox The #WhiteSox have outrighted RHP Dylan Covey to Class AAA @KnightsBaseball. The 40-man roster is now at 39.
