  1. Maybe simply put, breakthrough cases make up about 1% of all new covid cases. Pretty rare .
  2. I think the health of a team going into the playoffs and how they are playing in September may determine success. The Sox have been up and down for about a month. Does Grandal being out affect the pitching? If so then the backup catcher does impact a team. If guys like TA or Abreu are out for postseason, that could have a major impact. Gio or Lynn are really important pieces of our success. Maybe having Kimbrel is now insurance on Hendricks who is also a key component. But maybe we arrive healthy and opponents have injuries going into playoffs and we get an advantage. So much can happen between now and lat September affecting all the contenders that it is too early to speculate.
  3. No problem. It is a game in early August against a lousy team. The ledge would be in the basement.
  4. But that includes playing LF. Otherwise we still have a hole in the outfield. Eloy is still a question playing defensively so Hahn should have added an MLB starting outfielder. We have plenty of 4th outfielders.
  5. Agree except playing safe baseball. In juries are part of the game. Injuries can happen playing safe or not. Some injuries even happen off the field. It is fair to assume every playoff team will suffer an injury preventing a key player from participating. You have to hope it isn't multiple players on a team or the star player going down.
  6. Forget the Guardians. The Indians are w/o their manager and were sellers not buyers at the deadline. We should be focused on the Astros as Boston/ Tampa will get beat up by Yankees, Jays and each other.
  7. It was made by the Chairman. Maybe he flipped a coin or maybe he analyzed it for days.
  8. I am not sure how you came to the political bigot conclusion. Go back and look at the hiring and numerous posters objected because of his DUI record, especially as a repeat offender. I think TLR has done a very good job on the field and in the clubhouse this year as well as the past. But off the field he is a loser and is really lucky he has avoided serious charges.
  9. He only pitched an inning in last 7 days so give him some work.
  10. According to schedule he is listed for Friday vs Cubs.
  11. I know Keuchel is struggling but I don't think Robert will take his rotation spot next Friday.
  12. If Burger has value and is blocked from 3B and Vaughn is not a RF solution, maybe Burger for an OF is another option. Just me but Kimbrel may be better than Hendricks ( contract aside). I was very surprised and happy Boston didn't offer a better package for Kimbrel than the WS did.
  13. Good point. I know there were some medicals for Kimbrel to pass. Wonder if it was the same for Madrigal?
  14. FWIW--Kimbrel has more post season experience and success than Hendricks.
  15. Hahn will fleece the Cubs again. I think he has their number.
  16. Cle and Det have not gotten any better so far. Cle has actually gotten worse for this season unless they make a move tomorrow.
  17. As I posted last week, the AL East front runners will beat up on each other and make the race for best record us vs Astros.
  18. Well in fairness the lineup had Moncada and no one else who would have been penciled in as a starter to begin the season.
  19. Maybe Hahn is trying to add Benintendi to the fold. Could Burger and Benintendi be a match with some other pieces??
  20. Eloy was the hero but credit also goes to Leury for starting the rally when the offense seemed dead.
  21. Sorry, I am not giving up Robert ...................................
