  1. If Rodon of the last 41 innings is the real Rodon, then damn, we have the best SP trio in baseball next year- all lefties too.
  2. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Sep 8, 2015 -> 10:26 PM) Rodin hit 97 mph on pitches 106 and 107. Then hit 98 mph on pitch 112 to strikeout Kipnis. Wow That's very impressive.
  3. Dan Hayes ‏@CSNHayes 1m1 minute ago In his last 41 innings, Carlos Rodon has lowered his earned-run average from 5.00 to 3.94.
  4. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Sep 8, 2015 -> 09:52 PM) I rest my case. You rest your case on that? You'd be a s*** lawyer. Look up the definition of "compelling", by the way.
  5. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 8, 2015 -> 08:10 PM) This is worthy of its own thread. Baseball is my favorite sport. Being in a warm climate I don't watch the NFL and I've been a Colts fan since the post Unitas days. I don't care for basketball and I miss the Blackhawks but after another losing disappointing Sox season you feel empty when it's over. 2005 on the other hand the season was longer and it didn't end until after the parade and you wanted 2006 to start right away. I pissed I missed the AZL Sox win and they are in my backyard. Local baseball is extended around here. You see kids playing night games late in October. I should go watch little kids play. Great post. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=96908
  6. QUOTE (Mike F. @ Sep 8, 2015 -> 09:14 PM) This is the most inspirational thing I've read all day. So inspirational, I made a thread about it
  7. Also, Davis hit .196 last year. In 525 PA's.
  8. QUOTE (Vance Law @ Sep 8, 2015 -> 09:06 PM) Good god. 1) I wasn't being all that serious about Davis because I'm confident it won't happen. 2) If he really were hitting .225, he'd still be an excellent addition because he leads baseball with 40 home runs. His OPS is .890 or so. 3) He's hitting .256. He's not hitting .225. Why would you randomly make up a statistic rather than just looking it up? All of the numbers are right there inside the computer you are evidently typing at. The .225, I suppose, came from LH power hitters like LaRoche and Dunn coming here and doing far worse than they have done in the past. I agree that we could use his power, though.
  9. The Sox are out of the race, they won't make the playoffs, etc. Game threads have gone down to QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Sep 8, 2015 -> 08:38 AM) I feel like this point of the year (September, Sox out of the playoff race) is the time we Sox fans take for granted. In mid-December, when the Bears are 3-11, the Hawks are struggling without Kane/Sharp/Saad, and Derrick Rose is out for 6 months with a knee injury, we'll wish we had any White Sox baseball- even an unimportant game like this. My point is, I know we're not in the playoff race, but actually try to watch/follow/enjoy these final few weeks of Sox games, because a few months from now, we'll all be dying for White Sox baseball.
  10. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Sep 8, 2015 -> 08:28 PM) This is a special type of delusion. Our season is dead and the future isn't there. Not at all compelling. Delusion? I was simply stating that I am compelled to watching White Sox baseball. We could go 0-162 and I would watch 90% of the games. The Cubs could go 162-0 the same season and I would watch no more than 10 of their games, about half of those being against us. I don't care what our record is, White Sox baseball will always be more compelling to me than any other team's games.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 8, 2015 -> 08:56 PM) Aww, they didn't give Brantly the silent treatment. It's his 5th career HR
  12. QUOTE (Vance Law @ Sep 8, 2015 -> 08:50 PM) They absolutely would do that deal straight up without even thinking about it. They'd save themselves $30 million. Reyes is the worst defensive shortstop in baseball not named Marcus Semien and he's making $22 million each of the next 2 years. Rockies would dump him on anyone willing to take him because his contract is a nightmare. Then what would they do with LaRoche?
  13. You guys are on board with Chris Davis being our third baseman? His defense there would be flat out terrible... not to mention he'd be hitting around .225. Zobrist is another player who would likely regress if he comes here.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 8, 2015 -> 08:24 PM) Still expecting a contract extension announced at some point. He's already under contract for next season. They agreed to an extension in January IIRC edit- jan of 2014, but he is still under contract for next season
  15. QUOTE (raBBit @ Sep 8, 2015 -> 08:15 PM) LaRoche has a better contract than Reyes Mr. Snarky Boy. It's not all about contract, it's also about performance. Reyes is actually decent, despite his contract. You honestly think the Rockies would trade Reyes for LaRoche? I feel ridiculous to even type it out.
  16. QUOTE (daggins @ Sep 8, 2015 -> 07:45 PM) Ben Paulson? I see a 27 year old bench player with an inflated BABIP. He could be a 43 year old veteran with a BABIP of .100. They still won't trade for LaRoche.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 8, 2015 -> 07:19 PM) How weird, they did a first pitch, and then had a rain delay? I can't say I have ever seen that one before. They do that all the time. The rain delay was announced 15-20 minutes before the first pitches.
  18. QUOTE (daggins @ Sep 8, 2015 -> 06:48 PM) Trade - Adam Laroche to Colorodo Rockies for Jose Reyes and 10 million dollars The Rockies have a solid up-and-coming first baseman. What would they do with Adam LaRoche?
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 8, 2015 -> 04:13 PM) If Sox are spending 100 million dollars on a hitter, I hope they're more of a guaranteed slugger than Heyward is. I think he'll get $150-$175 million.
  20. I was joking about Greinke. He hates us
  21. QUOTE (Mike F. @ Sep 8, 2015 -> 03:38 PM) I hate Dallas Keuchel. because?
  22. QUOTE (Mike F. @ Sep 8, 2015 -> 02:53 PM) Assuming that Sale starts Opening Day (which he will if he isn't hurt), can we try to map out which games he'll start? I just want to see how many times he'll have to face the Twins lol. I think Greinke may get the start for Opening Day. We'll see. And you can't possibly map out 32 starts right now. Things change.
  23. QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Sep 8, 2015 -> 03:49 PM) 4 games against the Phillies, 2 home and 2 away 3 against the Braves. 3 against the Marlins. can't get 10 easier games than that. the NL is so bad...
