  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 11:45 AM) They all are aware of the cost. A deal could get done as fast as they can say yes. Kudos to the White Sox for not budging. Agreed. But it's almost to that point where it's now or in the offseason.
  2. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 11:27 AM) Exactly what I said/thought... seems fishy to me Well they may not want to do it today but could give in during the off season depending on their playoff run. One thing that makes it fishy to me is this is Ortiz' last season. I thought they'd wana get him one more ring or run at it.
  3. Puig LF Tilson CF Eaton RF and DH Melky. That'd take away Morneau.
  4. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 11:12 AM) I really don't understand this. If I was the White Sox GM, I would tell them, this is what I want. Unless you are willing to agree to that price, don't call me anymore. I am not haggling Chris Sale. Eh I think they'll talk up until the deadline. Mainly the Red Sox to see if Hahn will lower his price.
  5. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 11:09 AM) Red Sox and White Sox still talking Sale per MLBN. I'm sure they will be because they could be laying groundwork for the winter like Rosenthal, IIRC is who said it.
  6. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 11:06 AM) They just got Hill. Not saying they still couldn't get Shields but we could be moving other parts. Shields would be insurance.
  7. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 10:53 AM) Some deal returning Urias, De Leon, Puig is a deal that can theoretically have you competing without doing a total explosion of the roster. Jerry will support this since his old-ass won't make it through a proper rebuild. That's the Puig interest. That's the reasoning. This tells me the White Sox are going to hone-in on the Dodgers and try to get something like the above done. Expect Garcia to head to the Dodgers as a body. For Quintana? Puig is a fine buy low guy. I'm just not sure what the real gain is because we need hitting prospects. I guess hope that Puig resurrects himself. I just hope for a Shields and Garcia trade for Puig lol.
  8. If we flipped Erik f***ing Johnson and Tatis Jr. into Puig, that'd be good. Shields for Puig? Not sure they do it. Maybe in a Q deal or Sale.
  9. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 10:06 AM) Also, DD "caving" is NOT going to include Moncada/Benintendi AND Devers/Kopech. If Hahn somehow talks him into the first two being included, anything else is gonna be light. If they can land Moncada AND Benny then the rest is negotiable. I'll take Devers over Kopech because we can develop pitching.
  10. Few hours left. I was optimistic something would get done but I don't think Boston is going to budge. Oh well. Maybe they revisit in November. I'm fine with this because they're panicking and giving our most valuable assets away to a team in the AL especially.
  11. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 09:50 AM) I do agree with Our Chuck. Just wait it out. No need to blink. This is a guy that can get you a WS this year and you still have him with about $50-$60 million discount the next 3 seasons. If they don't want to blink and don't win the WS, they have to live with it. It still would be an unprecedented trade if done after this season. Open it up to a few teams. With his contract, non contenders should be making offers for him now. It's been that all along. I think it's way more realistic Q goes than Sale just because of the value set.
  12. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 09:43 AM) Meh, still don't think it happens. Probably not but I'm hoping.
  13. I suspected Robertson included with one of our SPs to Boston all along. We'll see.
  14. Please be so. I want a package of prospects today that I can be happy about and give me a reason to watch the rest of the year.
  15. This sucks being at work lol. I'll check back in an hour for an update.
  16. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 09:24 AM) It's not your problem. It still is a reason Boston isn't going to trade him unless maybe you gave the Sale and Q. If you add the $63 million to the cost of the deal, it makes Sale not a bargain, but a properly paid $30 million a year guy. If his contract was $30 million a year, the package isn't as good as it is when he's a $15 million a year guy. Exactly. I didn't know about that so that's gona be tricky in and of itself. That's a big reason he probably won't be moved because they have so much invested. It's not our problem but it's Boston's and is a sticking point likely.
  17. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 09:22 AM) If they really go no-Moncada, then it would have to be: Sale and Robertson for Benintendi, Devers, Kopech, Rodriguez, Travis, Swihart, Dubon, Ball... Agreed. They have include 3 more prospects
  18. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 09:17 AM) The Red Sox paid Moncada a $31.5 million bonus, and paid the league a $31.5 million penalty. They are invested $63 million. The Sox would pay him minimal amounts. It's Boston that doesn't want that $63 million investment to go away. Agree that's what makes him complicated but he's blocked by Pedroia and Bogaerts. Maybe they play him at third I don't know who their 3B is. I'm just really hoping this all gets done. It's best for the White Sox. But if they can't that's fine too.
  19. Sale and Robertson for Moncada, Benintendi, Devers, Rodriguez or Kopech and Vasquez?
  20. Just taking a break from work to check on this. Man it would suck to not get Moncada for Sale. I'm not sure I make that deal. Maybe the sox don't like the contract of Moncada. Benintendi, Devers, Kopech and Rodriguez isn't enough I feel like.
  21. I'll be disappointed but won't think they blew it at the deadline. Now after this offseason maybe. But last thing I want them to do is give these guys away
  22. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 06:42 AM) A deal built around Mazara, Gallo, Brinson, Ortiz, & Tate could work. Let them keep Profar. Maybe include Melky to help offset the loss of Mazara and to get a couple more pieces back. That's not a bad deal at all. Not as good as a Moncada/Benintendi lead package, but I'm not sure how many other clubs could actually top it. I had a similar idea over the weekend. Adding Melky to offset the loss of Mazara and help with loss of Choo who is hurt also. That's a hard deal to top you're right
  23. Texas has no shot because they won't want to give up Mazara. I'm not enamored with Gallo and Profar only has about 3 years of control left and with his agent, Boras, he'll want a big contract. Texas' system just doesn't do much for me outside of Mazara. Boston and LA are the teams but I just don't see them doing this deal midseason.
