  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 31, 2017 -> 10:48 PM) All hit/no field players dont' have much value in today's game. I know. I guess I'm just more sold than most on the potential in his bat. And, you never know, there's a chance he still makes it somewhere in the field.
  2. Daryl Van Schouwen‏Verified account @CST_soxvan Willy Garcia was KOd but "I feel much better now." Wasn't aware of what happened until he saw video of collision with Moncada
  3. Dan Hayes‏Verified account @CSNHayes Yoan Moncada's injury is strictly a muscle issue, no MRI is necessary.#WhiteSox Ok now I'm good.
  4. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 31, 2017 -> 10:23 PM) But so is Yu Darvish Sure, but once people look past his name and realize that he's not having a very good season, maybe my viewpoint would make more sense. 3 months of mediocrity in the form of a once dominant pitcher is obviously not cheap, but Calhoun's potential is as high as can be for a DH type. Sure, his value takes a hit by his lack of real position, but it is extremely rare for somebody to have the potential to not only be a power hitter with a high average, but to also take many walks and rarely strike out. That combination is almost unheard of and can be lethal.
  5. I was feeling relieved about the injury before being reminded that Schwarber had a "knee contusion" last year that ended up being a season ending torn ACL/LCL. re: Willy, I'm probably one of his biggest fans on the board and was initially upset at the thought of him not having these next couple months to prove himself. Hopefully he won't need much time to come back
  6. What a turnaround from a nightmare to a fun game. Gotta love baseball
  7. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jul 31, 2017 -> 06:01 PM) Calhoun does not really have a defensive position and grades poorly in the field and with arm strength. He's likely a dh long term. Right, but a DH with his hitting potential is still valuable IMO.
  8. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jul 31, 2017 -> 03:59 PM) He's an interesting guy, and definitely one the Sox should be taking a look at. Problem is, he kind of sucks. He plays many positions and is slashing .284/.338/.418 with a .756 OPS. I too think that he can be a good utility player.
  9. I understand that this may put LA over the top, but in terms of the trade itself, I just feel as though the baseball world is generally overvaluing 3 months of Darvish and underrating Calhoun as a prospect.
  10. Rangers hit this one out of the park. 2 lottery tickets and a young player with high-HR, high OBP, high walk, low strikeout potential for 3 months of a pitcher having a mediocre at best season? Incredible.
  11. False alarm on the Charlotte stuff, whoever was tweeting about it thought the game was tonight at 6:00 when it's really tomorrow at 6:00
  12. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jul 31, 2017 -> 03:19 PM) I just love the fact that you responded with the name of the player. More specifically, the first name. I had no idea what you were talking about but then I thought about if for a minute...
  13. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 31, 2017 -> 03:14 PM) Wow. Any word for what? Would have loved to added him. I remember we were all praying he was the ptbnl in the Crain deal. Tobias Myers
  14. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jul 31, 2017 -> 03:14 PM) Hahn said soon, which could easily mean in a week or two for Lopez I agree with you, but with less than 3 hours to first pitch, wouldn't they have announced him as starter by now?
  15. I just don't get why there's still no announced starter for Charlotte's game in 3 hours.
  16. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jul 31, 2017 -> 03:04 PM) Give it an hour. It's over. Dan Hayes said we didn't do anything
  17. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 31, 2017 -> 02:45 PM) We will find out in 20 but I guess I imagine Gonzo being had for a bag of baseballs (especially since Hahn is looking for an excuse to call up Lopez) so if he's not moved then no one was a player at all. But if Jaime Garcia can get Littell...
  18. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jul 31, 2017 -> 02:08 PM) Considering the Yankees were very much in on Quintana as well, would you have accepted this return for Q? I would not have. Easy no
  19. QUOTE (GoGoSox2k2 @ Jul 31, 2017 -> 01:54 PM) OMG just over one hour to the deadline and Hahn is going to stand pat at the deadline once again...... lol had to say it But on a serious note I wish we could find the thread from last year on this day when everyone was absolutely bashing Hahn for standing pat and only moving Duke last year.... Oh what a difference 365 a year can make. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=100262 http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=100303
  20. Nori Aoki and Teoscar Hernandez is what TOR got. Yikes, that's pretty good
  21. Bob Nightengale The #Royals in talks with #Bluejays about acquiring another starter, JA Happ/Marco Estrada
  22. If I were a GM of a contending team that needed left handed relief help, I would seriously consider trading for Holland and converting him to a reliever. He'd basically come for free anyway
