5/9 - White Sox @ Rangers Game Thread
TheTruth05 replied to ChiSoxFanMike's topic in 2016 Season in Review
Let's start this series off right and punch these guys in the mouth first! -
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ May 7, 2016 -> 07:39 AM) Kang came back yesterday and hit 2 homers for the Pirates. On days he plays short for them, I really really like the Pirates lineup 1-8. Maybe they can add a power bat somewhere or trade for another arm in June/July. I hope they're not competing with us for the same bat you speak of because they can offer a much better package for a rebuilding team than the Sox can.

CINCO DE MAYO GAME THREAD: BOS @ SOX
TheTruth05 replied to cabiness42's topic in 2016 Season in Review
This game was pretty rough to watch, especially at the park. After that terrible out call on Lawrie it really ruined the game for our Sox. That's unfortunate too because the crowd was really into it and was standing up for the action but after that blown call the life was sucked out of that place. The rest is history but Sox faced some pitching that was not very good and they really came up empty. -

I shall be there, watching EJ throw a nice ballgame leading the Sox to a win. -
QUOTE (chw42 @ May 4, 2016 -> 01:38 PM) Cubs up 4-0 again. Looks like the theory that they can only beat crappy teams doesn't apply. Althought I agree they're good and can't only beat crappy teams, Pitt has played pretty damn bad this series.

5-0 now, keep pouring it on Nats.

Article about Sale pitching to contact this year

Good article, the top comment sums it up perfectly. -
So when does the Hayes Hype Train reach Chicago? Dude is on a tear.

QUOTE (GreenSox @ May 4, 2016 -> 08:30 AM) Tehran is a mid rotation guy who would help more to get to the playoffs than in the playoffs. That may be his price but it's too much. Such trades of course rarely help and usually cause harm. But that doesn't stop the exuberance for them. Heck no one is even talking about Frazier, the super super slugger, and his Dunn-like output. You're right. Trade Frazier for 5 mediocre prospects and bring up Davidson. Can't be any worse than his Dunn like output, amirite?

Let's feast on this pitching. Rodon keeps getting into his season groove and Sox extend another streak. Let's get 20 boys -
Sox attended Lincecum showcase day - Angels expected to sign him
TheTruth05 replied to Buehrle>Wood's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 4, 2016 -> 07:09 AM) If the cost were the same as Jacob Turner, it would probably be mostly paid back in terms of increased ticket sales...but I'm not sure if Lincecum's willing to go THAT low in terms of his desperation level to return to MLB. Then again, John Lackey pitched for a pittance last year and didn't complain TOO much about it. All things considered, Lincecum's got to be in a more forgiving park like KC, Detroit, Minnesota, Seattle, NL West, etc., where he has increased margin for error. Lincecum would increase ticket sales exactly how? Guy has barely pitched the last couple years and casual fans barely remember him. The Giants make sense for him, big park and with Peavy/Cain both getting lit up they might as well give him a chance. -

Some decent pitchers from the NL would be worse in the AL. Lincecum hasn't been good in the NL even when he was the healthiest he's been in years. Guy is toast and we have way better internal options at this point. -

QUOTE (Jerksticks @ May 3, 2016 -> 05:04 PM) Haven't paid attention to the Red Sox this season but that lineup doesn't seem too powerful. Not that scared They have a good lineup but they just beat up on a struggling Yanks staff, nothing to brag about.i think Sox shut em down -
Always respect Danks for putting the work in to come back.he could have half assed everything after his extension but he gave us everything he had. Thanks for 08 Johnny!
-
QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ May 3, 2016 -> 02:29 PM) And he'd immediately become arguably the Sox' best hitter. I'd take him at the right price. I think the effect he'd have in the clubhouse hasn't really been talked about. This team looks like a pretty tight unit. If things keep going good and the Sox are in the position to trade for Braun you can't help but consider how your current players feel about him. I know "winning builds chemistry" but it does seem like Braun lost almost all respect from his peers when he got busted, wouldn't doubt even Todd or Eaton to say something about not wanting him on the team.
-
QUOTE (shysocks @ May 3, 2016 -> 10:12 AM) San Diego would love to get rid of him, but man, his stuff is diminishing rapidly. In two years we'd be talking about him like we talk about John Danks now. Shields would work short term but I just can't help but think Sox will only use internal options to ride the 5th spot out. I hope the yankees keep sucking and sell at the deadline. Texeira would be a nice pick up, FA after this year, owed alot of money but Sox can split it with the Yanks and give up a C prospect.
-
QUOTE (shysocks @ May 3, 2016 -> 09:05 AM) Yep, there aren't gonna be a lot of peaceful weeks on the schedule. Too bad we aren't in the cupcake league. Exactly, I'm pretty sure at this point in the season, opposing teams forums look at the Sox on their schedule and consider that a very difficult series. It's a good feeling

The development of Tim Anderson, hitter
TheTruth05 replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in Pale Hose Talk
If Anderson is a slow starter at every level he has been at, I'm assuming if he does well this year in Charlotte he's basically penciled in to start at SS in 2017?
