  1. Surprised this didn't get any traction here. To me, Boras making Heyman tweet this this signals that this is almost over and Castellanos signs very soon. Either that, or the market is completely dead and he needs a spark
  2. Why not go for one who's sort of meh at both (Cameron Maybin perhaps)? I know Maybin had great hitting stats last year but it doesn't seem sustainable to me. He should easily be better with the bat than Engel, though. And while he's not a great defender, he has good range and is at least better than Mazara/Eloy
  3. The raw numbers don't show it (since it was such a small sample size) but he looked pretty good in MLB last year prior to the TJS. I still think he has a future with us
  4. Tim Anderson (since he was drafted before the rebuild). But my point is that this is all relative. Sale and Anderson alone make the past decade of first round picks a positive for the Sox, from a value standpoint. Most other teams have not gotten such value from their best picks in that same span
  5. So who are the organizations getting 5 to 6 WAR from individual, homegrown star players each year for the last decade?
  6. I think Dunning is a better candidate than Stiever to be the "surprise" guy who comes up and gives us a dozen starts this season
  7. Yeah he's gone. That comment is damning. Really curious to see where he and Bryant are playing come 3/26.
  8. I bet some teams from Korean and Japanese leagues have checked in
  9. Especially because Moncada is a better defensive 3B than Sanchez and Madrigal is probably about the same at 2B
  10. 1. Holt 2. Miller 3. Flores (adding him on my own) 4. Gennett 5. Dozier 6. Yolmer
  11. The PH role would be almost exclusively against LHP though. In 2019 he hit .280/.375/.525 against them and for his career he's at .270/.354/.500. The positional concerns are valid, and the reason why I'd prefer someone like Holt
  12. I prefer those guys too. I just don't think Dozier is that bad of an idea
  13. Crushes LHP and would be the everyday 2B until Madrigal is ready, then move into a bench/PH role. Not sure I buy it either, given that guy's track record, but the fit makes sense to me
  14. I don't care about the managers, I care about the prospect of something similar happening again, and the punishment did not do much to dissuade similar future plots
  15. Yes, it wasn't weak from a standpoint of what they could have done, but it was weak in the sense that a World Series championship far outweighs the penalties
  16. Got it, thanks. I just thought it was assumed we already knew MLB was lying, or at least covering something up, due to the weakness of the original punishment
  17. Even if all these allegations are true, why does it matter? What can be done about it now that the investigation has concluded?
  18. Based on 2019, he's definitely taking Cron's 500 PAs. But before this move, I think Sano and Marwin Gonzalez were going to start at the corners for them, so I guess I'd argue that he's taking PAs from Marwin now?
  19. This. The success of the White Sox rebuild is fully dependent on the development of the core pieces. This is obviously not ideal, but it shouldn't have a significant effect on our outlook.
  20. He's not replacing a 0 win player though
  21. I don’t think we’ll see a real response to this until next offseason
  22. Over the past couple of years, Passan has surpassed Rosenthal IMO. Passan is a great reporter and stays out of trouble, while Rosenthal has been parroting what the league wants people to think (as you noted) and has made some uncomfortable statements regarding players with domestic abuse histories (most notably Addison Russell)
  23. Yes, it has been known publicly for awhile that he would be their pitching coach starting this season
  24. Pretty surprising honestly, but in a good way. He was so so bad and I was tired of arguing with people who thought he had all this untapped potential (he might but his odds of achieving it are very slim IMO)
  25. Couldn't agree more. From Houston's perspective, this was all worth it, and if they knew this would be the punishment before the whole thing started, they probably still would've done it.
