QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 09:04 AM) Im saying that he can say what he wants, but there could be repercussions. Nobody is restricting his right to free speech though I agree and what you're saying is pretty much what I'm getting at. Just to clarify... Eaton has a right to speak freely on his Twitter account but he should know better than to speak publically on a team issue that has yet to be resolved. The issue is between LaRoche, KW and those players that potentially complained about it to KW. It would be smarter of Eaton to wait until LaRiche's decision is final and all the facts are out. That all I'm saying.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 08:53 AM) Nobody has restricted Eatons right to say anything on Twitter, that doesn't mean a team rep shouldn't tell Eaton that he needs to be a little bit more edited in what he says on Twitter so they don't have to keep putting out these small fires that keep getting set all over the place Citing "free speech!" is wrong Citing free speech is wrong with reference to someone speaking their mind on social media? Really? Yeah, OK...

QUOTE (LDF @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 08:45 AM) part of this i agree. what i have a heartburn is, it was a dynamics of the clubhouse and should have stayed there. I agree, it should have stayed in the clubhouse. That's why I worded my last few posts the way I did. I respect Eaton's right to speak his mind on his Twitter account but this issue is really nothing to do with him so in this case, he should STFU. The issue is between LaRoche, KW and the players that may have complained.

QUOTE (3GamesToLove @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 08:19 AM) This qualifier is completely unnecessary, as this has nothing to do with free speech. Eaton speaking out on his personal Twitter account is about free speech which is why I brought it up. The point is that I respect the fact that Eaton has the right to say what he likes on his Twitter account ( free speech ) but the LaRoche issue is one that should have remained in the clubhouse until LaRoche made his final decision and all the facts were out, which not all the facts are out yet.

QUOTE (LDF @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 08:11 AM) i totally agree with your post. KW was acting the professional adult, / boss of the org on how he handle the situation. the one who is leaking this crap to the media is a chickenshiite S.O.B...... pure bush league stuff. what is bothering me is this little snippet from the article from yahoo. who is he to tell the boss to get out of the clubhouse. i lost all respect for sale. Agreed, it is chickens***. I understand that LaRoche has friends throughout Baseball and probably received plenty of phone calls and texts asking why he retired but he should have kept quiet on the matter at least until his "few days" was up and made his final decision. Same for Eaton and his big f***ing social media mouth. I had no problem with Eaton's Oscars outburst but this is a team issue that should have been kept in the locker room until the team resolved the issue. As for Sale. His s*** has been getting old with me since binocular-gate in Detroit. I respect his passion and desire to win but he needs to grow up and learn to control his emotions. If it's true that Hahn and RV were fine with Drake being around so much, the complaints must have been directly to KW which would explain why he came seemingly out of nowhere with asking LaRoche to " dial it back" , which LaRoche supposedly ignored when KW first talked to him about it over a week ago. I think it's great that the Sox allow kids to around the field and the clubhouse but not all the time. For some players, the locker room is a sanctuary away from their families. A place they should be able to speak freely about whatever they want and not have to watch their language or the content of what they talk about because one player has their son around 100% of the time. LaRoche is/was but one player on a 25 player roster.

How The White Sox Win The Pennant-Fangraphs
BlackSox13 replied to Y2Jimmy0's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Unless Cashner gets off to a good start, I done see a point in trading for him. He's a FA after '16 and his numbers last year were rather pedestrian for a guy that pitched in the NLW spacious ballparks. -
QUOTE (ChicagoHeel @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 07:41 AM) I lost a lot of respect for Adam Eaton. Going to the media and sharing sensitive details about what went down behind closed doors is bogus. Agreed. I'm all for free speech but this is an issue that should have remained in the clubhouse at least until it was sorted out. Eaton really comes across as the leader of a social media pity party. If LaRoche can stay quiet on the matter, why couldn't Eaton?

