  1. That story is a heart-breaker. I really feel for Tommy's wife, friends and relatives. RIP Tommy. Thanks for posting this story.
  2. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Mar 22, 2016 -> 09:25 AM) I haven't seen Jacob May or Tim Anderson mentioned in these reports for the last 2 weeks. I don't think either one has been sent down yet so hearing about how they have been doing would be appreciated. My own take is both has looked very good.May is an outstanding fielder and has stole a few bases while holding his own at the dish. Anderson has looked better than expected at SS and has shown a quick bat and some pop. Both have outstanding speed. FWIW. I'm expecting to see May and Anderson to start the '17 season. I think that people are holding back to see what those two can do at Charlotte this year. One thing I'm curious about is the arm of May. Is it strong enough for CF? I've seen mixed reviews on his arm. I've kind of looked at May as a future LF due to his below average arm strength but his defense is well suited for CF.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 22, 2016 -> 09:00 AM) Situations like we saw from Erik Johnson are exactly why guys like Jacob Turner and Mat Latos were brought in here. Hahn learned his lesson about depending on Johnson after the first flop. They just don't trust the kid. Exactly. I think Hahn deserves some credit for learning that lesson and seeing as how Johnson performed so far, that would have been a bad assumption. Maybe it's just me reading too much into Cooper's comments but he didn't strike me as be overly confident in Johnson. I think Johnson's drop has Hahn and Cooper thinking, " here we go again". Also, I give a huge round of applause to Hahn for all the changes he made on what seems to be a limited budget to work with. I seriously did not expect him to pull off the amount of roster changes that he has.
  4. Should be interesting to see how Davidson responds to facing better pitching as teams continue roster cuts and MLB pitchers continue their fine tuning before opening day. Hopefully Davidson continues to get some atbats to help determine if he can contribute at the major league level. For me, Johnson is bitter/sweet. Bitter because he seems to have reverted ( for now) back to 2014, sweet because the FO was smart in not assuming Johnson would be fine and came up with some SP depth. Really curious about Turner. He makes sense as the pen's long man but it seems the Sox see something in him as a potential starter so Charlotte would make sense. But will they pay him 1.5M to play AAA ball? Guessing Turner becomes the long arm of the pen. Some food for thoight about the 1B/DH opening. The Sox have a few internal options that could work in their favor. 1) Abreu DH/ Frazier 1B/ Lawrie 3B/ Sanchez 2B. 2) Abreu DH/ Frazier 3B/ Lawrie 2B/ Davidson 1B. 3) Abreu DH/ Frazier 1B/ Lawrie 2B/ Davidson 3B. In the end, I think we end up seeing Abreu at 1B with the outfielders rotating through the DH spot.
  5. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Mar 22, 2016 -> 07:56 AM) From that article, this paragraph right here: "But while Sale and others rip Williams for lying, why has nobody in a Sox uniform questioned LaRoche for quitting? Instead, Sox players built a shrine to a player who walked out on them because he couldn't bring his son to work whenever he wanted — rules the rest of working America lives by. For $13 million, that hardly seemed like too much for LaRoche's employer to ask." Couldn't agree more. Sale and Eaton went from my favorite current Sox players to absolute embarrassments as far as I'm concerned. This team apparently went from Paul Konerko being a leader (and winning a World Series), to Drake LaDouche being a leader ... and being one of the worst teams ever. Good job. At least now we know the name of Sale/Eaton's puppy that KW kicked. I wonder if Sale/Eaton will hold a memorial service for their fallen leader. WWDD?
  6. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Mar 21, 2016 -> 08:42 PM) My guess is that they will bring in retired pitcher Jeff Juden. He is from Salem, MA, so he is a natural for the job. I'm thinking Vin Diesel. He is the last witch hunter afterall. I suppose Shaggy and Scooby could help too. Maybe it's time for Sale and Eaton to fire up the mystery machine.
  7. Word out of the Sox clubhouse is that Sale and Eaton have brought in Blue's Clues to find the dirty scoundrels responsible for LaRoche's early departure.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 21, 2016 -> 02:26 PM) Oh yay, a player told Will Carroll there's a "witch hunt" to see who complained https://www.fanduel.com/insider/2016/03/21/...-sox-clubhouse/ Most of knew this was going to happen, though we hoped it wouldn't. What the witch hunters don't understand is that nothing good would come from exposing the players/coaches that complained. If the complainers are exposed it will just make things even worse for the clubhouse overall. Sale, Eaton and co need to let this go and focus on winning ball games.
