  1. Probably so. Would take an El Duque-esque moment
  2. QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 27, 2015 -> 11:08 PM) Go look at his rookie card in 97 and pictures of him with the Indians. Even during his first stint with the Sox, he was in much better shape than he is now. Just seems like he's been a big guy since I can remember lol
  3. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Oct 27, 2015 -> 09:49 PM) Niese is someone I think the White Sox should look at this off-season. Could be depending on what we trade. We need another SP.
  4. So a guy with a Marlins jacket and a guy with a Dodgers hat....lol
  5. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Oct 27, 2015 -> 09:11 PM) What the hell is Marlins guy doing with his hands behind the plate? I was looking at hm like WTF? Lol
  6. How could anyone not like this move? Low risk high reward.
  7. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Oct 26, 2015 -> 09:42 PM) These guys probably want 3 or 4 year deals to move their families, etc. Sox will get whoever's left when the music stops playing. That could be true.
  8. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 26, 2015 -> 05:28 PM) Merkin said he was no longer a candidate last week. We don't know if he turned down the job or the White Sox like someone else better. Or it could be the contract situation. Can they really give him a multiple year contract and say for certain he is the permanent replacement if they make a change? Would they? Renteria seems like the best choice left to me of the candidate named. I'm intrigued by Ibanez. I think it's him. Seems like we're waiting on him. Or at the very least talk to him.
  9. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 26, 2015 -> 08:32 AM) I think bringing Paulie back and having him play CF would give you better results. One guy who probably would never make a career OF a 3B is KW. The White Sox did exactly that with him, and he was a pretty decent OF IIRC. He was horrid at 3B and suddenly also couldn't hit. I'd have him at C. He was originally a catcher after all.
  10. QUOTE (Knackattack @ Oct 25, 2015 -> 11:07 PM) He is bad but we don't have anything better unless Micah learns how to field and stay healthy. Can't force a guy to stay healthy. If he's made of glass, he'll shatter. I'm not counting on him at all, I see him as a trade piece.
  11. QUOTE (whtsoxfan @ Oct 25, 2015 -> 01:20 PM) Any of these make sense? http://chicagostylesports.com/2015/10/25/c...series-in-2016/ Haha no.
  12. QUOTE (raBBit @ Oct 25, 2015 -> 11:20 AM) That's good stuff there. It's hard hitting
  13. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 25, 2015 -> 11:16 AM) It's tricky. With the Red Sox, Masterson, Porcello, Sandoval and Hanley all flopped and it cost Ben Cherington his job. Two years before that, almost all of their offseason moves turned out perfectly. In the end, teams like the Dodgers, Cubs, Rangers and Red Sox do have surpluses at both the major and minor league levels. Dombrowski is likely to be aggressive. We'll see if Hahn does the most obvious thing in trading Q. I'm curious to see what Dom does because he'll be aggressive and I wonder if he comes for Q or Sale and goes all out.
  14. I just can't see us moving Quintana if we sign Heyward.
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 24, 2015 -> 10:56 PM) The main point is you're expected to hit more often than not on Top Ten picks. When they can consistently get yearly positive results from lower rounds (Buehrle, Reed, Nate Jones, Petricka, Santiago, etc.) like the Cardinals do, that's the hallmark of great scouting and development. A high standard, but no choice since they can't spend their way out and aren't developing any position players that we can project to be above replacement level starters with a few exceptions. Absolutely. That's why I'm paying attention to the Trey M, Adams, Danish, guys along with trades like Rondon, JBW. That makes a team core at times. I want a guy from the Cardinals scouting department. They seem to always be doing things right and it shows.
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 24, 2015 -> 10:28 PM) Sure, but having three consecutive Top Ten picks tends to help as well. The proof will be in what we eventually get out of Beck, Johnson, Danish, Montas, Adams, Fulmer and about 3-4 others. They pretty much lucked into Rodon because of Kolek and Aiken both going in front of him. Carson Fulmer has more risk attached to him in terms of his delivery. For Carlos, the biggest issues will always be control and the development of his change-up. Sure it does. But that's how teams get really good talents for the most part. Astros wouldn't have gotten Coreia at like 10. They were 3? Happens. Sucking so bad will get ya top talent. No matter the sport. I was really happy with Rodon. Very lucky
  17. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 24, 2015 -> 10:00 PM) That third sentence speaks volumes for how far our minor league rebuild still has left to go. We have better luck with pitching though. It's far deeper. I'm sure others on here that follow a lot more than I do can go into detail.
  18. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Oct 24, 2015 -> 08:53 PM) So is there any possibilities from the farm that we may see within 5 years? It's kinda sad when there were guys like Bench, Fisk, Munson and Simmons. They were household names. My how baseball has changed. There's a couple options offensively. Anderson next season. He's as close to a sure thing as we've had. 3B Trey M is a good young prospect but is probably 2-3 years away.
  19. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 24, 2015 -> 07:19 PM) Yep, your stats are way more alarming. I said put him on the bench until Micah is the latest Sox to officially flame out. Give Micah enough at bats to see if he's a bust. Although I do realize defense is important in baseball and Micah is considered lousy, right? We know Sanchez is an A-plus with the glove. At some point, though you need some hitting. Problem is Micah can't stay healthy.
  20. @scotgregor: This came up during NLCS-if #Cubs go with Schwarber at catcher, should #WhiteSox pursue Montero in trade? 2/$28 mil left on deal Seen this just now on Twitter.
  21. KC is a division rival. I'm rooting for the Mets, but the fans in KC deserve a title. They go through a lot of tough luck with sports teams.
  22. QUOTE (Vance Law @ Oct 24, 2015 -> 04:00 PM) Did you just call Coors Field, the best hitter's park in the history of baseball, "the biggest pitcher's park in baseball"?
  23. For me, I'd keep him at 2B. We can work around his offense. His defense is really good and I'd just let him stay put. Everyone was awful to start the year. Just one of those years. I expect him to be better to start next year.