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 10:02 PM) My inside info has been severely limited as far as front office stuff but I still know several players. I've sent out many PMs on this topic. The leadership baton has been taken and run with by several of the new players. The old guard may not be that happy about it but that's reality. This team needed stronger personalities and they got them, and those guys wanted a more "boys club" atmosphere. Personally I waited until this story came out before reached out because I didn't believe it at first. But let's say more than a handful of players don't care that LaRoche is gone. We have a new regime and I believe they (Mgmt) likes it that way. The " boys club " atmosphere makes alot of sense. I kinda wonder if LaRoche was viewed by some as the Eddie Harris type of the locker room. Could have rubbed some the wrong way with how devout he is and all.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 05:50 AM) http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-big-leag...-191033091.html Sale screaming at KW story is everywhere now... Players complaining directly to KW makes sense and imo, is one of the missing pieces in the puzzle. If true, I think KW deserves some credit for not coming out and saying which players or how many, which would distinctively divide the clubhouse to some degree. Much better if KW looks like the bad guy than the players that complained. I doubt that the players that complained thought things would escalate to this extent.
-
This s*** just gets more confusing as more leaks out. KW is arrogant but to come out and change the policy for no reason makes no sense. I can't help but think there had to be some comments made by players directly to KW for something like this to go down. OTOH, supposedly Hahn and RV were fine with Drake being around all the time. So either there were comments made directly to KW or I'm underestimating KW's arrogance. f*** it, how about the Sox part ways with LaRoche and KW...

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 03:32 PM) That is the story I read. The Jays wanted to talk to him, and Jerry wouldn't let him. Kenny had a meltdown and threatened to quit. " Screw you guys, I'm going home!"

QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 09:24 AM) Rumor is that they are going to win to spite Kenny Williams, as they have a poster of him and will rip off part of his clothing after each win. Ha ha, good one! " win the whole f***ing' thing!"

QUOTE (LDF @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 09:18 AM) you make a point and a good one. for this thread, does the org have the right to chg the rules or policy of their club, outiside the idea of it is not against the union / cba rules and policy???? Imo, yes they have that right. The players aren't the ones that write the paychecks, the FO does. The players are employees, plain and simple. This isn't as cut and dry as it appears on the surface. There's a stark contrast between asking a player to dial back the amount of time their son spends with the team and the player retiring because of it. The whole story has yet to be told.
-
There's a few pieces of the puzzle missing between Kenny's request to " dial it back " and LaRoche retiring over the matter. I think there were players that may have been uncomfortable with constantly watching their language and the content of their discussions as well as a few players may have wanted their kids around more often since LaRoche was able to do so with Drake which would put the FO in a most unenviable position. Of course I'm speculating but there's more to this than what's being reported.
-
Yesterday, this story was pretty cut and dry for me but not so much this morning after sleeping on it. There has to be more to the story than what is being reported. Maybe some players were annoyed with the constant presence of Drake , maybe some players wanted to bring their kids with them to work more often or maybe a combination of both. Those two things would help explain the sudden change in policy. Hopefully more credible info comes out to shed some light on this story.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 16, 2016 -> 07:40 PM) Not half as chicken s*** as judging people anonymously on the internet. This post is very much worthy of a Ric Flair.... WOOOOOO!

The Sox FO did the right thing and it sounds as though they did their best to handle the situation with respect to LaRoche and his son. We're talking about a locker room full of athelete's and not all are married with kids. Guys like to talk about guy stuff and what better place than a teams locker room? I would get annoyed as all hell if I had to constantly watch my language and the content ( alcohol/women/etc.) of discussions with my fellow players. Guys will be guys, especially the guys that are still young and not married. I respect LaRoche for being a great father but he has to understand that time away from family goes with the territory of being a major league ball player.

Finally got off my ass and watched a few movies lately. The Hateful Eight- pretty much what I expected from Tarantino. A twisting turning plot and a whole bunch of cussing. Good movie, though not his best by any means. The Last Witch Hunter- better than I expected and was pleasantly surprised. I thought Vin did well in the role. Maybe I had low expectations? Howl- typical British Warewolf movie, and that's a good thing. Has a few familiar faces and a fair amount of blood and gore, though more would have been nice. Pretty good movie and the only thing I didn't like was the ending, could have been better but oh well.
