  8. QUOTE (shipps @ Jan 23, 2015 -> 03:08 PM) So is Rodon expected to start off in the pen or as a starter? It looks like Hahn said both. LHP Carlos Rodon has 'a real shot' to start the season in the majors, White Sox GM Rick Hahn said. Read/listen: http://t.co/odpy2ybRWB https://twitter.com/670TheScore/status/558732606154764288
  9. Media session going on now with Hahn. Rick Hahn: "We view ourselves as a contender." #SoxFest2015 https://twitter.com/CSNHayes/status/558725040989282305 Hahn: "Our absolute intent and belief is that we are going to contend this year." https://twitter.com/scottmerkin/status/558725189648015360 Rick Hahn: "We don't do this just to win 80 games. Nothing finalized re: Bullpen/rotation in 2015. https://twitter.com/JJStankevitz/status/558725807942930432 White Sox still may be in market for bullpen depth. Rick Hahn also said good def. infielder who can hit vs. LHP. T. Saladino an option. https://twitter.com/CSNHayes/status/558727712899342339
  10. Mlb network did there top 40 breakout performers of 2014. Abreu got #2 behind kluber. Can't wait to see what abreu does this year.
  11. Probably still pitching will be brought in. Someone had asked dan Hayes on twitter if he thinks sox are done or still going to make more moves. Hayes said probably more bullpen, non roster invites and hopefully viciedo traded. Also scott Merkin has his mail bag up on sox website. Also asked if they were still looking at making moves. scott gave the usually hahn quote that they are always looking ways to make the team better. But said to think pitching. Also said cooper and danks are working on lower arm angle and lower leg kick this offseason. http://m.whitesox.mlb.com/news/article/106...e?tcid=tw_share
  12. QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Jan 15, 2015 -> 07:14 PM) Happy to hear Nate will be back but when is he expected to be ready? If I recall something like mid season.
  13. Ranking the Top 10 rotations in the big leagues, based on input from evaluators. http://t.co/n6Qt5wMobJ News, notes and links. https://twitter.com/Buster_ESPN/status/554637606416551936 ESPN's Buster Olney says the #WhiteSox have the eighth-best rotation in baseball. I think that's pretty conservative: http://t.co/DColE4cdAe https://twitter.com/CST_soxvan/status/554694978488647680
  14. As soon as the cubs signed lester during the winters meetings, Vegas was giving them pretty good odds to win it all. Sox after already having signed duke and laroche then adding samardzija and Robertson only increased their odds a little. I think the cubs are farther away then the sox but the media loves to give them the attention. Here is the article of why the sporting news is picking them. http://mobile.sportingnews.com/article/463...r-maddon-bryant After reading their reasoning there really isn't much support their pick. Pretty much spitting out names. Bruce Levine article pretty much says it's premature to be picking the cubs at this point. http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2015/01/09/lev...-are-premature/
  15. Haven't seen it yet and will have to find a copy. Sporting news 2015 baseball yearbook is out and has their predictions for the year. Stuff from Scot gregor. Just got copy of Sporting News 2015 Baseball Yearbook...they pick #WhiteSox over Angels in w-card game. Tigers over Sox in ALDS https://twitter.com/scotgregor/status/553233515911733248 Sporting News 2015 Yearbook also picks Cubs to WIN World Series, over Tigers https://twitter.com/scotgregor/status/553233836545695744 More Sporting News 2015 Yearbook picks: Sale wins Cy Young, Soler wins ROY, Maddon wins Manager of Year. #WhiteSox #Cubs https://twitter.com/scotgregor/status/553236147309395968
  16. Viciedo shouldn't be and probably won't be on the bench or team. Carrying him on the bench would be a worse version of konerko last year. Ideal bench is to have versatility. Back up catcher ( Brantley, kottaras, nieto), 4th outfielder ( danks, shuck, compana), utility infielder (garcia, sanchez, saladino,) and super utility player ( bonifacio). Compana would be pretty interesting if he some how took the 4th outfield spot with his speed along with eaton, johnson and bonifacio would be crazy. Probably could still use a back up infielder and let Garcia and sanchez get consistent playing time in the minors
  17. the @chisox bonifacio deal also includes a club option for 2016 https://twitter.com/JonHeymanCBS/status/552110895779028993
  18. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 30, 2014 -> 04:29 PM) Breaking Ben Zobrist down as a mere super utility player is oversimplifying him beyond recognition. It'd be like saying that Chris Sale has only been a swing guy because he's got about the same amount of relief appearances and starts over the last 5 years. That's absurd, no? The guy has absolutely been one of the most valuable players in the game over the last 5 years, moreso than RA Dickey. Over the last 5 years, he's accumulated 26.9 fWAR, good for 10th in the MLB. The only pitchers rated higher are Kershaw, Verlander, and Felix. WAR is not the end all, be all, but that paints a hell of a picture and if you think that Ben Zobrist is not going to cost a lot to acquire based on the idea that he is a "super utility player," you are going to be sorely mistaken. He absolutely is worth a top return and he will fetch a top return. So you are again comparing a super utility player to a potential cy cyoung winner, three more cy cyoung winners with one of them also being a mvp. Any other cy cyoung pitchers you want to compare a super utility player to. Your are bringing up him having a high war but wouldn't him being a super utility player have a affect on that. He played 5 positions last year so that has to take in account for is war. where is his break down per position.
  19. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 30, 2014 -> 02:38 PM) He's far too valuable a player. RA Dickey fetched Noah Syndergaard and Travis d'Arnaud (as well as Wuilmer Becerra) 2 years ago going into his age 38 season. I think that's a little excessive in hindsight, but it's going to take some very good prospects to get Zobrist. You are comparing a super utility player to a cy young award winner. Dickey had a career year in 2012 and won the cy young. That's why he was traded for top prospects. Zobrist isn't worth that type of return. Yes he is valuable but he is a super utility player that will be 34 in may next year and and is in his last year before free agency. I highly doubt teams are giving up top talent for a super utility player.
  20. Ben Zobrist would be a nice fit for White Sox, who currently see 2B as competition between Micah Johnson, Carlos Sanchez & Leury Garcia. https://twitter.com/philgrogers/status/549972921670963200 Key for White Sox w/Zobrist lies in Rays' interest in Dayan Viciedo and CWS willingness to deal significant prospects. Serious talk likely. https://twitter.com/philgrogers/status/549975570692702208

  22. Seattle was lukewarm on Viciedo before Ruggiano, expected DFA. But Hahn was confident situation will be resolved. Guess: other teams on DV. https://twitter.com/CSNHayes/status/545300251700379648
  23. QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Dec 17, 2014 -> 07:55 AM) Looks like this mysterious hitter could be Ian Desmond The Mariners were linked to him and Jordan Zimmerman but Desmond has 1 yr left at 11 million. Mariners were balking at the price to acquire them
  24. Expect Dayan Viciedo to be traded. Hahn to @CSNChicago: "In all probability it will be another club that sees him in a greater role." https://twitter.com/ChuckGarfien/status/545026112498040833 Hahn continued: "and usually those things have a way of working themselves out." https://twitter.com/ChuckGarfien/status/545026197357228034 Rick Hahn is still a busy guy. Just before our interview today he got a call about a player. https://twitter.com/ChuckGarfien/status/545026494779518976
  25. White Sox have meetings in next few days hoping to add backups for infield and outfield. (Money an issue.now ) https://twitter.com/MLBBruceLevine/status/544993636023562241