  9. QUOTE (Real @ Mar 21, 2016 -> 11:12 AM) Is Sale projected or Quintana? too early to tell? edit: Home opener. The home opener will be the 5th game of the season so it should be Danks or Latos.
  10. Yep, still Navarro for me. I still remember when Karim Garcia went yard off Navarro and cleared the roof in old Tiger Stadium. I forget who said it, I think it's was a sports writer, but they said something along the lines of how the Sox needed to bring a U-haul on road trips to carry Navarro's ERA. I'm going to see if I can find that. Edit: found it. Steve Rosenbloom.... http://articles.chicagotribune.com/1998-07...ent-fiesta-bowl
  11. QUOTE (Señor Ding-Dong @ Mar 20, 2016 -> 08:20 PM) Second post in this thread says he has a low-mid 90s FB as well as a CB, SL and CH, but I assume you mean more in depth detail on his repertoire. Yeah, I should have been more specific. My bad. I was looking for scouting grades on his pitches. Couldn't find anything recent. I did notice he was demoted back to A ball last season. Maybe the Sox turn him into a reliever.
  12. QUOTE (Tony @ Mar 20, 2016 -> 07:58 PM) Pretty awesome Tweet by Tim Marchman https://twitter.com/timmarchman/status/711717631691198464 That's hysterical!
  13. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Mar 20, 2016 -> 06:15 PM) Well he wa signed out of college in 2013, so I assume so. Plus I doubt they put him on the 40 man. Good points. I'm going to look around and see if I can find anything on his repertoire.
  14. I can buy the idea of nobody lying. To me, it sounds as though KW kept the names of the complainers un-named in an effort to keep players from going after each other. In the end, LaRoche didn't get his way and pulled an Eric Cartman, " screw you guys, I'm going home". Good riddance Adam LaCartman. Don't let the door hit you where your good Lord split you. Hopefully Sale and Eaton do not go on a witch hunt to find out who the complainers were. Let it die children.
  15. There are many responsible for the mess going on right now but I think another factor worth considering that has yet to be mentioned is hi8is and his relentless pursuit of a good poop. Makes sense hi8is would be responsible for this perfect s***-storm, would it not?
  16. QUOTE (iamshack @ Mar 19, 2016 -> 09:09 PM) Guys, what does "obfuscating" mean? Obfuscating: the definition of the 2016 Chicago White Sox front office and player personnel where everyone is telling the truth whilst simultaneously lying through their teeth. Therefore, creating the perfect environment for building a team to be a solid 2016 World Series contender that is centered around the commemoration of their leader and fallen comrade, a 14 year old boy. Hence the term, obfuscating.
  17. Much respect for Dunnington enduring what he did and its pathetic people still won't accept others as they are. I really hope he fulfills his dream of joining a FO.
  18. QUOTE (Sockin @ Mar 19, 2016 -> 05:40 PM) This sums up my feelings quite well. Open letter to White Sox players Well done Larry!!!!
  19. This is a great article. Well done Haugh! http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/colum...319-column.html
  20. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Mar 19, 2016 -> 01:13 PM) Adam Eaton said that Drake LaRoche was a leader. It's absolutely absurd. Agreed. Eaton is going overboard with the LaRoche drama and needs to STFU already. His whiny temper tantrum last season was irritating enough but this far and beyond that. If he keeps it up, I hope the Sox fine his ass for continuing to speak publically on a clubhouse issue after the chairman ( his boss ) asked everyone to keep quiet.
  21. I have a difficult believing KW just decided out of the clear blue to scale back Drake's presence in the club house and on the field without something being said to him first. Eaton is one to talk about KW " throwing it out there". He's been throwing plenty of stuff "out there" on Twitter. He's parading Twitter like a politician trolling for votes. Good to see Eaton and his big mouth are so focused on the upcoming season.
  22. Will the cameramen play a game of where's Waldo by trying to locate where KW is during the game? Will KW watch the game from far far away with a long range telescope or will KW roll up in his golf cart and taking a chance on getting beaned by Sale with a pitch that " got away form him"? KW... ridin' dirty in his golf cart!
  23. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 19, 2016 -> 10:31 AM) I just don't know how people can buy whatever KW is selling. He had is first story he gave the press. Sale, whether you think he is crazy or not, said KW gave them 3 stories, and the Nightengale story was yet another different version. So there is 5 nor even counting whether buckets story is anything, but that would make it bucket #6 officially Bozo's Circus. Assuming KW is Bozo. Who plays the role of the Hulk Hogan look alike, Cooky?
  24. Go Sox. Let's play some Baseball.
